  • When I am Queen, my first order of business will be to perform an inception on everyone, so that when anyone complains about the Peter Jackson "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, this starts playing on an endless loop in their heads for a week. All will love me and despair.

  • Wow, that's a narmy movie. I wonder why Bakshi chose to animate only certain parts the same, leaving live action horses and an army, and a semi-animated couple dancing that just freaks me out.

Also, I'm wondering if during the movie, as the spear hit Frodo, there was a comically drawn-out "nnnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" Would've fit. Although it didn't look like the spear went in more than an inch or two.

  • Legolas kinda-sorta looks like Brittany from Glee

  • I literally screamed at 3:20

  • Aragorn is always happy, because he isn't wearing any pants!

  • Love the scene at the 40 second mark where Aragon is clearly talking to a *PHOTOCOPY* of Gimli. Says everything you need to know about the animation in this movie.

  • this is epic

  • I think I've figured out what I hate about these movies.

They make Aragorn, Sam, and many others look old, retarded, and many other mean adjectives.

    Also 1:04

    SEVENTEEN YEARS PASSED

  • @XxIronSpiderxX 17 years. That's got to be my longest seizure ever. Also... I'm quite unnerved by the fact that Boromir has, and I'm going to say this again, a viking helmet. Honestly. Is that traditional garb for Men of Gondor? When Aragorn the miniskirt wearing Ranger gets crowned, is he going to get the biggest horns in the kingdom? Oh yeah, and Sam. Poor, poor Sam. Purists, please deride PJ all you want, at least he made hobbits look remotely normal.

  • This is fantastic.

  • What I really must know is why Treebeard has become a giant carrot. D:

Seriously - wonderful job. xD I lul'd long and hard.

  • when gallandrea looks at samwise is fucking classic

  • I wanna take that class...

  • Legolas has a rare disease that makes his chin disappear when he runs.

Don't laugh, he deserves your pity.

  • @sasuke510 It's hard being an elf with Down's Syndrome.

  • Oh god...oh god. Hilarious.

  • It's funny how Peter Jackson at first claimed never to have seen Bakshi's film but only after his were released did he say they were an influence on his own.

I guarantee had Bakshi's film not come out, Peter Jackson's characters and settings would look much different.

  • ha ha LOLZ. I had to run this song through my head whilst watching this film for the first time.

  • HILARIOUS.

    That is all.

  • Thank you. You just made my day. I'm crying I'm laughing so hard right now.

When I watched this as a kid, I always though the animation was a little weird and unattractive, but having not seen it in years then watching this now, I finally realize just how freaking weird and hilarious rotoscope can make things look.

And what the hell's up with Treebeard looking like a giant carrot with limbs??

  • @lkmjr EXACTLY! My friend and I are not alone! We think the same thing!

We want to make a commentary for this film and put it on youtube because we both love this film and we love making fun of movies.

  • 2:38

Tell me, what about "giant sentient walking tree with a face" screamed "fifty-foot-tall shambling carrot with spindly arms" to Bakshi?

  • "his and Aragorn's Herbal Essence commercial running scene"

I never knew how to describe this part properly but you just gave me the right words. Thank you soooo much for this video it's sooo effing great XD XD XD *still laughs her head off*

  • You know, I hadn't noticed it until now, but doesn't Legolas look like Link's little brother that he doesn't like to talk about in this? Why is he cross-eyed through the whole thing?

    Also, *so* much Ho-Yay.

  • Aww, I think he looks like Link's cute little Down Syndrome brother.

Did you come here from TV tropes too?

  • Yep. ^_^

Both of the scenes with Aragorn running (both after Frodo and with Legolas) are my favorites. XD

  • About every animated film I loved as a kid was rodoscoped, but looking back it's kind of creepy.

  • I haven't seen this film in years, but now I kinda want to see it again. With a drinking game.

  • I. Fucking. Hate this animation!

  • haha Great compilation! My favorite part is when Foro and Sam touch each other and stare into each others eyes. What were they thinking?!

I'm not sure I saw the clip where the actor playing Aragorn is running and trips, though. Why did they choose to animate that?

  • 2:46

Well this seems ni- HOLY CRAP IT'S A F**KING LEAF!

  • They were just looking for an excuse to hug.

  • 3:00. WWE Sam knocked out Frodo.

  • 1:56--apparently, Boromir's bushy moustache consists entirely of nose hair.

  • Yeah. And he apparently turned Viking who knows when... Hm, well, Aragorn has become Native American, and that's even more strange. :-)

  • Dirtfire, the sequel was a Rankin/Bass... And it was dreadful! Sorry to the people who liked it, but that is my opinion. My, my! Butt ugly hobbits and no Gimli or Legolas.

But it was the 70/80`s... They did as well as they could.

  • Frodo getting "stabbed" with the javelin was perfectly timed, rofl.

  • this movie is so bad it's awesome xD

    I love it!

  • omg, can't stop laughing! this film was so awesome, but you really picked the best bits. The mad 17 years, Frodo's despairing headshake at Sam, Aragorn and Legolas's baywatch run, Treebeard the overgrown marching carrot...

