  • Great job guys.....make me think of Cleoma Falcon

  • @ScooterpupReljac I don't know who that is, but I am going to look her up on YouTube.

  • @mrgreer51

Cleoma Breaux Falcon was married to accordionist Joseph Falcon, and the couple recorded some of the first Cajun songs to be put on 78s in the 1920s, including the famous "Allons a Lafayette". Whatever this tune is that your playing, the melody reminds me alot of Cleoma singing "J'ai passe devante ta porte" which I think translated means "I passed by your door".....it is a very sad tune. I think that Mark Savoy and his Family have also recorded it, but y'all have got it down great

  • were you hit by all the stroms that came though there?

  • @dannyray6 Molly, the daughter who plays bass in some of these videos, lives in Joplin, but they suffered no damage. I was over there helping with the clean up a few days ago, and I can tell you it's a real mess. 8,000 homes and businesses were destroyed, and 153 people died.

  • I pray you all pulled thru that terrible tornado. Were any of you close to Joplin?

  • @thenolanbunch The hats go by various names, but they are usually called engineer hats or conductor hats. I got mine at a farmer store, but you can buy them on the internet.

  • @thenolanbunch ,theirs nothing in dear Ireland only high taxe's and a lot of con artists, pot hole-roads and wishing back to the celtic tiger days.

  • Please ask Emily to wear a ski helmet. We want her to keep playing headache free from here on out.

That goes for all of you,,, ;)

  • Four Assholes who don't like this? Go listen to your Lady Gaga Cd's...

  • very very nice.....well done indeed. Greetings from the UK

  • very good

  • cool

  • Does she tune down to FCGD (if that is even right)? or play in GDAE tuning?

  • @bjmacaoidh It's just standard GDAE tuning. The tune is properly called "I Passed By Your Door" in English. If you can find DL Menard and Dewie Balfa playing this one, you will be seeing the real deal. Sometimes it's on YouT\ube, sometimes not.

  • Oh my, I've got goose bumps and my heart is bursting with such joy! Makes me miss playing me fiddle! :)

  • fine playin` must be from MO

  • @1974plowman Yep, we're from MO. We're just Cajun wannabees.

  • @mrgreer51 you`re not wanna be anything, you`re your own thing--sounds so good

  • @mrgreer51 you`re not wannabes at all--you sound great and also inspire

  • @mrgreer51 You man be a wanna-be but the two of you play as good and better than I've heard in my hometown of Eunice, Louisiana. A very fine waltz...takes me back to hearing my pawpaw jack play on the backporch of my grandparents house. His waltzes could break your heart. Thanks for the tune and would love to hear more cajun tunes.

  • this song almost brings tears to my eyes.brings back back memories of being a young boy. I enjoy the humor with which you employ the music. hats are cool btw.

  • man this just...made my evening.. thanks guys ;)

  • J'ai passe' devant ta porte--Quelle belle valse! (Et aussi triste, les mots).

  • FRENCH FOLK IS NOW WELL REPRESENTED !!!

  • Very good. Would happily stroll a lady around the dancefloor to that.

  • Very good. I'd happily stroll a lady round the dancefloor to that.

  • Must be one of my favourites! I bought the cd ages ago and let it repeat on the player.

28 hours is the max - so far.

I only just looked at Emily's wedding pictures. Her fella looks rather smug - as well he might.

  • wish I could play!

  • J'ai Passe' Devant ta Porte. Excellent version!

  • You two are awesome! Thanks so much for posting this. I just love tunes like this in 3/4 time. What is the name of this song?

  • Mr Greer, I love the tune, well played, I think it's absolutely amazing that you and your family play together, and have such a good time doing it, music isn't really in my family gene pool, so I'm the oddball out, nevertheless good music is good music, doesn't matter what 'genre' it comes from. I play mainly rock and country, and I thoroughly enjoy every waking moment I spend picking on my guitar, thank YOU guys, for the great music, hitting subscribe and liking, have a good one.

