  • if only we knew how poorly this adaptation would turn out

  • Anyone else ever compare Beatrice to GLaDOS or was that just me lol.

  • Is this the trailer for the 2nd seasons?

  • @shunkwugga Keep in mind that it was never stated that Kyrie and Rudolf were the true murderers. It fact, it was never stated outright what REALLY happened on Rokkenjima when everyone was killed. Battler kept the catbox closed for Ange's sake, knowing it would be better off if she didn't know the truth rather than if she did.

  • @shunkwugga Just because Higurashi is a fictional series in the Umineko universe doesn't mean that Higurashi is fictional in ALL worlds. No, Bernkastel is not Rika, but she is actually a collection of all Rika's bad memories from each kakera she went through in the form of a witch. And also, don't take the whole thing about Bern being a cat too seriously.

  • Shikata Akiko - Umineko no Naku Koro ni.

    That's the song for everyone wondering. You can find it here;

    /watch?v=6K8XEcZ1tzE

  • Higurashi is more thought provoking and forever will stay as my favorite, but if you like crazy costumes, magic, and Phoenix Wright clones, Umineko is for you.

  • Why would someone kill someone just by saying something in Umineko?

  • anyone tell me if this is good?

  • I really like this too bad Icant find it in english. I dun think its all english out yet... whats thatlittle scary girls name? :O

  • @MrNomshu maria they have the subbed version on youtube

  • have you read Umineko no naku koro episode X? It makes absolutely no sense but its a umineko - higurashi crossover that is hilarious

  • Is it me or does the song used sound similar to Utau Oka. Were they done by the same person?

  • What's the name of this song?

  • @NutNapalm Umineko no naku koro ni! :3

  • Comment removed

  • They are different stories, with different plots and differetn characters. Higurashi is one thing and Umineko is another. Both, they are made by 07th Expansion.

  • Comment removed

  • @shadowmark7 umineko is technically called When They Cry 3: When the Sea gulls Cry, however you do not hav to watch it in any special order. this does take place years after the whole hinamizawa, however it's not including any of that story or characters.

  • There're still hints like Bernkastel looks SO like rika! And in the SN she did use nipa as far as I remember O_o but SN and anime are little bit different....unfortunetly^_^

  • it's not the grown up.. they just look similiar. In Higurashi Rei, you can also see Frederica Bernkastel is mentioned by Rika as a witch, and Rika is saying she has to stop pretending and be a normal human as well. ^^

  • the anime is adapted from the game . the game is like a visual novel, if u see it like a game then things will be easier to understand.

  • Battler and beatrice are playing the game whos the culprit and how did he kill those people or something T_T

  • @steeltitan149

I was like you very confusing, but when I watched further episode I think i got it. Battler at the end when everyone almost died still don't believe that Witches existed. Beatrice found it interesting and brought him to another world. They play a game. The event repeated is cause, i believe, that Beatrice and Battle started the game and murders happens again. Beatrice is trying to make them believe that She's the culprit and Battler needs to make it as if the culprit is a human.

  • @ChubbyEmmy Your corrected!!!

  • @ ddr YAY XD

  • please tell me , if i am live in america , how i can play the visual novel of umineko in english in my computer , are a page for it or how i can play umineko ?

  • yed you buy the japanes EP4 on Himeyashop(dot)com then you download the patch at the wich-hunts website witch-hunt(dot)com

  • ohhh xD so simply sry iam so silly xD

    thanks for the info ^_^

  • umineko is awesome....but i have a question ^-^

what the name of this song? ^_^

Higurashi is...good...but Umineko is so awesome ^-^

  • Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, is the name of the song xD It's the visual novel opening~

  • @Blendamedwarrior The song's the first VN opening, it's just called Umineko no Naku Koro ni. It's by Akiko Shikata.

  • Might I ask how Higurashi is related to Umineko? Or vice versa? ^w^

  • @AnimexEmerald Nope. Has absolutely no relatoin to higurashi. Good storyline and plot though and just as mind-boggling and a bit bloody :D! WATCH IT!

  • @AnthonyTheMr Actually, it does have a small relation to Higurashi. Bernkastel is actually the witch of Furude Rika. In Higurashi, Rika isn't really human. Her 'Frederica Bernkastel' self can see all the fragments of possibilities in the universe. So Bernkastel is actually Rika, one and only. Also, it is made by the same people who made Higurashi, and some of the characters are cameo characters.

  • @EmoXGirloxxo

Nope. Rika is a fictional character in a book Battler read called "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni." Bernkastel is a cat in his room, and Lambdadelta is a cake. Battler's parents are the true culprits with him as an accomplice and he couldn't live with what he did. "Battler" is dead, but his body is still alive as Hachijo Toya, the author of various stories regarding the events.

