When I am Queen, my first order of business will be to perform an inception on everyone, so that when anyone complains about the Peter Jackson "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, this starts playing on an endless loop in their heads for a week. All will love me and despair.
Wow, that's a narmy movie. I wonder why Bakshi chose to animate only certain parts the same, leaving live action horses and an army, and a semi-animated couple dancing that just freaks me out.
Also, I'm wondering if during the movie, as the spear hit Frodo, there was a comically drawn-out "nnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" Would've fit. Although it didn't look like the spear went in more than an inch or two.
Love the scene at the 40 second mark where Aragon is clearly talking to a *PHOTOCOPY* of Gimli. Says everything you need to know about the animation in this movie.
@XxIronSpiderxX 17 years. That's got to be my longest seizure ever. Also... I'm quite unnerved by the fact that Boromir has, and I'm going to say this again, a viking helmet. Honestly. Is that traditional garb for Men of Gondor? When Aragorn the miniskirt wearing Ranger gets crowned, is he going to get the biggest horns in the kingdom? Oh yeah, and Sam. Poor, poor Sam. Purists, please deride PJ all you want, at least he made hobbits look remotely normal.
It's funny how Peter Jackson at first claimed never to have seen Bakshi's film but only after his were released did he say they were an influence on his own.
I guarantee had Bakshi's film not come out, Peter Jackson's characters and settings would look much different.
Thank you. You just made my day. I'm crying I'm laughing so hard right now.
When I watched this as a kid, I always though the animation was a little weird and unattractive, but having not seen it in years then watching this now, I finally realize just how freaking weird and hilarious rotoscope can make things look.
And what the hell's up with Treebeard looking like a giant carrot with limbs??
"his and Aragorn's Herbal Essence commercial running scene"
I never knew how to describe this part properly but you just gave me the right words. Thank you soooo much for this video it's sooo effing great XD XD XD *still laughs her head off*
You know, I hadn't noticed it until now, but doesn't Legolas look like Link's little brother that he doesn't like to talk about in this? Why is he cross-eyed through the whole thing?

I love the Rankin Bass "Return of The King". The production had no choice in paring down situations and characters, but the voices are splendid and the animation (particularly Eowyn's battle with the Witch King) is still impressive.
Dirtfire, the sequel was a Rankin/Bass... And it was dreadful! Sorry to the people who liked it, but that is my opinion. My, my! Butt ugly hobbits and no Gimli or Legolas.
But it was the 70/80`s... They did as well as they could.
omg, can't stop laughing! this film was so awesome, but you really picked the best bits. The mad 17 years, Frodo's despairing headshake at Sam, Aragorn and Legolas's baywatch run, Treebeard the overgrown marching carrot...
Also, Aragorn's miniskirt makes me uncomfortable. And were Frodo and Sam really scared of the leaf?
*laughs/coughs at screen* I second that! This movie is scary beyond all reason. Amusingly horrific, though. ;P Excessive rolling of the letter "r" and all that. XD
Geeze, 40 seconds into the thing, I nearly fell over laughing. WTF horse/dwarf? And 2:19 looks painful! Ha! Geeze, I don't remember this movie very well, despite watching it loads of times when I was little.
I hate how none of the mens wear pants. It's like Aragorn's allergic to them or something... o.O
Love the video! But one thing is bothering me... I`ve never really been very fond of this movie, but I think Bakshi could have finished the triology(hope I spelled that right). I really want to see what Faramir and Denethor looks like, how Merry and Eowyn stabs the witchking and how Aragorn meets Arwen again in this version.

No, not Disney. Rankin/Bass did Return of The king.
Anyway, this made me laugh so hard xD that movie was kind of silly. I hate how they did Samwise, as he is my favourite characters, I imagened his looks to be a little bit... cuter.
Bakshi was trying to fit the entire LotR into just 2 movies, and I don't care how good a writer or director you are, that just can't be done. You'd have to cut out and change so much that it would just end up awful. It can't even be properly contained in 3 movies, I say.

I loved this. I remember watching this a few years ago and finding it both painful and hilarious. Great job; I laughed out loud at several parts of this video.
Maybe if Bakshi had put a soundtrack like that into the film, it... nah, it still wouldn't have been that good. Everybody in that picture moves like oatmeal in an Earthquake! Anyway, good job.
The movie was mediocre to begin with, by putting the song on top of it makes it even more hiliarious. Just putting all the embarassing moments in is priceless enough
