To take the violence out of islam would require it to jettison 2 things: the quran as the word of allah & muhammad as allah's prophet. In other words, to pacify islam would require its transformation into something that it is not. A race is part of person's genetic makeup. Islam is an ideology, not a race. Being a jew is being a member of a race, being a muslim is being a follower of an ideology. You can leave this ideology anytime you want and cease to be a muslim. Persecuting muslims would be political persecution, not genocide.
