  • Son of a bithchin drugs. God I hate them. They have taken more people from us than war. Kids please watch and learn...DRUGS get you no where in this life but in the grave. Learn from this and learn from Len. God rest your soul Len.

  • dang! that's unreal... it's like he's on drugs or stimulants!?!?

  • Damn, what a play!! LOL at Warren Martin under the basketball during the reverse dunk lmao

  • Not only did he cary the whole program but teams totally built their defenses around stopping him and still could rarely do it. He was an amazing player-one of the best ever.

  • And just something else I noticed, I think he really resembles a more skilled Shawn Kemp, in Kemp's prime. So he would have been a force to reckon with in the pre- 'everyone is athletic' NBA years.

  • who knows what bias would of been once he got to the nba.. he could of been a great player or a flop.. r.i.p

  • no way he would have been a flop. with all that talent, and he proved in this very game that he could show up when it mattered. i'd say we just dont know how good he could have been, sky was the limit.

  • there have been a lot of good college players who ended up being flops for different reason in every sport.. like i said know one knows what would of happen

  • there have been some good college players who ended up being flops for whatever reason, yes. but how many GREAT college players have been? how many of the BEST EVER have been? the odds were very much in his favor, barring some sort of injury, that he would make it big in the pros.

  • u missing my point know one knows how good he would of been in the pros..

  • i see your point, that all we can do is speculate b/c no one knows the future. but i'm saying, there is no way he would have flopped, UNLESS he got hurt. even in todays game where everyone is athletic, he would have been one of the MOST athletic guys in the league. can you imagine him playing with the guys in the 80's? he would have been a man amongst boys. or an athletic black man against slow white guys .. you can pick your analogy

  • there is always a possibilty that a player can flop

  • it seems obvious that Bias was a better player at this point in his career, when compared to MJ, but its all speculation as to if Bias would have had a career like MJ's. I do think he would have won some championships with Bird though.

  • Can't stress enough how Bias carried the whole basketball program at Maryland back then, and how refined his skill set was back them. When he was a soph, his whole game was outside shooting - junior year he learned to bang around inside...Senior year he was the total package. With the 3 point line - would have average 30 a game - easy.

    Gigantic tragedy when he died.

  • I wish I was alive to see him play, but what I hear about his game is that he was an unbelievable basketball player. R.I.P Lenny. Wish I would've saw you in the NBA..

  • That should have been an And 1. Warren Martin clearly undercut Bias on the dunk and it wasn't called.

  • packfanstk, wasn't Len Bias close friends with Chris Wasburn?? I heard someone mentioned that Len Bias was suspended for a game against North Carolina State during the 1985-1986 season because he was hanging out with C.Washburn before the game.

I can see from your profile that your an N.C.State fan, sorry I had to bring up Chris Washburn. I know N.C.State fans do not think highly of C.Washburn.

  • Bias and Washburn were friends I believe, but I can't say anything beyond that as I do not personally know any more. I was at State while Wash was there, but didn't hang out with him. We think highly of Wash as a player, but his character was suspect as we all know. I really love how all the Tar Hole fans rag on him and State as if Dean wasn't recruiting him as well. They now lie and say he wasn't. Yeah, we took him, but 350 other schools, including UNC would have too if they could have got him.

  • If nothing happened to him and Reggie Lewis the celtics would have maybe been the team of the 90's or at least shared the name with Jordans Bulls. If neither of them die do the bulls win 6 titles?

  • If nothing Happened to Bias the Celtics would not have picked Reggie Lewis considering they played similar positions. Their draft spot most likely would have been further back. Its hard wondering "what if" because soooooo many teams, draft positions and such would have been altered. The celtics could have had a longer run with the title. Piston championships would have waited longer, Bulls dominance may not have occured. Bias death rocked the NBA in a way that people can't even imagine.

  • @bday6262 Reggie Lewis and Bias would never have played on the same team. If Bias played they wouldn't have drafted him considering they played similar positions. Bias death really cheated the Celtics a few years in terms of dominance. He was suppose to have allowed McHale and Bird more resting time on the bench so they would have played longer. It was suppose to have been a smoother transition. It would have affect Pistons run and most certainly the Bulls run, Cleveland etc.

  • he jammed it backwards

  • he made the steal and jammed it backwards, unbelievable

  • 1989 Bird had surgery. 1990 they had the second best record in the regular season in the East behind Philly. They very well could have had Detroit ('90 Champs)scard after years of dominance. Then the Jordan years would come with the Celtics much older. But a Bias team with a surrounding cast in the '90s would have to be as good as the Knicks of that time.

  • Excellent observations! I agree with you on your points. Even though the Celts came down with some injuries in 86-87, I think they could have been the best team of all time if they had Bias. He could have spelled McHale and Bird some minutes. They would have been the team to beat in the early 90's seeing they were very competitive still between 90-92.

  • The Celtics might have ran for some more years. '87-'88 they were hit with injuries and still did well. They played in the Eastern Finals versus Detroit both years. Winning in '87 and losing to them in '88. I honestly think they'd beat the Lakers both years b/c they played them to six in '87 and Isiah's injury kept Detroit from winning in '88.

  • Bias' tragic death was a tremendous loss for basketball.

I saw him play in person. He was simply unbelievable. I truly think that if he had lived, MJ might very well not be considered the greatest player ever.

The Celtics would have steamrolled the Lakers and everyone in their path for 6-7 years after that, imo.

  • MJ was better with the ball..Len with the rock...lol

  • What's your point..Bias had a better jumper and I would say he attacked the rim just a lil bit harder than Jordan

  • I was a fan of both..it was a just a joke...

  • Your obviously not a real basketball fan b/c if you were you would respect talent without judging. I am Bias however, and think he was awesome! You not so much!!!

  • r.i.p. lenny

    what year was this?

  • sick!

  • that game was the first time a visiting team won in the dean dome. go terps, r.i.p. lenny.

  • LENNY....rest in peace.

  • I remember that game . . . tough to watch again as a Heels fan. Boy though Len Bias . . . what an amazing athlete. It's a shame we never were able to see what else he had in store at the next level. He's truly one of the greats.
