Xero was LP in 97 with Mark Wakefield as the singer then Mark left because they couldn't sign a record deal then Chester came in and they became Hybrid Theory in 99 but then a band named Hybrid got pissed and threatened to sue them, but they wanted their named themselves Lincoln Park because Chester would drive by Lincoln Park each time on his way to band practice, but they couldn't have that name because it was already taken, plus they wanted to own a website, so they changed it to Linkin Park.

They changed their name to Hybrid Theory because their sound was a "hybrid of different sounds", but they changed their name again because it seemed everywhere they played there was a Lincoln Park, so they liked that idea. One of my previous teachers knows one of the bassists that filled in for Phoenix during his short time away from the band back when they were Xero/Hyrbrid Theory.

They then changed it to HYBRID THEORY. After going on a ride through the states, every town they went to had a LINCOLN PARK. They loved the name and changed it to LINKIN PARK. And thats from the true number one fan. :D

It's some of the backstage footage from the episode of Larry King Live that he was on, back in late January I believe. I can probably find it again. He's also said that it was the Cali. Lincoln Park, and the one from Chester's hometown in Arizona, which made them choose the name. They changed the spelling because they wanted the domain name "lincolnpark" but it was already taken.

This is actually from when they were Hybrid Theory. As Xero they only did 4 basement tracks that were original. Then they got Chester and became Hybrid Theory and came out with these demos.