  • That young lady is some fiddle player as well as you are good on the guitar. Just ran across the cajun waltz. Heard a lot of other that you play.Just wanted to thank you for sharing.Did enjoy down younder and your guitar solo. Hope you play more and more. Reg from Nova Scotia

  • From Saskatchewan, Canada--greetings!! Love the RR hats!

  • From south of France ,mille merci pour ces belle musiques de chez vous .Vous êtes en plus très sympathiques ...

  • awesome that fiddle player is goooood

  • Why do you wear that hat? Seems like you drive a train hahaha

  • @cesarmari Because I'm bald. Emily is wearing one because she just had a bad fall on the ski slopes and still had a terrible headache from the concussion. The hat took her mind off it long enough to play fiddle.

  • Gee-whiz i sure do like you guys :)

Southern music always puts a truthful feeling in my heart!

  • Miss Emily, marry me?

  • Good stuff guys. Also love the dueling bangos.

Best Regards from the UK :0)

    PS... Nice hats LOL

  • i,m an english man going through the internet and these two can play

  • This is fantastic stuff, Keep it up :) from South Wales, United Kingdom.

  • That was truly amazing - Keep up the good work. (South Wales, United Kingdom)

  • Bonjour depuis la Suisse.

    J'aime bien votre musique!

  • That was lovely. Thankyou. I have listened to it a few times now and enjoy it every time.

  • Dad,you have to be PROUD!! you guys are awesome.

  • check out brad moggie fiddling in 2005

  • try the metis fiddle tunes, they r different

  • SHE'S SO ADORABLE WITH THAT HAT : )

  • Dang, I just love a good Waltz. Very well done

  • Do you guys ever play at the National Flatpicking show every year in Kansas? I lived in Kansas and used to go to that.

  • We have been there to Winfield a few times, but seriously, we're not good enough to enter that contest.

  • Mr. Greer, I have been there a few times as well. Either you are joking with me, or just went to listen rather than play.

Anyways there is still time, you have the ambition, but your timing is off. No disrespect, your music is superb, timing just off. PROMOTE now. I know

  • Also, I know in your heart you wanted to make these videos so you will always remember the fun, your daughters as well. You do not want it to end, go for it. Maybe find a bagpipe player to add flavor. Age is only in the mind.

  • @mrgreer51

Contests I dont agree with ..... but playing your stuff to people with a love of what you do ? I wouldl isten to you all - day long over "contest" hopefulls .

I never understand where all this contest stuff comes from the last few years . American idol etc ..... where is the love of just listening to people and enjoying it gone? bad or good ... we all play for the love of it . I would rather listen to people who do it for the love of music and not just hope to be a star .

  • @evsynator Agree. Contests that have winners and losers seem to defeat the purpose of music. We just play for the enjoyment of it. We share in case others enjoy the same stuff. But contests? No thanks.

  • @evsynator Do what I did! buy Em's cd and let it repeat on your player.

Great, is she not? I just looked at her wedding pics and her fella looks rather smug - as well he might.

  • Lovely music, Just how it should be played, Right from the heart

  • Hello from Scotland,

It's freezing cold, there's a foot of snow outside the door, and I've just been playing along with you on my dulcimer - great fun.

    Thank you,

    Peter

  • Well, Peter, it's freezing cold here too. We have about 4 inches of snow right now. I'll just throw another log on the fire, and you keep on playing that dulcimer. We'll get through this winter one way or the other.

  • Greetings from Springfield. Jesse said basically "hi you guys are great musicians. I am 21 years old and learning from my friends what cajun music is like so thank you for the song and your playing" I agree, pretty good playing.

  • No no, I mean one of THOSE hat's ya'll are wearing. I am particularly fond of the crisper looking one on Emily's (that's her, right?) head. I'll trade you and Oklahoma hat for it. Nothing wrong with a good hat trade. Is it adjustable?

    David

  • I'm not gonna lie. I gotta have one of those engineer hats. Great, playing, by the way. Sorry Phil, but the hat looks better on her!
