Wounds appear and heal by themselves. These markings considered a 'sign' of the Crucifixion since it generally appears on hands/wrists and feet often with head and side wounds such as those inflicted by the Crown of Thorns and Roman lance while on the Cross.

@uzairmug Obviously, Abu Lahab's refusing the dogma would cause Muhammed to express anger and cursing towards him and his wife. Surah 19:71-72 says ALL muslims will be going into hell fire. That includes "the false prophet" himself as well as ALL followers of Islam including you. So, even if Abu Lahab had professed faith, he would still have gone to hell fire anyway.