Also, Aragorn's miniskirt makes me uncomfortable. And were Frodo and Sam really scared of the leaf?

  • ......this has scarred me for life.

  • *laughs/coughs at screen* I second that! This movie is scary beyond all reason. Amusingly horrific, though. ;P Excessive rolling of the letter "r" and all that. XD

  • This is what Strongbad's Peasant's Quest would have looked like were it a real movie.

  • teebeard looks like a plant

  • Geeze, 40 seconds into the thing, I nearly fell over laughing. WTF horse/dwarf? And 2:19 looks painful! Ha! Geeze, I don't remember this movie very well, despite watching it loads of times when I was little.

I hate how none of the mens wear pants. It's like Aragorn's allergic to them or something... o.O

  • @ Treebeard: BAHAHAHAHAHA!

    This is brilliant. <3

  • WtF! Gimli dies?

  • No, they showed the viking-Boromir dying and Frodo getting stabbed by the spear in Moria.

    Hilarious vid!

  • this is so funny!!!

  • Finally, a way to make the Bakshi version entertaining! Bravo!

  • Love the video! But one thing is bothering me... I`ve never really been very fond of this movie, but I think Bakshi could have finished the triology(hope I spelled that right). I really want to see what Faramir and Denethor looks like, how Merry and Eowyn stabs the witchking and how Aragorn meets Arwen again in this version.

  • That was Rankin-Bass not Disney.

  • No, not Disney. Rankin/Bass did Return of The king.

Anyway, this made me laugh so hard xD that movie was kind of silly. I hate how they did Samwise, as he is my favourite characters, I imagened his looks to be a little bit... cuter.

I love the video! 5/5 stars AND faved ;)

  • Bakshi was trying to fit the entire LotR into just 2 movies, and I don't care how good a writer or director you are, that just can't be done. You'd have to cut out and change so much that it would just end up awful. It can't even be properly contained in 3 movies, I say.

  • Wonderful film! Loved it for decades

  • I love this movie. and this tune... :)

  • I have fond memories of this movie as a kid, because it's all we had until Peter Jackson's version. It wasn't great, but it was fun.

  • Aragorn is a freakin' Indian...

  • The film was a joke from start to finish.

I have fond memorie of Merry inexplainable exclaiming "I'm tired of looking at my cousins all day!" and thinking wtf?

The 17 years passed UNpeacefully in the shire bit was bloody hilarious. It was so unexpected and shit it was funny.

  • "lifes a piece 'o shit, when u look @it"...lol...i luv dis stuf

  • hey pj's version kiked ass. it is # 50 on the top 100 classic movies list. where is this movie? not on the list thats where. i like this movie but come on the motion picture by my idol pj was the best movie ever with the best cast in the biz. so take your comment and bite me!

  • it brainless twirps like you that rely on these pointless poles to tell them 'what's a good in film and what's not'. cultivating any sort of oppinion of your own must require too much thalamic processing power for a cultureless cretin such as yourself. philistines! i'm surrounded by frickin philistines!

  • Oh grow up. I'm not talking to you anymore.

  • this version kicked pj's ass. pj's was too long and boring, the acting sucked along with the dialogue, and as for the homoerotic sam and frodo stint: what the f-ck was that about?!

  • It's no homo! Jeez...what's your problem? PJ's is more similar to the books. God.

  • It was a joke...I've read the books. 5 times. Not homo. At all. I'm sorry if I offended anybody.

  • Thanks for posting this - made me remember how much i love this movie.

  • Good times!

  • Hahah, oh man, I hate rotoscoping. Nice job, this is hilarious.

  • I wonder if we'll be seeing funny fan-made music videos of Motion Capture movies ten years in the future?

  • Enjoyed this so much, and I'm a fan of this movie. BitterSuite, you really know your Bakshi to put this together so well. Great fun!

  • :) I'm glad you enjoyed it

  • Axelswife1 is such a freaking crybaby, he insulted those who replied to his video and then disabled comments. Very mature there, you almost get 1/5 for your video man. As for this one here, it's pretty good

  • Aragorn was the best part.

    Samwise was the worst part.

    The Ringwraiths were creepy.

  • It wasn't the worst movie adaptation.

  • Looks like those crazy hobbits are dancing.

  • I loved this. I remember watching this a few years ago and finding it both painful and hilarious. Great job; I laughed out loud at several parts of this video.

  • Maybe if Bakshi had put a soundtrack like that into the film, it... nah, it still wouldn't have been that good. Everybody in that picture moves like oatmeal in an Earthquake! Anyway, good job.

  • The movie was mediocre to begin with, by putting the song on top of it makes it even more hiliarious. Just putting all the embarassing moments in is priceless enough

  • I haven't seen this but it looks interesting... Funny clip btw

  • "Some things in life are bad" - such as the Bakshi movie?

Well, OK, the story actually got a better treatment then pj gave it, but the Bakshi movie just looks like $h!t.

But maybe I miss the purpose in this music video, I am sure it wasn't made without a reason.

  • Just to poke gentle fun at the movie, for amuesment. Nothing more.
