  • People all of this nonsense about the visor is now immaterial

Recent video footage taken by an independent body clearly shows a hole in the side of the ship and when pieces of the metal were taken for expert examination 3/4 experts concluded that an explosion from within was the cause of the hole. The other expert said the test was inconclusive.

Why also was the bow visor' bolt, recovered from the sea thrown back into the sea once discovered by stenstrom when it would have prove him right

  • The deckhouse on this model is sealed, so it didn't capsize as the real ship SHOULD have.

  • how big is that model?

  • All the people in there.. oh, i feel bad ):

  • 15 years ago now, R.I.P Estonia and all the people that sank with her.

  • what's the scale of that model? 1/100?

  • 1/1000

  • this model was build to scale 1:40 of the original ship.

  • wait, what?

  • this is cool. the bow visor would have made the video better. if u watch all of them in order, it makes sense. by the way ,where did u get the model?

  • I haven't done that modell.

  • @boomboomOO7 The model was constructed by an Investigation Branch to find out what effect the water had exactly on the ship. The model was used in a testing pool where the waves were created by a wave effect machine.

  • What I don't quite understand is how you could make full sized water molecules flow through a model ship as they would flow through the actual Estonia. Seems like the natural stickiness and surface tension of water would make the results come out skewed...

  • Absolutely right, I was wondering the same thing.

  • No, youre wrong. MV Estonia had a bowvisor, and during her trip in 1994 in bad weather, the visor broked at som instand, and falled of the ship and opened the car ramp so the the water entered the cardeck. They dont had the visor with on this model, because witness that water entered the cardeck, just before it falled of from the ferry.

  • I stand corrected. :)

  • i heard that explosives were found where entry door broke

  • No, there were not.

  • Thats true. Explosives where found there. They used them to so they could detach the visor a week later . The swedish goverment knows that and a few of them recognized it

  • U are wrong the Visor never did fell of. Vitneses could se the visor when Estonia sank. It was JAIC that said the visor fell of. The ramp was closed not opend. Vitnese in the enginroome could se the ramp was closed from the monitors. SSPA and JAIC isn not telling the truthe

  • actualy there was something wrong with the camera the visor was found far away from the ship itself and for the ramp the visor ripped it open

  • that was another ferry dude......

  • @gladnicke3 Thanks for the correction. I was misinformed. :(

  • You are probably thinking of MS Herald of Free Enterprise. That too was a RORO ferry, although much smaller, and it capsized due to the doors being left open, and water entering the car deck.

  • @vexviper I think you're thinking about the Herald of free Enterprise

  • @vexviper i think you are talking about M/S Herald of Free Enterprise

  • can see only up to third vid.can't find the fourth!anyone??

  • Im working on it, its coming up soon..

  • Thanx anyway. it was helpful for a report on the incident that we had to write up

  • that boat is messed up.
