@djmatttechno 10 bolt rear with 12 bolt 30 spline Moser axles, 30 spline auburn posi with 3.73 richmond gears, & 3" wheel studs. This makes for a strong but light weight stetup.
@8thman420 What can I say it's the wife's car although we did replace that Mustang with a new Mustang GT last year and I drive a 2010 Challenger SRT8 now.
Nice work so far! My dad and I restored an 88' Camaro with a 383, we had our trials and tribulations but I'm so glad I did it with him and how it all turned out! I wouldn't know anything about cars if it wasn't for doing it with him. :D
How did you clean the booster with the tall valve covers? I just dropped my engine in for a test fit and the low covers almost touch. I have tall elite series that I want to use.
imderrickjed@yahoo.com Email me pics of what you had to do.
@imderrickjed Had to slightly dipple a spot the size of a quarter on the driver's side valve cover to clear the brake booster. I'll look for some pics but we sold the car a few months ago. It was a fun project.
My first ride my dad got me a 76 camaro dropped a 400 small block with a holley on her.Im 34 now damn those were the days.I was 14 then btw he he.....She was only taken from me once did a burnout in front of a gas station lmao.. Nice project killer bb.
Excellent combo! This reminded me of when me and my dad built a 67Chevelle as our first father/son project. My dad swore by the mighty mouse instead of the rat so we built a stroked 350/383. After 4 years(completed in 94)of blood, sweat and tears we finished it to only have him die 1 year later on the exact date we deemed the car finished.I only wish we had documented it with video.I only have some Poloroids but ofcourse still have the car and will have it till I die. "Long live the Muscle Cars".
I'm going with a 700R4SS from Monster transmissions.. 2600stall adjustable tv cable external lock up holly carb bracket trans cooler kits and fluids.. Out the door for 2400$ bucks... The rear-I was thinking 9"moser true trac with 3.73 gear.. 2 of the 3 major items down now.. Gotta think about full, cooling and electrical now.. I want to use the stock gauges if possible..
What you don't see in the video is our 1999 383 Stroker Suburban, 1999 Blazer, 2000 SS camaro, 2001 Firebird, 2008 LS4 V8 Grand Prix GXP & and dare I say it my 1st car, a 1965 Mustang Conv. We have more GMs than Ford (:
I enjoyed the video.. Did I catch a corner of a third gen next to it.. I'm build a 502 for my 92 RS.. Expecting 550-600hp at the flywheel.. What differ and gearing did you go with? I was thinking of electric water pump to keep draw down of the motor due to the low vacuum..? 850cfm holley carb w/mech secondary..? How did you go about fuel delivery and pressure? I'm gonna keep the 700R4 w/OD and I refused to go without a/c.. Any info will be appreciated..
@Cleelopez. IMHO ditch the 700R4, thats gonna be your weakest link at the strip. Once you hook, like at a track, its gonna blow to pieces. For the street though, you'll be fine. Gearing all depends on how often you drive street vs. track. I'd do nothing less than a 12 bolt or ford 9" for the rear. Sounds like a sick build. Cant wait to see video/pics.
The 454 is balanced(even the 1/2 weight is balanced to .0g) & blue printed, forged crank, pistons & H beam rods, main girdle, SS roller rocker, 11:1 compression, heads are ported & polished with 2.19/1.88 SS valves, .600 lift Comp cam, 850 Demon carb, Hooker headers.
It's not too radical but a good balance between street/strip.
This is my son's car. His daily driver is a 2000 SS Camaro 6 speed that runs 13.12 in the 1/4 so his progress on his 74 Camaro has been a "little" slow.
@heslekrants No wonder them Arab pricks have so much cash when your burning up all that oil. Sucks your past time finances their hookers and gold chains.
dude come on lol i have a 84 with a 383 stroker and it has a crazy amount of power i cant even imagine a 454 lol my truck has a 454 and it will smoke all four, you gotta take that to the quarter mile
Haven't taken her to the track yet. Plan on taking her to the track this spring.
With street tires it will probable run 12s but 11s would be nice. Without a rollcage you don't want a real sticky tire on these cars because the unibody will twist on you.
hey what differential are you using? im planning on boring and stroking my 454 to be somewhere around 500. any suggestions?

The vacuum canister was $80 from Summit Racing.

You deffinately didn't put alot of money under the hood! lol
Good job so far! I have a '50 chevy sport coupe, and a '74 Camaro z28 LT I've been working on for about 2 years.
Can hardly wait till they're finished!
Have you finished your car?
1093T 3 years ago
Not finished yet. Put a new 850 Demon carb on but the floats were stuck open dumping alot of fuel into the motor and trashing the bearings.
Currently the motor is back out, the forged steel crank & rods are fine. Waiting on warmer weather to put her back together.
