  • what tone!...crisp and clean...this is a hard song and you do a great job. Really enjoy your playing.

    Keep it up.

  • yawn, so boring!!!

  • @punxinparkas

Tack för att lyssna. Jag hoppas att min musik hjälper dig att sova gott.

  • Wow. I'd forgotten all about this song and here it is a great version and playing. Your guitar also is pretty darn nice sounding. Don't think I've played one of those before but it seems a great size and sound. Thanks, Mick

  • @hachamacha

Thanks Mick. This is one of my favorite McCartney tunes. My new guitar and I are becoming close friends. Gerald Sheppard makes an incredible instrument.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Lovely music for a slightly damp London morning, Allen.

That guitar and the picking sound better than ever.

    Happy new year,

    Barry.

  • @useryug

    Hi Barry!

How are you doing? London is wet? There's a news flash :-) Could be worse, you could be in the Hebrides.

Thanks for your comments. I wish you good health and lots of music in 2012.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Hi Allen, well done my friend, nice melody and very fine picking ,my compliments, groetjes Kees.

  • @Keesfarida

Dank je wel Kees. Je bent erg aardig.

    allen

  • sounds great! but dam, Adam you've let yourself go!!!

  • @jamiemchugh76

It happens to all of us sooner or later :-)

  • A pleasure to listen to, as usual. As others have said, it's great to see your finger picking style here... It seems so 'efficient' for want of a better term!

Something for us to aim for! Thanks!

  • @burg0110

Thank you. At my age efficiency counts allot :-)

    Cheers,

    allen

  • hi excellent t this is a perfect fingerstyle version of this classic song all thumbs up***********

  • @1wiesehoefer1

Thank you. I appreciate your kind words.

    allen

  • HI Allen,

I thought I already had commented on this beautiful rendition but it seems i didn't (or YT had disabled the function for a while). So here's what I think: B*R*A*V*O !!! This is one of my favorites of Sgt. Pepper too. Great arrangement of Adam, and your playing is just beautiful. You developed your right hand technique and play very concentrated and with time for every note to breath. Thanks for this pearl,

    Bernd

  • @BoeckmannLudwig

You are very kind Bernd and your words are very encouraging. This is the first time I have played with a floating right hand (not anchored on the bridge or pick-guard). It's becoming more natural. Thanks for your inspiration!

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Beautiful arrangement Allen. Sweet! One of my favorites too.

    MV

  • @MisterVirtual

Thanks MV! Thanks for listening and commenting.

    allen

  • Very moving with tranquility, but I have to admit that your original interpretation of 'She's Leaving Home' (here on YT) far surpasses this in intuition - never the less I have to admit that your performance is cool and top notch.

  • @Socratease1

Thank you for taking time to listen and share your thoughts. I am grateful for the input from you.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Beautiful!!!

    Martin

  • @BoeckmannLudwig

    Thank you Martin.

    allen

  • Just fabulous.

  • @allenowens2004

    Thanks!

  • Le tue registrazioni sono sempre impeccabili, il tuo tocco ormai lo riconoscerei anche ad occhi chiusi....bellissima esecuzione. e splendida chitarra

P.S. che tipo di accordatura hai usato?

Your recordings are always impeccable, your touch now I would recognize him even with closed eyes .... beautiful execution. and beautiful guitar

P.S. what kind of tuning did you use?

  • @bernablues

    Grazie mille Domenico!

    allen

    allen

  • OK... so can I pick my jaw up off the floor now?

  • @archtopbrownie

I hope it didn't hurt. We are both too old to be dropping body parts. Thanks for listening.

    allen

  • So intricately impressive Allen. I am in awe of the fulidity of your melody line and expression. And thanks for putting the lyrics up. It's been so long since I've heard this song. Paul got the inspiration from a newspaper article about a 17 year old named Melanie Coe who had left home in the afternoon while her parents were at work. Her bewildered parents found her 10 days later.....Excellent job Allen! ........Smiles....Pamela

  • @Harky1951

Thanks Pamela. Thank you also for the info on the inspiration for the lyrics.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Sorry Allen, I thought your name was Adam. lol! keep up the wonderful playing, In this world of manufactured musicians it's nice to see a true musician do his thing:)

  • @Johnnywhamo

No Worries Johnny. I get called all sorts of names. Not all of them nice :-)

Thank you for listening and taking the time to comment.

