  • In Soviet Russia, the greatest piano in the world considers Horowitz to be the greatest pianist in the world.

  • That women in the end is so sweet

  • the women in the last part almost made me cry...

  • Wonderful recordings thank you but would be also interesting to insert dates.

  • That poor lady had been there all night to be certain of obtaining a ticket. It would be desperately cold, Bless her! I am glad she finally achieved her childhood ambition.

  • spike -

Thats not a top hat. Its called a fedora. Don't know where to buy one. Search on that and you should eventually find it.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

  • and by any chance do you kno the name of the coat (black) that he is wearing,. thanks

  • Just looks like a basic top coat to me. Nothing special about it.

  • thank you so much, today i vistied Sims, to buy a fedora, unforuntatly they did not have what i was looking for. they either had really short ones or really long ones like jewish people were.

  • the hat he is wearing is called a fedora (i think). Im pretty sure its a russian originated hat as well

  • @spike2133876 : It may be a Fedora !

  • why is this video not availabke????

  • Both Amazon & Barnes & Noble have it.

  • O my God!@ u hear that Scriabin etude that he played??

    very very very beautiful

  • omg he is a stranger to his own family, that must have been very hard!

  • Ah, I just played this piano in San Francisco at

Sherman Clay and I met Franz Mohr there. What a chance of a lifetime, it was so surreal! I will post some footage of it soon.

  • I identified this piece that you hear in the background. It is Scriabin Etude Op. 2, No. 1

    Beautiful and breathtaking piece!

  • Can anybody tell me what this piece of music is? It is definitely something Russian, but I am not sure about it being Tchaikovsky...

  • Scriabin etude Opus 2 no.1

  • @lemongrass33 Do you happen to know if this particular recording of the piece is from a studio/live recording? I absolutely love this particular time that he played, and it seems it is not from the concert in Moscow.

  • wonderful

  • this made me cry...the first piece that played after they moved the piano to concert hall...it plays the russian piece i think its Tchaykovisky...its soooo beautiful!!!!

  • MORE please!!!

  • Oh PLEEAAASE post more! These videos are excellent!

  • Loool, youre right!

  • Greatest pianist ever.Dramatic video

  • Thank you very much for the 'Horowitz in Moscow' videos. Best regards,

  • I'm glad you like them...if i have time...i'll post some more.

  • V.Horowitz and A.Rubinstein two oposite character

and two great artist in they own way.And behind -all those suffering people

  • you're right...their personalities were very different...Rubinstein mentioned in his autobigraphy that although they were friends on the surface, but the two men disliked each other...nevertheless, we can't say who's better because both were extraodinary pianists.

  • I am sorry but I must not agree with you. I consider V. horowitz better than A.Rubinstein,

  • That's a biased statement. I too PREFER Horowitz, but that is not to say he is better than Rubinstein. One tends to base who is better off of the music they play. I much prefer the music that Horowitz plays as opposed to Rubinstein's strong suits.

  • Yes, Rubinstein's suits were very strong and well-made, but Horowitz's were nice too, hand-made, I believe by an Italian tailor on the Upper East Side. Horowitz always insisted on travelling with his own clothes, whereas Rubinstein was content with whatever clothes were on hand in the city where he was performing.

  • history in the making.