  • @shunkwugga that's probably in the manga, and I haven't read that, only seen the anime. and in Higurashi Kai, Rika says that she is Bernkastel, which automatically shows the ties between the two series, and she plain out says 'maybe I should stop being bernkastel for a while'.

  • @EmoXGirloxxo

No, I know what you're talking about, and you're wrong. In EP2 of Umineko, Battler mentions having read a mystery novel called Higurashi. It's probably where he got the name. The truth of the series ending (EP8 of Umineko Chiru) is that Battler made everything up. Bernkastel is literally a cat in his room that's bothering him. Lambdadelta is a cake.

  • @AnimexEmerald well it made by the same people as higurashi so it has some relation

  • @Blendamedwarrior hello! the song have the same name

Umineko no naku koro ni by akiko mmm send me a mp and a give you a link for dowload the album

  • I'm playing the game and, its so scary, I cannot play it alone. Its scary how--- NVM I shall not spoil.

  • So is this another Higurashi or just same writer and same creepy mysterious feel.

  • It's obivously not a new season from higurashi, but I'm not completetly sure all the same writers have worked on this one. but I guess it is from the same writers

  • there is only one writer in higurashi

  • we weren't talking about higurashi but abut the no Naku Koro in general

  • yeah but there is only one writer in umineko to he is the same guy and his writing has went up several steps in umineko making it far more awsome than higurashi (and higurashi was still awsome)

  • It is a game?

  • Ads in Japan are really different, I would expect the ad to contain more death and suspense.

  • this anime is so damn great

the five episodes ive seen until now where so awesome!

  • AHh, can't wait for the last two episode#''s of this it's so amazing :D

  • omiigosh its like by the same creator!!

  • whats it about? it seems interesting but not as GREATLY AWESOME as Higurashi.

  • It has the same concept. Find the culrpit and solve the mystery of Hinamizawa *COUGH* the island.

    Yes it is very interesting.

  • It's better. More death, and there's magic...maybe. Nobody knows for sure, but the games force you to take a stance of either anti-mystery (IT WAS MAGIC) or anti-fantasy (HUMANS DID IT ALL).

  • lol thank you. i plan to check it out once im done with negima!

  • ahahaha same here xD

  • @nerdychick1025 it is much better than higurashi

  • @nerdychick1025 You know, usually people make an attempt to watch both before forming an opinion. Unless you DON'T want your opinion to hold any validity...

  • @nerdychick1025 Actually, Higurashi is basically just a bonus to Umineko. [SPOILER] You see, Bernkastel basically created Rika Furude to see how long one girl could endure endless pain until she finds happiness. The Umineko anime doesn't cover half as much as the Visual Novels, so you're better off with those, although the art isn't amazing, the story is highly entertaining and really stimulates your brain, are witches real, or not?

  • @nerdychick1025 =__= If you've watched Higurashi, then it's against the rules not to play Umineko! :D

  • anyone who knows where i can findUmineko no naku koro ni episodes? please answer ^^

  • you can find them on watchanimeon :)

  • I recognized the anime style from the Romeo X Juliet anime, I think I start this series :D

  • the music reminds me of the GUST games XD

  • in answer to sesshy77 no maria is sensitive to the supernatural

  • animecrazy(dot)net has 2 of the episodes so far with sub titles ^^ It's really good so far, great drawings

  • o.O i was going to call you a website spammer but that would be wrong sorry... just went to see for myself and they do have 2 eps so far. ill watch it although i dont think it will be as good as higurashi.

  • up until now (i saw 4 episodes of it) it's even better than higurashi :3

  • D: nothings better then higurashi

  • Where can I watch this? Does anyone know what website I can see it in English or with English subs? Please help! :]

  • I don't know about this, it looks good, but I'm such a die hard fan of Higurashi that I don't know if I could deal witth all new characters

  • It is a vastly different setting and story from Higurashi. But it carries the same creepy feel.

  • the BGM sounds like a very promising RPG

  • Just finished watching the 1st episode, and i'm not trying to be funny but is sumthing wrong with the lil girl Maria(mentally).

  • I like it! First episode was good, can't wait for next.

  • I just watched the first episode yesterday! It was quite interesting.

  • Is this a remake of another anime?

  • Sort of. It's an anime version of a mystery visual novel of the same name. I think there's a manga. It's by the people who did Higurashi.

  • That makes more since.

  • ep 1 is out already ^_^

  • when the anime is gonna be out?

  • I heard it started airing yesterday!

  • this looks really good! yay!!!! x

  • did anyone notice that the person thats outlined at :59 looks like Rena from the Higurashi series? i mean i know its by the same guy, but is the Higurashi cast in here?

