  • Please be aware that ExpertVilliage really isn't staffed by actual experts. She sucks. i'm a relative newbie and my cakes look better and that's really saying something.

    LOL? Experts don't always use fondant? And frosting and fondant aren't the same thing, clearly YOU are not an expert either. Frosting is always used as a base for fondant. though (frosting is beneath the fondant)

    Fondant tastes like shit and makes a cake look nice, nothing more

    and about the video:

    It's called a coupler and it seems like her bag was a bit full, the rosettes also are very different than how I've seen actual experts do it, but good job. ^^

  • I'd say instead of messing around with the piping back she wants to get a side scraper and get that cake in the background sorted out!! It's a mess!

  • Proper name is coupling, it is in 2 parts. Foundant is NOT frosting, thought it is a cake covering. Wow, if you have nothing nice to say, why say anything at all???? You always have the option to watch something else.

  • It is absolutely ridiculous to assume that professional pastry chefs or cake decorators only use fondant. That's like saying "you're not a real painter if you don't use oil paint". Some of the best cake experts in the world (like Rose Levy Beranbaum) frost some of their cakes (yes, even wedding cakes) with frosting. And why not? It certainly tastes better.

  • no she is obviously not an expert, if this was a professional cake made by an expert they would have used fondant for icing so the cake wasn't all crappy looking, trust me this is definitely not an expert.
