@TaylorAndersonL, i do know that because I am a huge fan of Kraftwerk as well, I just mean she should have known that it originally is from Kraftwerk...
I love Kraftwerk and especially this song but I much prefer the live version of this track from 1981. Back then everything about them seemed way ahead of its time. They looked as if they were operating a nuclear power station on steroids, with all those keys, switches and knobs, whereas here they just look like four guys checking their email or paying their electricity bills online. Is there any actual playing going on? They look like they could just as easily have emailed the show to everyone.
@roddyb123 yeah, funny they changed it. That's a curious habit, like an appliance, they change their vocoder every 20 years, so it never goes out of style.
Kraftwerk, the "holy grail" of techno and synth pop!

@brunatzo Coldplay wrote to Kraftwerk to ask for permission to use this sample, two weeks later they got a envelope with a note saying "yes"

I believe when the song starts, there is a woman that says "whoa coldplay" or something. Why didn't the audience eject her to the back?!
Jens1503 2 months ago 3
@Jens1503 maybe she just commented the sample used by coldplay
bkfmatze 2 months ago
@Jens1503 Coldplay Sent Kraftwerk a letter asking to use that line. So i think it's fair that she said that.

@Jens1503 It sounded more like "oh my god, f**k yeah"

the vocoder line on 'computer love' sounds great. all of these posts for the velodrome 09 keep reminding me of what a special gig it was. Thanks!
roddyb123 2 years ago 7
yeah the vocoder line is awesome - you can really hear the "woooow" in the audience when the words "Computer Love" resound.
