  • well, you can cry on my shoulder, my lady.

  • I press replay and she sings it again just for me

  • Love and adore Hayley. Just too awesome and hot.

  • Just a correction: it's LASCIA CH'IO PIANGA (Let Me Cry/ Allow me to cry).

  • Hello from France, THANKS SO MUCH for this magnific video. I love Celtic Music, and these Women are GREAT, their VOICES too ! AMAZING. Best regards

  • v starejši obliki

  • to je moj jezik!!!

  • Hayley has one of the most beautiful voices ever. Stop trolling

  • Hayley really shines when she sings any of her solos, but I just don't think she was meant to be in a group. That's why I don't like her in any of the group numbers- her voice just doesn't blend very well. She's a fantasic solo artist, but she wasn't right for Celtic Woman.

  • @EnyaFan210

Hayley's voice doesn't "blend well" because because her voice is head and shoulders better than the rest.

  • @ipaythursday It's difficult for the eagle to fly amongst the sparrows.

  • Mairead i love youuuuu:)

  • my god! this was just perfect! ive been in choir for about 5 years now and never have i heard this song sung so beautifully!

  • everything here is orange ishhh!! her dress, hairr, the lights on the castleee lmao

  • I love Hayley singing this aria by Handel. Her beautiful , effortless voice really suits this. This concert was really wonderful and I am fortunate to have the DVD.

  • Beautiful

  • ah - handel - the greatest of all songwriters!

  • Is this Celtic or Italian?

  • @IreneLDS Is Italian Traslation : Let me weep Let me weep over my cruel fate, And that I long for freedom! And that I long, and that I long for freedom! Let me weep over my cruel fate, And that I long for freedom! Let me weep over my cruel fate, And that I long for freedom! And that I long, and that I long for freedom! Let me weep over my cruel fate, And that I long for freedom!
  • Celticwoman were not the same when they let her go.

  • @nhojh11 They did WHAT?

  • Wow she´s sooooo beautiful!!! *-*

  • Brilliant Celtic Ladies!

  • Uh guys...?

What is that black figure roaming from left to right at 0:53-0:55 behind her at the window?

  • @AerithMint It's the person who plays violin at around 1:47, she's just walking to the door/stage entrance

  • @Cutedogliz Oh, alright. Thanks! That does makes sense. Sorry, my mind went a little wild at that moment. Probably I watched Ghost Adventures at the late night. XD...

  • @AerithMint Most definately a zombie.....

  • @AerithMint Most definitely a zombie.....

  • 10 people missed the like button by mistake.

  • Beautiful in EVERY way.

  • BEAUTIFUL ... Just Love This ... Hayley Westenra is simply the best ! ...

  • an angel ♥

  • i would die to see this live :)

  • Very Nice.

  • Muito Lindo!!!!

    Isso é fantástico!

    bjs e abçs

    Célia Lemos

  • Honey, it' "Lascia Ch'io Pianga" not "Laschia Ch'io Pianga" ; D

  • Her singing with "Celtic Woman" makes the rest look "Second Best". Her voice is so awsome, it's like an angel singing. And if you whatch her, you wonder where this voice caome from. She's singing without any effort, just like this where nothing special.

  • this is just personal for me she isnt the best but still a good one. it depents on what you like in a voice of someone :)

  • It's so beautiful! Thank you for posting! Celtic Woman are so famous, but they still know who they are. For example, Hayley and Chloe do a lot for charity for people in Afghanistan or in African countries. They're a very good example of how an idol should be. I think they're wonderful!!!

  • My queen!!

  • so very good!

  • is a DVD on shops with all this concert together? =S

  • @PatriciaAyarra

Sure. Search for: Celtic Woman - A New Journey, live at Slane Castle.

