The problem is, Eddie Izzard just seems irrationally bitter and angry about things but never seems to know what he's talking about. Fight the fascists? What fascists? How can he do that as an MP when there are no fascist MPs? He seems to pathologically hate, to an alarmingly dangerous extent, anyone slightly right of the British centre (which is much further left than the US centre - Just to put that in context for Americans, the British Conservative Party is supporting gay marriage).

It is still comedy, and still funny. I love British humor, but I don't think the US is devoid of it. I don't think this show represents what we have to offer. PS-Louis C.K. is pretty great, you're right. I don't really think anyone was all that funny on this show, must be the Canadian air.

What that program puts on the table is quite real and heavy stuff, gift wrapped in a nice ironic tone or sarcastic comment. It's pretty good, but also pretty sad seeing as that truly is the state of your union.

I like being able to get this kind of insight into their real feelings and goals with what they are and what they're doing.

And it makes sense. Jimmy Carr is one of the funniest people ever, but it's the types like George Carlin, Tim Minchin and Eddie Izzard I prefer, even when they don't make me laugh, because they talk about the real problems we have to deal with.
