  • Mazda never made a Stock 4 Rotor Engine, Saying its the same as a 13B but with 4 rotors is like saying a V8 Engine is the same as a 4 Cylinder. The 4 Rotor R26B was used in prototypes and exclusively in the 787B Le Mans Car.

    They did a stock 3 rotor engine, which was in the Mazda Cosmo.

    But yes, someone can build you a 4 rotor, if you have pockets deep enough to pay for it, seeing as its all custom work to modify two 13B engines to fit onto each other to make the 4 rotor...

  • @Tj1056 There is no such thing as a "stock" 4rotor. Its a race motor and Mazda never sold a production 4rotor anything to the public. The LS7 on the other hand, can be purchased at any Chevrolet dealer. You are gravely mistaken kid if you think a peripheral port 4rotor has anywhere near the driveability and manners of a LS7.

  • @rotarymagic yes there is a "stock" 4 rotor its the same thing as a 13b n/a but with 4 rotors duh... I can go buy a 4 rotor if I wanted to also there are people that build them... but what makes it different from the ls7 is the power to size ratio... its makes around 500hp off the basic build but with port jobs like anyone would do when building a 4 rotor you looking at 600hp+ off a N/A engine... then throw a simple turbo kit on and make a good 1000whp for track day...

  • Wouldn't an LS1 RX-7 actually be quicker than opposed to a rotary?

    IE: A 5 grand invested LS1 vs. a 5 grand invested rotary (That would be how much money you spend on mods on the motors)

    2. You didn't get what I said. IF you invested 5k in the LS1 and invested 5K in the Rotary, the LS1 would probably win. (This is if you do your own work, no labor costs)

    You can get a decent heads/cam/intake swap for an LS1 for about 2,500.  That makes a huge power increase on an LS1. If you were to go overboard, 3k.

    Fact is, this LS1 RX-7 was a better motor for such a light car IMO.

  • @xZZxTakedown ones that had owners that changed the oil evey oil and ran 87 in the are not. These cars are ment to be taken care of. Most people always neglect there cars so finding one with a blown motor should not be to hard

  • Plus I was talking about the car. When I refer to LS1, I mean a Camaro or a Trans Am. And yeah alot of people swap them themselves.

    The F-Body is pretty cheap WITH the LS1 in it. I couldn't find an RX-7 for under 10 grand unless it had a rebuilt motor, just the body without motor, or just a plain POS one.

    I however found a 2000 Z28 for 3k. That is good horsepower for cheap. Motor was in tact.