  • @PatriciaAyarra Thank you! =)

  • lascia che io pianga =)

  • I'm italian. this song is very beautifull, but the title is uncorrect. the words are LASCIA CH'IO PIANGA... sorry for correction, but "laschia" don't means the same thing of "lascia"... anyway she sings the italian language very well: the pronunciation is really correct... for english people, italian is difficult to speek, because there are the vocal at the end of the words... but she sings well all words. sorry for my bad english, but, I already say it, I'm italian =)

  • how sexy is this lady , hayley is my fav out ov the celtic women nd yes her voice is gud 2 but 4 me she is well nice

  • HW Thank you. The vision that accompanies your music is life to me, truly living as I could not dream on my own. Thank you a million times.

  • what are you discussing ????

for me its simply exellent piece of music

    siddharta

  • blackbeasthamish-Handel performance practice IS well known. You are incorrect.Authenticity in baroque music has been a major study in Europe in last 20 years by conductors like Harnoncourt+Koopman.Period instument orchestras(which use gut strings as they did in Handels day)are the norm now for baroque. Numerous treatises on performance were written at the time.Have you actually heard the singers in my videos I suggested who sing Handel? They lack 'warmth' ie expression??

  • As I said music evolves as do the intruments used to play it. The18th C. gut string instruments used to perform Handel's work are no more "authentic" than later instruments. They were simply the only kind available. Bach's Tocatta and Fugue would not have sounded half as imposing on the intruments of the day. If Handel were alive now he would approve of the diverse interpretations of his work, and the fact that you and I take the trouble to debate it. It all comes down to personal choice.

  • "but with no real depth. This whole Crossover muzak trend is alarming." -- You do know, of course, that not every opera part needs to be sung by a full, dramatic soprano voice, right? She may not have the color that a more mature soprano might, in this performance, but her upper range is so much brighter. She hits those high notes like a bell, instead of a gong, which some people find preferable.

  • mlsclassics-Perfect example of what I mean below is my Pergolesi video with C Sampson-pure voice. You will probably really like her.See her +the other videos I mentioned.

  • mlsclassics-You really misunderstand me.If you listen to my videos of Carolyn Sampson,Tuva Semmingsen,Emma Kirkby,Rebecca Outram(she does this) ,DiDonato they do have VERY pure voices with bright upper range! You wrongly think I meant 'big' Verdi sopranos like Montserrat Caballe etc!! Not at all! In last 20 years many more sopranos have more pure voices which suit baroque music more.

  • Regardless of if she's a conventional opera singer or not Westernra sings this, yes prettily- but with no real depth. This whole Crossover muzak trend is alarming. It sterilises Classical music into a hollow commercial product and neuters the original artistic meaning.Jenkins and Bocelli do the same to Classical-both also never sung in ONE opera anywhere!

  • The test of quality music is that it stands both the tests of time and of reinterpretation. This is how it continues to live on. Does anyone really know what Handel's original artistic meaning was? I think not. We only know what musiciians have attributed to his work over the centuries. Hayley may not be a "conventional" opera singer, whatever that is supposed to mean, but what she does bring to it where many of these fail, is warmth. For this reason it ranks with the best.

  • ....the title is wrong...it's LASCIA and not laschia...

anyway, she is not a opera singer, so it's obvious that we can't expect her to sing as Emma Kirkby!!but i think she did a good job....i like her italian pronunciation...

(i'm italian and i'm studing to become a professional opera singer..)

  • @anassoralosi you're also a nitwit

  • @anassoralosi: May I know what the title of this song means ? And what is the content of this song about ? Is this a worshiping song ?

This song sounds so beautiful to me ...

  • @Theclowcard the title means "let me cry"

    here's a translation:

    Let me cry

    The cruel fate

    and the sighs

    Freedom!

    The sorrow breaks

    These twisted

    of my sufferings

    just for mercy

  • @luciapopp1 shut up, hayley is phenomenal. she has the most beautiful voice. so don't even go there.

  • Men, before that ....I mean before I'd got aquainted with Celtic songs.... I've been not sure whether girls are able to do.... anything.

    Awesome!!!

  • @luciapopp1 What a snob you are, I bet you wake up friendless and miserableand go to bed lonely and frustrated.

