man this song has been stuck in my head for so long but anytime i had a chance to look it up i couldnt for the life of me remember the lyrics, and just spent a good 25mins searching for it as i made a note of it earlier
@smashingsplendid -- I'll give it a try this fall. If I put it up, you better watch it. I'll let you knw if I upload it. Never though about it but I'll give it a try.
David Bowie will never die. In 500 years people will remember Bowie, and the Beatles, the Stones, Marc Bolan and T. Rex, The Velvet Underground, they will live on forever.
Bowie's ability, starting from the days as Ziggy, to evolve, taking chances with different sounds as he did during the "Tin," days, gives one pause and take the time to think, yeah, that's why I've been listning to him, going to his concerts, buying everything he releases and always being satisfied.
As has already been described so well below, the purity of each venture will make his music timeless, hopefully allowing younger generations to continue to pick up on his music.
I think people need to stop generalizing about modern music based on what they hear on the radio. There are great bands out there today that make great music, but unfortunately, for the most part they don't get airplay, or if they do it's on a small station few people listen to. However, with the internet, it's pretty easy to find good current music.
@awesomeguy234564 Yep, and generally avoid ClearChannel radio channels in general.
My overall point is just that too many people throw modern music out the window without trying at all (beyond listening to terrible radio) to find any good modern music, which does exist.
@sthenige1 when I first heard stuff like rap (I've literally searched all the rap and post-1999 isn't very good) and the stuff I mentioned, I said, "All modern music sucks!" Then I started looking for modern rock, which has suprisingly avoided almost all the electronics spread by the other modern music genres. Some modern techno is good, not as much of pop though. I prefer 1960s-1980s music still.
I find it refreshing that so many people from all walks of life and ages appreciate Bowie. Its really amazing! I too hate alot of stuff that gets radio play, yet I am glad that none can measure up to great musicians like Bowie. It gives the rest of us who know good music, something we can alone love and appreciate.
I heard this song at the beginning of "Couples Retreat" and I knew I knew it but I couldn't remember who it was or what it was called and I couldn't find it on the credits etc and it took me FOREVER to figure it out & then when I did I was like "DUH"! I felt stupid being I was an 80's child LOL
I fucking love this song and many others by Bowie, Im 21 yeras of age & most modern music is terible. Songs come and go its hard to think of any songs from recent times that will be remebered in 10 years time! unlike this 30+ years later still being discovered and loved by people! dont think people will think the same of ndubs or justin bieber
This is one of my favorites by DAVID BOWIE - THE MAN. He and his band came on a stage too film a concert style video before an audience to an excellent song MODERN LOVE. It was he and his band just being themselves and it came out excellent. Entertaining and Harmless. Also rumor has it David Bowie is very fan friendly to fans. Finally, I think to Record Label had him change his name, It was DAVID JONES.
@onehundredstocks Yeah, he did change his name, originally it was Davy Jones, but then he found out that a member of an american band called The Monkees had a member called david jones, so he changed his name to David Bowie and that was his name for the rest of his career.
