raid means redundant array of inexpensive drives. raid 5 i beleive is when you have multiple harddrives and whenever you save something to a harddrive it saves to all the others as well.

yes but he was trying to make the point that "raid 0" means that you cannot lose data, well in raid 0 you definitely can lose data, if any of the drives go down then the data is lost, that's why they call it "scary raid"

only in raid 5 and the like do you get redundancy, meaning that if one of the drives goes down, you can replace it with another fresh drive and the system will rebuild the data

its a fact that all drives will die at some point no matter how good they are

The failure rate of any drive setup singular or multiple is relative to the drive failure rate the type of setup and the # of the drives in the particular setup. Raptors are more liable to fail than most 7200 rpm drives (due to their increased rotation rate), but this really is negligible here.

What Wts is referring to is data redundancy or the replication of data across multiple drives. Raid-0 does not copy information across drives, so in short is not reliable or "redundant" as claimed.

RAID_0 will not provide any redunancy. RAID_5 will provide redundancy but less performance than RAID_0.

RAID 0 doesn't require 3 hard drives (only 2 or 4) and B RAID 0 can make u lose data if one hard drive fails (i think they mean RAID 5 here)