  • so talented!!!

  • ..Lascia ch' io pianga la cruda sorte e che sospiri la libertà...

  • @sporttygurl

    oui, si beau !

  • Gaelic is shear beauty in it's most crystaline form... 5/5

  • @FireLancet and coupled with Hayley Westenra's magical voice.. sighhhh (:

  • in Italian is Lascia ch'io pianga...

  • Hayley sighhh (L)

  • Psssssst..... it's LASCIA ch'io pianga

  • Amazing well done Hayley. Who is the man in the light brown jacket at the end of the clip. His face seems familiar?

  • amazing beyond amazing....

  • Haley is always very graceful when performing. beautiful version.

  • My eyes swelled with tears... most delightful and touching...

  • wow, well done, hayley!!!

he looks like an angel she has the voice of an angel! fantastic

  • Wonderful song performed by Hayley, a charming singer with the voice of an angel. Thank you Hayley! When are you coming into Eastern Europe?

  • I also wonder when she'll come here to the USA? She tours the UK a lot but doesn't do a many tours internationally. I hope she does that again...I'd love to see her live.

  • This is awesome! Well doen Hayley :)

  • "Lascia" ch'io pianga, not "LASCHIA"!!!

  • moron, could be a typo ...

  • I sang this with my women ensemble in High School! This song sounds so good with harmonies. Hayley did a great rendition of the song though. :- ]

  • Do you have a recording of your version of this song. harmonies and all? If so, I would like to hear it. Haleys version is the only version I have ever heard, but I imagine it would be very fine with the harmonies.

Upload it, and then put it as a video response to this video or send it to me direct.

  • Amazing

  • she is adorable.... very good singer even in bel canto... amazing

  • does anyone know if Hayley is comeing out with a cd?

  • abokieyes. Do you mean a new CD? Hayley has already released several CD's.

  • she should be soon, but right now she's still in Tawain at the 2009 games or whatever but she should be

  • It's fantastic to hear her singing in Italian! but she's always great!

    translation:

Let me cry, my hard fate,

    and let me sigh freedom

  • So cool how the violinist rolls her eyes back at 2:08. really shows the extreme emotion she pours into her playing as it transitions back into the beautiful singing.

  • Pay attention: it's "lascia", not "laschia". I'm italian, I know it.

In the end... it's perfect, I love it!

  • simply perfect...

  • This is amaz9ing keep up the good work hayley

  • Golden dress

    Golden voice

    Golden Hayley

  • @ony551213 I agree

  • pronuncia bene l'italiano

naturally she is no only for this a greath singer

  • Hayley Westenra posee una textura de voz que me agradada mucho y sus interpretaciones siempre me han sido muy gratas.

  • A baroque masterpice very well preformed. And best of all it doesent drown in vibrato :)

  • Peregj, I couldn't agree with you more - so much beautiful music is ruined by "operah style" overdone vibrato and strained vocal chords..Yuk - but this is wonderful - acurate notes, no gliding to notes - just perfect!

  • @hootersnooter For me, the most wonderful aspect of them is their complete lack of ego. No pettiness, envy, jealousy, or any other negative emotion can I detect - and I've seen a few egos in my time.

  • beautiful performance and Hayley has such an effortless way of singing. Lovely

  • I've had to sing this several times -blushes-

  • Interpretation if off. Go translate the lyrics.

  • I think this is the best singing I've ever heard done by Hayley Westenra. don't understand the song but lovely nonetheless.

  • I think in English it's something like "Let me weep for my lost freedom" or something along those lines, but I could be horribly wrong since I can't speak Italian worth a crap, lol.

  • sahara....your translation is correct....

  • phew, that's good, lol!

i didn't want to make a fool of myself.

  • this is so beautiful<3

is this being sung in Italian?

  • She reminds me of Galadriel from Lord of the Rings for some reason.