  • well, at least two of them, in some manner, though not the one you're thinking of....

  • yah its frederica bernkastel (Bern) and...who was the other one? i keep thinking its takano but im not sure

  • That'd be the witch Lambdadelta, who would appear to be to Takano as Bernkastel is to Rika.

  • Bernkastel and Rika arent related, the only time Frederica appears in Higurashi is at the end of kai wen she stops takanos parents from dying

  • ono daisuke = win

  • is it just me, or did the art change drastically? It's has more of a Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney look. ( Not saying it's bad, just pointing it out )

  • Well, yeah, it takes place on a mansion in 1986, so the setting's gotta look different, yknow.

  • Umineko..

    More like..

Akasaka Mamoru combines with Maebara Keiichi..

To create a brand new level in badass.

  • Can't wait for the 80s art style to be ruined again. ;_;

  • If this is anything with blood, I'm watching it.

  • This one features faces clawed out.

    That interest you?

  • 蔵臼(Kurauss) voice:Okonogi 『Higurashi』

    絵羽(Eva) voice:Miyo Takano 『Higurashi』

    楼座(Rosa) voice:Horo 『Ookami to Koushinryou』

  • wtf im confused is this the continuation after higurashi rei or another story that links to higurashi.

  • watch the video, then you will know.

  • it's not a continuation, but it has links with higurashi. but whatever it is, it's got to be !@#$ing awesome :P

  • I'm pretty sure this is another murder mystery type story similar to Higurashi. However, I think Frederica Bernkastel also appears in this one.

  • who is frederica was she in higurashi

  • Umineko is not connected to Higurashi, is another story, which has place on the island. Story plot is similiar, but these are two difrents things :) Just read on MAL.

  • The identity of one of the witches has a very real connection to Higurashi. That's it, but it is a connection.

  • It IS related..... if u play the game you will know some witch were from higurashi

  • One char... lol... one character dont make two diffrent animes similiar :P

  • Frederica, in the games, provides clues to the stories through cryptic poems. She appears in the very last Higurashi Kai episode, the tall lady who looks like Rika.

  • so frederica was the lady who prevented the death of takane miyo's parents?

  • yes

  • Yep.

  • meh my mind is still fucked up from higurashi im still confused bout couple of parts lol

  • Does anyone know the name of the song?

    thanks ^_^

  • it's called Umineko no Naku Koro ni by Akiko Shikata

  • does the singer sing for the game ar tonelico?

  • yes

  • Yeah it's Akiko Shikata the one who did the singing voices for Mishia from AT1 and Cloche from AT2

  • Oh cool, I knew the vocal sounded familiar. Didn't expect to hear such in a anime. But then again who would expect Yuki Kajiura composing for Xenosaga. Awesome. Looking forward to this. May have to pick up the music if it's good.

  • where have i heard this singer from anyone ...~IDEAs~

  • Hey guys, hey guys!!! Listen up! great news!! they are gonna keep the original opening as opening to the anime!!... perhaps you guys already knew that.....

  • that has not been confirmed the only thing confirmed it is the same artist. Which IMO is better since we get another song by her.

  • really? About that i don't know i'm not japanese so read with google translate and the characters thats used in chinese... I asume i got it wrong...

  • No, the new opening will be called "Kata Tsubasa no Tori" by the same artist.

  • July 2009 people!

    Can't wait.

  • i know!

  • there will be anime??

im looking foward to it n_n

but the manga isn´t finished yet :D.. or is?

  • the back ground music sounds like Higurashi Matsuri's theme (the game) but in an opra form

  • the music sounds like the of ar tonelico.

    pretty cool.

  • i hope this is as good as higurashi

  • there's only one word for this.

    SWEET.

  • This is one of those times where I wish I understood Japanese.

  • is this a game???

  • there's a game for it but this is a trailer for the anime version that's coming out in july ^^

  • is a graphic novel and the anime is coming out

  • Visual novel. Different term. Graphic novel refers to comics. Visual novels refer to what are essentially comic books in game format... They're not really games, though, since there is almost no interaction. Higurashi and umineko are also Dojin (amateur) Visual novels. The top selling Dojin games of all time.

  • Seems interesting! xD

  • I can't wait for july when it comes out :p

  • AAHHH! Another masterpiece by Ryukishi07-san!

    I can't wait for it!!! BERN-*gets shot*

    *manages to avoid*

    Okok no spoilers... sheesh....

  • is there really episodes?

  • Background music is really good! Does anyone know its name?

  • Yup, it's the OP of the game (and probably the anime), and it's called Umineko no Naku Koro ni by Shikata Akiko

  • Thank you! :)

  • I am SO looking forward to this.

