omg thank you so much i have been looking for a clip of their rockpalast performances for so long now. this is the time when ron blair had eaten a whole chunk of hash
elfmangirl, you're right--just watched the TP documentary and this gig is legendary for Ron Blair's amazing performance despite gobbling his hash from Amsterdam in the customs line going into Germany.
I love this early Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers stuff. Just straight rock and roll. I love Tom's entire catalog of work, honestly, and obviously he evolved as an artist and his music got more sophisticated over the years, but these early performances are just so addictive and raw and badass.
As far as I know, "Dog on the Run" was written by Tom Petty himself and is only available on a rare 1976 promo release called Official Live 'Leg. Undoubtedly out-of-print, this one'll take some work to find. Good luck to everyone...and me!
this one NEVER got on any of the original albums. It is very very cool. woulds been soo colle to see TPHB in 1977! Check out Dwight Twillety while yer at it same label same sound
such a style...........

I think this might have been right after Ron Blair had to eat all the hash at the airport after leaving Amsterdam.

Amazing how Stan Lynch circa '77 looked like Mick Fleetwood circa '69:

This song was recorded in '79, and released on the Anthology CD. Too bad Campbell's so low in the mix here. His parts make it all that much better.
