I lost mine in the first round. Who in fuck uses controllers in a Street Fighter tournament? Playing Street Fighter with a controller is the equivalent of eating peanut butter and jelly on a spoon. It's difficult, it's stupid, and no one should ever do it. The arcade stick is the bread you need to hold this sandwich. And with a controller, the sandwich is fucked.

I would say the d-pad is not all bad. Its all i have been using since sf4 dropped here in the UK.

I have completed Challenge mode with Blanka, Bison, Guile, Dhalsim, & recently Zangief. Both normal and hard.

I've won a lot of XBL ranked matches . Also i disabled the FP+MP+LP LK+MK+FK option too! ;) So i do ultras using all three buttons manually :)

That said each to his own. Use whatever works for you.

lol he got da wristbands but not the yellow headband. I got both too bad I had to see WWE smackdown the following weekend of round 1 lolz. Would've had to travel about 4 hours to play people on 360 in watertown or syracuse. Couldn't believe I won @ my store I had practicing on Street Fighter Alpha on my ps3 and it felt natural/similar when playing SF4 for the first time at the tourament. I didn't use the dpad, I used the analog stick on the fresh controllers they gave us. Only used Bison &Balrog

Another Round one winner here. I agree the dpad was bullshit, but the default button config was confusing me more then the controller. I use type b for pad so i was accidentally doing the wrong moves. I'm mildly upset that I couldn't use any unlockable characters because I wanted to curb stop some peeps with Sakura, but Sagat is my main, and the competition was a joke. I wanted more then anything to use my arcade stick. It would have been over before it started! Good luck to you on round two.

Gratz on the win. Must agree with you on BS move that they pulled making you use a controller. I was runner up in San Marcos Cali. I know at least 10 people quit because they had to use a controller and default controls, wish i coulda used my joystick. Surprised you got a red head band should got a yellow one but maybe it varies between stores. The reason being that you couldn't change your controls or use the "secret" characters is because they wanted to be as fair as possible i think its BS

Well, I reside in NY. The one hot spot arcade that even people from nearby Eastcoast states come to, is right in the heart of Chinatown. It's a very popular arcade and probably one of the few in all of NYC that is still active to this day. These guys had JUST started SF 4 while I had been playing it since last year.

So in a sense, in some spots the arcade scene is somewhat alive. But it definitely lacks the BOOM it had during the 90s. it will be missed : (

Brisbane city has 2 almost right next to each other going strong, Gold Coast has two, Sydney has 2, Melbourne (Box Hill) has a really good one, with the only maintained Pop'n Music machine in the country.

We always seem to get the Asian Arcade versions though.
