Your taste in music has to be one of the broadest around. Anyway, I'm glad that you will listen to what you like and not allow others to shame you out of it. Have a good day.
I listen to all the latest hits, Jason Derulo, Rihanna, Ke$ha, all of them,
My mom never really made me listen to the 'oldies' like Elvis and Johny Cash, or the Beatles,
Some newer rock of her time, yea,
But not this,
But, I'm still one of those few girls of my generations who will search youtube just to find this kind of music, the beatles, Jim Reeves, etc. , and, I'm proud of it,
When I first heard Jim Reeves sing 'Four Walls' and 'Welcome to my World' I considered those his signature songs. Then I heard 'Distant Drums' - 'When Two Worlds Collide' etc. etc... and it dawned on me as I was listening to him sing, that he brings them all alive and they becomes his. Without any doubt one of the 'true legends' --- thanks for sharing
I never had the pleasure of meeting Jim. But I had the pleasure of knowing the Blue Boys, his band. Leo Jackson, his lead guitar player was with him from the very beginning. Then there was Bud Logan, the producer of John Conley hits. Then there was Bunky, piano player. Never thought I would forget the drummer but I have. Old age. The guys shared a lot of great memories they had of Jim. And they were all excellent musicians. It was great to know them all. We lost Leo sometime back so so sorry.
Jim recorded this song on May 18, 1964, but it wasn't released until 1970. My favorite quote about Jim Reeves- "Smooth, just mellow. When he comes on that radio I just about have to stop my car, and if my kids are makin' any racket I tell 'em to hush, because one of the most beautiful voices God ever gave to a human being is fixin' to sing. I don't think there's ever been a more beautiful voice than Jim Reeves."-----Jerry Clower, 1982
@oldtexasmusic I've been looking for the original "Missing Angel"without the overdub.Do you by chance have it to download? It was here a few months ago,but it's gone. Yes, I agree.Jim is one of a kind.I've loved him since I was about 13 years old. I am now 63! Thanks.
I just found this little gem in my subbed section Marcus. What a great treat. Thank you so much my friend. You have an extra large parcel t pick up...Jan and Susan. ♥
As I unwind from a long day of giving the lawn a 'manicure' and sprucin' up the plant life...it is so refreshing to log on to YT and be treated to the warm and comforting vocals of the legendary Mr. Reeves. Thank you,my friend.
@stewballmax3 Max, as you can see my plans have changed. I am now posting what I want, as long as the copyright is owned by Sony or UMG or WMG. The time required to see if a particular song is on You Tube before I post it and the information is not always accurate. Glad you like it. Happy listening.
