I would recomend you ask her Uke if she is just "placeing her arms up there.

I am her Uke. The strike that hurts the most is the one that you don't see. True she is not thrusting her arms forward in a striking fashion but she is letting my arm run into both her elbows which is much more debilitating than a simple block. Watch my reaction after the fourth attack.
