What a stupid woman, always coming down on the wrong side of the law. she's ALWAYS trying to get in the national limelight. typical snake lawyer.
"narrow margin?"
Its only this "narrow" because there were so many bogus government officials trying to get in the way. People like Jerry Brown changing the name of the ballot measure. People like Diane Feinstein, State Superintendent of Schools, etc., all getting in the middle of it, when they are supposed to just SERVE, not DICTATE to us.
"M word means something special all right"...Marriage already is being "defined" and understood for five thousand years!
We will not let social activists dis-mantle, dis-figure, dishonestly dis-integrate and hijack this sacred institution and force a slippery slope "marriage" re-definition on the will of the people and getting away with it!
Down with reactionary social-reengineering-activists !!
i hope we win the lawsuit! it's unfair that we are treated differently under the law! Proposition 8 was full of bigotry! that's why i was No on 8! i wish i could marry the man of my dreams!
gloria... equal protection applies to protected classes. Sexual behavior is not a protected class and it would be giving extraordinary rights to a group due to behavior and sexual appetite. A special consideration should then be applied to others with different sexual behavior as well (equal protection). The constitutional amendment doesnt discriminate and reflects the will of the people.
its not a right. Its a choice. Look at it from a different perspective. Who is going to marry the 500lb slob... If he/she has a right to get married, then he is ENTITLED to a bride (or husband). Who is going to provide this spouse? Just because you want something, doesnt mean you have a right to it. Rights are described in the constitution... marriage is not a basic or inalienable right.
how would you define gay? What is gay? It is a sexual preference... period. estupido is yours. sexual orientation or preference or appetite doesnt have a civil right... period.
are you seriously that ignorant? If you feel being gay is ONLY about sex then you are ignorant. Being gay is about who yuo fall in love with. It is no differnet then any straight couple relationship. But you will never understand that so I am unsure why I am even replying.

not ignorant... factual. What defines gay is a man or woman preference to have sex with the same gender. I have male friends that I love very dearly, but I wouldnt CHOOSE to have sex with them. The second I CHOOSE to have sex with them, then I crossed the line to homo'sex'uality. You can review the definition in the dictionary if you like. And dont go saying "they dont have a choice" without producing the "gay" gene. There isnt any... after millions of $ and thousands of hours in research.

Thank you for making my point. As humans, a homosexual have the same constitutional rights I do... no more and no less. So being gay doesnt constitute any civil right just like being hetero doesnt constitute any civil right, so their rights havent been discriminated because their gay. Its the constitutional paradox that destroys their position, because they cant push their agenda on people that is against their religion, because that is protected under the constitution.
hmm... it seems like this should have been brought up before it went to vote and should have never been on the ballot, but to the outside, it looks like these folks aren't ready to settle for the democratic process if it doesn't work in their favor
It takes a long time to go to court; Prop 8 popped up in just the few months after the CA supreme court decision that was arrived at after many years of litigation. There was insufficient time to obtain a court decision that could have prevented it from showing up on the ballot in the first place.
Considering that here in AZ they re-introduced the same anti-gay marriage amendment again that was voted down two years ago, it seems like nobody is willing to "settle" for the democratic process.
thank you

I'm not against gay marrige, but the people voted, and now these folks are syaing that a majority of votes means nothing.
