@ahmohamu - I second that emotion!...I was born in Hargeisa in 1953 and am Caucasian. I believe I was the only white child born there at that time. My father was trying to help with the Hoof & Mouth Disease Epidemic there, at the time...he was an Agricultural Veterinarian. He died in 2009.

My hope is to return some day...I do love the Somali, of which, there are many here in Vancouver Canada.

Its good to give these lovely children a broader cultural experience, in particular since they look more black and currently living in a predominantly white society (Finland), the society they are living in is not colour blind and will always be seen as outsiders. I think its good that they have been tought Somali and being children they will pick up the language pretty quickly. Nice video, I was there in Ambassador hotel early last year, and enjoyed the place. Somaliland is a fantastic Country.

i totally understand the situation of these kids being mixed somali myslf. i hate 2 see mixed somali & full somali kids not speak their language. i blame the parents. somalians who marry foreigners must ensure their kids maintain that link thru language, culture & religion. i will not be able to integrate with somalis if i didnt speak the language. Hi kuusoow! We speak Finnish language on the video. We live in Finland.´Our children understand fully somali, but they usually speak Finnish. They have their somali lessons every week at school, also dad speaks only somali with them. But it's difficult to maintain and develop all those skills, as said already before in other messages. There's only about 6 Million Finnish speakers in the whole world, so no wonder everybody have to ask about it:)

As a parent of these kids I share your concern about learning and shearing the language and culture of our ancestors - not to mention the religion when living in a seemingly secular world. We are a family with two languages and two cultures. In the future, if we can afford it inshallah, we hope to have a chance to frequently stay in Somaliland for longer periods of time, so that our kids can adopt a deeper concept of being a somali.

faysalburco is just having the typical somali reaction (though slightly more vulgar)...Somalis are xenophobic...we strongly disapprove of inter-racial marriages...so much so that in Somaliland you can't run for politics if your spouse is not Somali...it's written right into your constitution.
