About 4 years ago at a flea market, I spent 30 bucks on a SNES system that came bundled with this game. I don't think the guy knew he had about 80 dollars just in this game alone.
Like many of you have said, playing this game is a truly unique experience. The concept behind it, coupled with the storyline and the beautiful music is just... not very common in games. This is a true masterpiece.
I just recently got myself a copy of this game. I never heard about it before until I saw it in a list of some of the rarest and most valuable snes games and damn, I can't believe I never heard about it before, it's so addicting!
unlike a lot of games today, at the end of this one you feel like you were on a journey, you developed, grew and decided your own fate and evolution. at the end I felt a sense of accomplishment in my choices. I'll probably get flamed for this but this game was leaps and bounds better than the ecco series.

that sounds more like a modern game than a classic game, actually.
This game was so great, one of my favorite games from Enix. Just feeding and watching my little cannibal fish grow into a beaver and then a club wielding marauding human was so much fun. It made it feel special every time I played it.
Classic Sugiyama music, just like his work on Dragon Quest. Can't mistake him! By the way, it looks like the fmt=18 thing will be gone since the HQ version automatically loads now. :) Makre sure you click on that HQ button, or have it defaulted in the account options.
Few interactive titles have had the kind of turn-around in terms of playability that this one had. By which I mean it took the test of time quite miserably.

Sounds dark and eerie, just like the ocean was for early life back then.

This game is so underappreciated. This teaches vital lessons about evolution such as the fact that horns always break off after 3 charges.

I'd kill for a new 2-D E.V.O.

I love this game, one of the most unique, entertaining and charming experiences on the SNES. A true classic. Great choice, SupraDarky!

I definitely recommend checking this game out; if nothing else it feels very original. I need to finish it sometime, though... :P

I wish you could of evo'd into a human-like creature, beating the last boss and getting with the girl didn't really do it for me AS A RHINO!
grimmace45 3 years ago 5
actually it is possible to become a human, but it was difficult and required a special combination of bodyparts

Yay, somebody else knows of the Spore-before-Spore! The only thing missing was...I don't know, maybe a Mars level? Still a well-rounded game.
