This is a familiar story, we have all been there, but in the end we can all laugh about our experiences, and tell a good story when we meet at some God forsaken location. Thanks for posting.
I bet you could put a DVD together on pitfals etc of photgraphy and filming, be great for instruction. The bit where the sun came out as te train left shot is a classic, I think we all have had that! Keep up the great work.
I often seem to get vids of clouds of steam with a loco in there somewhere , never do seem to be able to judge the effects of cylinder drain cocks properly,!
Alan, holding a camera doesn't give you the right to direct everybody else's actions. At, e.g., 2:24, it's notreasonable to expect people to stop using the bridge just because some guy's sitting there with a camera (and Linesider doesn't expect this). As an amateur photographer myself, I'll try to stay out of your shot if you give me a way to get past or look like you'll be quick. If you don't, you're the oblivious cretin if you expect everyone to drop whatever they're doing for your benefit.
@beeble2003 Dude, he wasn't complaining. He was just trying to say all the trials he goes through to do what he does. He even said that he had no problem with it, that it essentially goes withthe terretory. Seems like you might be the cretin.
You're welcome and thanks for the kind words; I daresay I'll experience many similar events in years to come so there'll probably be a volume 2 on the way.
Thanks - there was some rather bad language after that happened. If I'd shown the whole video, you'd have seen full sun, then a cloud following 6201 all through the shot, before full sun again. These things are sent to try us ;-)
Well; I had a good laugh at your expense; thanks!
I needed cheering up after getting soaked waiting to film 34067 this morning, then gave up and went home. I'd assumed the tour must have been cancelled ..... until I saw a video a few minutes ago!
I'll try again, tomorrow. At least the weather is forecast to be better! Same loco within a couple of miles of my house, three days apart, can't be too bad!
What else is there to say, what a brilliant collection.
Mine would have included, oops I've just kicked the tripod whilst panning, or when waiting for the first sound of the loco in the distance, forgot and sniffed loudly and then when the roar is heard in the distance, somebody nearby says, wow that's f****** awesome.
Thanks David for cheering me up on an otherwise miserable day when I'm at home keeping warm & dry when I should be out getting cold and wet sniffing steam. Mike
AAAA.130936Z DEC 2008 A good video for the scornful and one star people !! It is a great pity these sort of people do not get 1.Video`s of their own in some cases. 2. Have not the imagination to do something with their lives...Thank you for posting.......AR.
What a brilliant insight into this crazy hobby of ours, and it's so funny because we can all relate to it..well done for this well thought out and executed video David..5*..Bob

Great video. You win some, you lose some. But it's worth all the effort and frustration just for that one perfect 'take'.

Nice one, it is a bit annoying when some one walks in front of you when you are obviously filming or trying to take a photo.

0:30 - oh dear. There's always a good chance of something bowling your shot of a steamer...
Well done anyway; great to see you showing your strengths and weaknesses. 5*

A very entertaining video. I liked the music too. Who was the singer? I only know this song sung by Buddy Holly but then, I'm such a fossil.

Thank you. This version is sung by Ralph McTell (most famous for 'Streets of London'), on his 'Red Sky' album.