  • Hi Allen, very nice performance! And, beautiful solo guitar music! I like it.

  • @mkauchi

    Hi,

Thank you for listening and taking the time to comment.

    allen

  • Another beautiful job, Al! That's a lucky guitar.

  • @dansmithguitar

Thanks Dan. I'm the lucky one. I am becoming very attached to this guitar.

    Thanks for listening and encouraging!

    al

  • Allen Great playing and cool arrangement by Adam : )

  • @SIRONEDRAGON

Adam is amazing and one of my favorite players. Thanks for listening!

    allen

  • You are most welcome, Allen - well deserved!

  • Fantastic! Beautiful and lyrical, your playing is lovely and an inspiration. Thank you for posting this.

  • @viv2199

You are very kind. Thank you for listening and commenting.

    allen

  • Wow! That was really terrific. Did you pick up Adam's arrangement by ear and watching his video or some kind of transcriber? Some of the chord shapes sound pretty dissonant. I would love a crack at learning this one.

  • @pullinstringstheband

Thanks. I like your channel very much. (I subscribed)

I use a software program Transcribe! (The name includes the exclamation character !)

From Seventhstring software I can slow down the playback and maintain pitch. It's a very clever tool and easier than working with ears alone.

    Have fun.

    Allen

  • Allen

I always liked this tune and appreciated the emotional tug of war in the lyrics. This is a wonderful arrangement and, as usual, your playing is excellent. Well done and Bravo!

    Sam

  • @TheGaboatman

Thanks Sam. Like you I am drawn to these lyrics. McCartney was in his 20's when he wrote this. Much wisdom from such a young man.

    allen

  • amazing as usual, allen, keep playing as always, many guys like me are watching your creations, anyways good playing =D

  • @DANGILBERT03

Thank you very much for listening and commenting. You are very kind.

    allen

  • Enjoyed every minute of this fine playing while I was reading the lyrics. The music is absolutely suitable. Very well done. I also admire a good steelstring... and this one is good!

    Cheers - Sabine

  • @SabMei1

Thank you Sabine. I am becoming best friends with this steel string :-)

Good health to you and family in 2012. Lots of music also.

    allen

  • @carvetop01

Thanks allen - the same to you and yours! Nice to listen again to your playing.

  • Hi Allen, you know how much I love this special song. It´s the first tune I heard by Adam longer ago, and you did it justice. He did a nice arrangement,... why: the mixed emotions - her freedom of leaving, and on the other side the pain of the parents. Its found in the little dissonances. The Beatles (George Martin) did it too soft, too much beauty, this one is better, or at least the best a steelstring can do

    Frank

  • @FrankRMusic

Thank you Frank. I think these lyrics speak to all parents and teenagers. How did McCartney attain this wisdom at such a young age?

I think George Martin may be my favorite Beatle. His contribution to the Beatle's compositions can not be overstated.

Adam creates magic with this arrangement. It is understated. Not one unneeded note. There is much I can learn from him. (Also You and Vic and Uli and Bernd).

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Hi Allen, this is my favorite song from adam. Very nice playing.

    beautiful.

    Greetings from Detmold/Germany

    Joerg

  • @joerchBr

Thank you Joerg. The credit goes to Adam. I love his arrangements.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Hi Allen,

fantastic performance. Adam's arrangements are always very clever and tasteful. Very balanced and rich sound. Lots of sustain and great tone even on the high strings.

Very well done and thanks for sharing!

    Uli

  • @Mpoiuz

    Hi Uli,

Thank you. Adam can say allot with a few notes. Lots of time for each note to say something. You have the same ability as Adam. Both of you are excellent instructors.

