Everyone, you gotta understand.. Aaron is becoming an old man; he's not that angry-at-the-world teenager anymore. He's matured. I like a lot of Staind's stuff, and just discovered new stuff off of Dysfunction and I think Break the Cycle that I really am enjoying. I like Illusion; and Chapter V; understand that Staind as a band has progressed and matured, and you can't expect them to always put out hard-hitting kick ass stuff like Tormented. Illusion isn't bring to me; it's progress.
I love this album a lot. It almost has a "Tormented" kind of feel to it. However, there's one thing that "Tormented" will always have that this album doesn't: Self Destruct. That is the heaviest Staind song I have ever heard.

Is it just me, or are these guys using low gauge strings? Been a couple years since I played guitar but I use to play a 7 string with really heavy gauge strings. They had a real tight sound.

This, however, is unique from other songs in that when one writes a song that requires you to sing rather than talk to a regular rhythm, it is unique. Because you have to find vocal melodies that are audibly synonymous with the music that's being played. Sure, lots of rock songs are 'similar' to one another, but there're thousands of rap songs that are identical.

It is in no way like godsmack and nickleback (butt rock). @god311 Watch the Staind documentary and you will see the hell they went through to come up with this. Aaron was grumpy, tired, and had 5 songs to write and record in less than 48 hours before the deadline came. This song was one of them, so his screaming was not in that good shape.

For fans like me anyways, because my favorite stuff is that entire period from Tormented all the way through Break the Cycle. I love all that shit. They were really heavy but so different than any of the other bands out back then. They also had a lot of beauty in their music. I like some of the tracks on the new cd. Production sounds good

Chapter V - songs are soft, but some are pretty brutal including Paper Jesus and King of All Excuses
Illusion of Progress - I honestly find it boring, but respectable. entire album is soft

Is it just me, or are these guys using low gauge strings? Been a couple years since I played guitar but I use to play a 7 string with really heavy gauge strings. They had a real tight sound.

@TBRebelReggae you obviously don't like rap, then. This, however, is unique from other songs in that when one writes a song that requires you to sing rather than talk to a regular rhythm, it is unique. Because you have to find vocal melodies that are audibly synonymous with the music that's being played. Sure, lots of rock songs are 'similar' to one another, but there're thousands of rap songs that are identical.

@thomaslheard Dislike rap too. There are tons of bands/performers from every genre that dont play what the radio wants you to hear. They are original, and thats where GOOD music lies. Seriously how many bands sound like Nickleback? ALOT, and Nickleback SUCKS in my opinion. Same with Disturbed, Stainds new cd, Godsmack, Seether, etc, etc..... No originality on the radio anymore.

@TBRebelReggae This new cd is a step in the right direction. They left their radio pop music behind and actually did something good. Staind died for all i cared until this new cd. It is in no way like godsmack and nickleback (butt rock). I do agree that music on the radio does blow these days, but we now live in a world where you're famous for looking like a freak or getting caught doing drugs. Then you get the other half which is shit like Justin Beiber and Miley Cyrus.

Hopfully The Next album Will Be Better Than This One. He Dosent Have The Voice To Be A Screamer. All The Songs On This Album Are Lacking A Catchy Chorus. One Of the Songs Sounded Like It Even Had Rap Thrown In- Love Stained But Not Impressed.

@god311 Watch the Staind documentary and you will see the hell they went through to come up with this. Aaron was grumpy, tired, and had 5 songs to write and record in less than 48 hours before the deadline came. This song was one of them, so his screaming was not in that good shape.

@god311 Man, it doesn't sound like that to me at all. It sounds like they are trying to show their other signature sound. It sounds like an album for the fans. For fans like me anyways, because my favorite stuff is that entire period from Tormented all the way through Break the Cycle. I love all that shit. They were really heavy but so different than any of the other bands out back then. They also had a lot of beauty in their music. I like some of the tracks on the new cd. Production sounds good