I heard its just as dark as the first two Higurashi, so I just can't wait to see it!

  • suggesting from what i've played, it's much darker than higurashi (considering how they died)

  • MHMM THIS HIGURASHI IS THE SHIT YO!

  • this isnt higurashi DX

  • Uh what? What the hell? Ok fine this isnt higurashi but its way better and made by the same people so HA!

  • I think they're both good :\... XD Higurashi and Umineko are so awesome

  • The music in the backround sounds a bit like the later atelier series op. Awesome vid anyways.

  • yeah and it also sounds similar to the PS2 game: Ar tonelico 2

  • I found a screenshot of the anime & it looks creepy & kickass.

  • I... don't see how that's possible.

Considering they have only released the character designs. The only kind of 'screenshot' I've seen around are the fanmade ones, which look amazingly accurate.

  • ...I don't understand what you're saying.

Of course I watched Higurashi, I know it's from the same studio, but so far, there has been no release of 'screenshots' only the character sketches.

What I meant by amazingly accurate, is that the pictures look like they were taken directly from an anime.

  • maybe she ment screen shots from the visual novel

  • Maybe, lol.

  • Hurray we switch from alternate universes and the Many Worlds Theory to black magic. Frederika, the lady at the end of Higurashi that looks like older Rika, is in this anime (i think). Time to mess with the next set of people!

  • Of course Frederica Bernkastel is in Umineko ;D She's amazing, along with Lambdadelta.

  • Lambdadelta FTW. <3

  • agree, 100%

    XD

  • It isn't Frederica Bernkastel. It is Bernkastel.

  • Which is HINTED to being Frederica Bernkastel. But yes, she's just Bernkastel.

  • Well, she's not Frederica Bernkastel. Frederica is just somethign Bern sent in made by memories. Bern is actually Rika (Read Saikoroshi-hen)

  • Umm, Bernkastel is the same as Frederika Bernkastel in Rei. It said so in both Rei and Umineko. It even says so on the TIPS in the game, after the hidden tea party. Her name is Frederica Bernkastel, the poem writer who was born from Rika's memories, otherwise known as Rei. Frederica and Furude Rika are not the same, Ryukishi even released this information through the poem after Himatsubushi-hen. Just making it clear. Make sure you read ALL of Umineko, okies? My friends who read both confirmed.

  • Well, she's not entirely Frederica Bernkastel, since Frederika was made by Rika's memories of a hundred years(Or struggles, whatever) that means that it would be like this Rika = Frederika = Bernkastel wich would be that Bern is Frederika, but in that turn Frederika is Rika.

  • Er....... Bern = Frederica. Frederica is not Rika. Ryukishi has said so in Bern's poems. They're not the same. Frederica Bernkastel and Bernkastel are though. I've confirmed this a bunch of times with different people..

  • But then Saikoroshi-hen would be a lie, wouldn't it? Rika even says "It would be wrong to call me Furude Rika... Because if I did, that person might dissappear. I'll call myself... Bernkastel. Frederica Bernkastel." And I do know Rika and Frederica aren't the same persons. But Frederica was made out of Rika (She isn't the real Rika, but she is another Rika) so then bern would be Rika.

  • No, she calls herself Bernkastel because that's not her, it's Bernkastel, and that's the witch. Humans can't go back and forth in time, now can they? She's been Bernkastel for awhile, but she was realizing it. The Rika of the other world was the true Furude Rika, at least thats what I got from it all. I really don't wanna argue, we could both be wrong, and it's not that important.

  • Well, from Saikoroshi-hen the Rika that struggled a hundred years became a witch though that was another person than Furude Rika. But there is still a link between Rika and Bern

  • The whole Frederica/Rika thing is confusing. They're two different people who are a part of each other. Rika most likely split off Frederica to save Hinamizawa, considering she's been alive for less time than Frederica...who was present during Miyo's childhood, and even helped create a world where she doesn't end up orphaned and on the path to destroy Hinamizawa to prove her adopted grandfather right. I'm pretty sure this is the same world as the one Rika goes to after being hit by a truck.

  • rika is more like a "tool" of frederika, and that world she goes to after being hit by a truck is, as far as I know, one illusion created by Hanyu

  • Who knows, it's played off as a coma-dream as far as I know. But it looks like the one world that would have happened if Frederica had interfered in Miyo's life, like she did in Higurashi Kai. She's never orphaned, never pursues her grandfather's research, the research itself is never worked on (as far as I know, Takano was just a doctor) and Hinamizawa never experiences deaths...so the dam project continues as planned.

  • Well, Rika has been living longer than Frederica. Frederica resembles Rika's struggles.

  • and whats the story about? oO
