the guy who spun in the red car was my old man,it was his first lap out on cold tyres. it is a pedrazza racing car and i dont think it would be so easy to pass if he was up to temp as that car is easily faster than most at trackdays. nice driving tho mate
the guy out drove a radical! id say neither were novices and a missed shift would have been a schoolgirl error! all these missed/ down shift guy should give their heads a shake! this car was driven well, it never got passed to say the least!
oh dear dirve fail, you down shifted instead of up and you wonder why it went bang! Plus you borred out a engine so close to it's limit. But before you killed it by the down shift it was soooo amazing!
@ededdynova are you watching a different video????? Ive driven and raced becs for 5 years and I know which way an upshift is!!! in case you dont for a downshift would push the gear lever forward!!and if you watch after the corner i pull the lever back! if you read previous comments on this video there is a full explanation to why the motor expired in brief it was caused by a faulty batch of pistons.
Hope you fixed the bad lad cos it looked the dogs reelin in some serious metal. since it was bored out were there other pistons to fit it or did you have to use the same again?
Almost looks like you accidentally down-shifted then realized what you did instantly(when the RPM, and the con-rod, went through the roof), and then up-shifted, but it was too late. But I could be wrong.
nope when stripped engine the pistons all had hairline fractures around the gudgeon pins, manufacturing fault caused the damage, engine had only done around 17 hours!
That's a shame. The engine just locked up on my 944, I have yet to determine the cause. Of course that car is nothing like yours, but it's a bummer to have the motor go out on ya.
I reckon I could tell you would make of piston you had in there, there renown for this! I reckon if someone else built this motor for you I could tell you that by there trademark orange covers!
There there known for it, we completely avoid them now! The company I work for we build like 800 busa motors a year in all forms including V8. We built and sent 5 motors to the states with there pistons in and after having 3 fail had to ship them all back and repair FOC, they did not want to know or even acknowledge there was a problem!
Great race mate, excellent driving! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Too bad about the piston. What's the next step? I hope you continue to race. Great video, thanks heaps.
god i can't wait till i hit 25 so i can buy myself a really fast car and not have the insurance people taking an arm and a leg. can't they trust us men to be safe drivers???!!!
Just randomly found your video clip and as a biker I am amazed what you got that Bussa engine to do before it did sadly go pop. Awesomly smoothe driving too. Pleasure to watch.
Did he miss a gear and over-rev the engine? I know its possible to do by sitting near the redline in say 3rd, then going for 4th and accidentally hitting 2nd. Most engines will have a device to stop over-rev, and this is usually the only way to damage your engine by over-revving.
Fantastic, It's fun passing the porsche drivers!! LOL...from a fellow westie BEC owner, i bet you could have cried when the rod poked out the side...Gutted !! (Nice vid though)
What a beast of a car.

Nice ride, but it is a silly idea to have music in the background, when you want to listen to the sweet running engine

I believe the Megabusa has got a sequential gearbox, so missing gears like that is kinda tricky :)
styx85 3 years ago
no never missed a peg, was piston failure, it cracked where the pin holds it and let go as can be seen :-(

Sounded like it was pulling some serious revs when it blew. Great video though, thanks for posting.