  • she should have taken that role

  • Check out Philippe Jaroussky's version of this, he's a French countertenor, and is absolutely amazing---- Not to say that Hayley isn't :)

  • Apart from Hayley who's from NZ, all of them were born in Ireland. Chloe's mom is an Irish entertainer known as Twink, who participated in the Eurovision Song Contest a few times years ago as part of a girl band. She was a comedian as well and did pantomime on stage. I remember seeing Chloe as a four year old, she's hardly changed since then. She has a younger sister but I don't know if she's in show business.

  • Are you saying Chloe looks and sings like she did when she was four? I wish I could see her pictures back then. and she said her sister is not in show business but education I think.

  • Lascia ch'io pianga not "laschia"

  • Her singing is very strong. I love this singer the best. Everybody else is great, but she is, personally of course, the best

  • Why there are so many beautiful ladies in Ireland?

  • Hayley Westenra isn't from ireland, she's from new zealand. :) xx

  • Yes, she wasn't born in Ireland, but is of Dutch and Irish heritage. None of the women from Celtic Woman are full Irish, that would be surprising.

  • ah! handel! - surely one the greatest of all songwriters - martin.

  • Like her dress!

  • ok so she is but she wasnt with them before

  • I think that there's a mistake in the title,it's "lascia ch'io pianga,not laschia :)

    Kisses from italy

  • clear as a bell...this is what pure singing is like. I would love to hear sarah brightman sing this...

  • Absolutely agree Luthermans57, clear tone, sensitive vibrato, no throat tightening, just a natural girls voice - beautiful, hits notes without gliding upwards - contrast this with most other renditions from "trained operatic" singers

  • I belive this "pure" singing was what was done in Handel's day. I don't think the "Operatic" style full of vibrato had really taken hold until Mozart revived the Opera genre. I am glad this singing style has made a renaissance.

  • wow i love them they sing GREAT!!!

  • 22, and an opera fan. This video is the reason for it.

  • i fell in love with this song the first time i heard it (on pbs) and i havent been able 2 find neone else who can sing it as good as hayley let alone her sher beauty and grace

  • ma si chiama lascia ch'io piangam non laschia XD bellissimo comunque *____*

  • I'd like to see Hayley come back as a part of the group again. She has a beautiful voice, and I think she added her own touch.

  • is haley one of the group with the celtic women if not she should always be with them what a voice and so pretty

  • she is one of the celtic women

  • Hayley has left to continue with her successful solo career.

  • successful? I didn't know, thank for the news, i'm sorry, i come from germany an my english is not so good ^^ but thanks. :-)

  • but when i saw an interview i didnt see her now is there 4plus the violin or 5 of them plus the violinist

  • If the interview was recent, of course you wouldn't have seen Hayley. You would have seen Chole, Lisa, Alex, Lynn, and Mairead.

  • ok thank you

  • Hayley actually isn't one of the original members. You see Celtic Woman started in 2004 with Lisa Chloe Meav Orla and Mairead. Hayley wasn't one of them, but she's still an amazing singer. :-)

  • Pure beauty.

  • Acurate, sensitive, pure, Absolutely lovely!!

And best of all, a girl singing like a girl, not like a woman on steroids with the usual outrageous vibrato. Well done!

  • the fuck are you talking about? how do you figure they sound like they're on steroids?

  • Tenor220, most vocalists that sing this have been trained to be able to sing with volume, in fact many operah singers can sing louder than you can shout - this concentration on volume is because they have to compete with an orchestra in a big hall - hence there is the compromise, volume against natural purity, in my considered opinion give me a natural womans voice any day over Bruh Hilda types! Shame about your foul language

  • bellissima canzone brava fantastica

  • She is absolutely amazing.

  • Amazing... I love this music, and she brings it beautifully.

  • Amazing that she can get that kind of breath control in such a gown. What a beautiful voice!

  • Amazing voice for someone that young!

  • She is SOOOOO good!

  • is this is french or gealic

  • It is Italian... Lascia Ch'io Pianga is a piece of George Frideric Handel's opera: Rinaldo. In the opera has it sung by Isabella Girardeau, playing Almerina.