I think this is the first video I have uploaded with nothing added to the acoustic tone. No Reverb or effects of any kind. Also no amplification. Just straight mic to recorder. Very low-tech :-) I am very pleased with this new guitar. Lots of "sweet spots". Also amazing sustain.

    Cheers my friend,

    allen

  • That was quite the performance.

Is the tuning just in standard?

  • @TOMtheMADLAD

no, I meant is it in drop D.

  • @TOMtheMADLAD

Drop D tuning. I should have added that to my comments. Sorry.

Thank you for listening and commenting,

    allen

  • Great performance and sound Allen, you've really done Adam's arrangement (and this classic song) justice. Thanks for posting, a real treat! Best, TD

  • @ThinkingDog06

Thanks TD. Adam has a way of saying much with few notes. Each note has a chance to breath. I have always had a tendency to over harmonize. This arrangement and his arrangement of "Somewhere" are perfect examples of "less is more". It's hard to go wrong with great material.

I hope to hear much more playing from you in 2012. You are a damn fine player.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Well done Allen. This song is my favorite off the album also. I love the way the song was extended with the section in the beging and the end. Nice!

    Steve

  • @Stevepat1

Thanks Steve. How are your hands feeling these days? Does it still hurt you to play?

I hope you heal soon my friend,

    allen

  • @carvetop01 Getting better all the time. Pain seems to be going away so I've been practicing. Hopefully all put something out soon. Thanks Allen.

  • @Stevepat1

That's great news Steve. I'm looking forward to your new post. Give yourself a chance to heal. Don't push too hard.

    allen

  • Very well done Bravo

  • @1moreguitarplayer

Thanks Nick. You have become quite prolific with your recordings. I wish I could do that. It takes me awhile to get the feel of new arrangements. Maybe I'm just getting old :-)

    allen

  • Wow that's a real pretty rendition of a pretty song.

  • @Johnnydoxx

    Thank you Johnny!

    allen

  • Hinton, this is EXCELLENT!!!! Bravo, Maestro! Thank You....

  • @crescentridge

Thank you Adam. It's hard to go wrong with your material. There is much to learn from your arrangements for all who will take the time to listen carefully. Your phrasing is spot on. Your harmony is tasteful, interesting and clever. You say much with few notes. Each note has it's own meaning. I suppose it's ironic that often times less is more.

    Thank you for the inspiration,

  • Very good. Beautiful playing. You ara a great playing.

That mic is that? The sound quality is great.

I'll look for one of those here in Brazil.

  • @albecc

Thank you very much. The mic is an APEX 460 tube. I added no effects or amplification. Just straight from mic to recorder. Not very expensive.

    allen

  • Beautiful playing Allen and a mighty fine arrangement of a great Classic Beatles tune, I never heard a bad composition from them ever. The right hand moving very good and precise. This guitar has beautiful tone and well recorded. Is that a Rhode mike you're using Allen, what I hear it's a condenser Mike, catches the whole tone spectrum beautifully, very good work, greetings Vic.

  • @Jazzguts

    Hi Vic,

Thanks for listening and your kind words.

The Mic is an APEX 460 tube mic. I did not use any effects or amplification just mic directly to recorder. I thought about adding a touch of reverb but I think it sounds fine without. The Swiss spruce top is becoming much more active since I received it back in November.

I am looking forward to much new music from you in 2012. You always inspire.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Very nice Allen - Pretty music - So nice to listen to. Thanks for sharing. Gwen

  • @cadjunk

    Thank you Gwen.

    allen

  • Allen, you start this year with beautiful sounds ...

I admire your virtuosity that becomes visible here again.

May this New Year bring you nothing than blessings

and for us more music from you!

    Crystal

  • @CNlyrical

Thank you Crystal! I hope this new year brings us both good health and much much music!

    allen

  • @carvetop01

A wonderful wish, may it come true!

  • (:>)

  • Nicely done!! Whoever helped you with the video and lighting did a great job!!

  • @naincee1

    smartass

  • Lovely Sound:Bravo!!!

  • @LanzettaGino

Thanks Gino. It's still a new guitar but it is settling in nicely.
