@Bmotoring Because Im hear to HELP PEOPLE--NOT TO PUT UP WITH BULLSHIT FROM HATERS AND People that are JELOUS, because they can't, don't want to, or think they are better then others. We are all the same, and if Im "SHOWING" you HOW TO DO IT,, I don't need the fuckin bullshit of putting up with LOSERS!
Let us see you guys installing any of these iterations of a vinyl top: (a) carriage roof, (b) padded top, (c) cabriolet paired to a half-stainless-panel top .... and any of the foregoing, with an inset factory moon-roof: now that would be something. That said, it looks to me that your design ideas make that originally dumpy cheap car look hip -- decent concept; nice color combo.
@thefam212 You'll have to find a local interior/upholstery shop supply store, go to an upholstery shop and ask them where a supplier is to buy what you want, and Im sure they will give you some names or maybe even where they get it. Pete
The vinyl tops can be a b-otch to do, especially when its your first one. I did the one on my Pontiac LeMans myself the first time around and it turned out OK, and lasted 15 years but it never really looked great and I was never totally satisfied with it. This second time around I opted to get it re-done by a professional, and it was well worth the small amount of extra money spent. The videos are interesting to see how to the pros do it. You really do need to steam it.
The body work is done on my 1972 Monte Carlo and ready for the vinyl top. I want to attempt to put it on myself.... and I'm SCARED!!! I guess I'll have to have a couple cold beers first and just DO IT.
My freind Pete you have more patients than me id kick that owner in the teeth the grumpy old bastard doesnt deserve that car He should be smiling and thanking you while signing checks..
That was scary as hell Pete. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Those guys really knew what they were doing especially having My Friend Pete AND Phil the most anal guy in the world watching their every move. I LOVE the white top with that blue. It looks great! Something about a vinyl top on that vintage of muscle car sets them apart. Great vid and good job fellas!!!
How about a video series about final assembly , aligning 1/4`s to doors to fenders to hood etc . How do you get the perfect gaps when you have nothing to go by except the body at the 1/4`s .
Last one i did was a `75 ford F100 everything loked great till i put the grill on and didnt fit right and so on ... i got it right at the end but there HAS TO BE a right way to do it , besides hit and miss .
I'm confused! Who made the decision to not bring the vinyl down the A-pillars. When Aviar first laid out the vinyl for measuring, he had cut the vinyl to cover the A-pillars. I thought the owner said Concourse restoration, not lets make it look like a convertible top instead of a hardtop. Its a nice tweek and does look better if there is some way to divide the vinyl from the A-Pillar at the top but all the cars like this that I remember up here in Canada separated the vinyl at the bottom.
@EdOfTheNorth The vinyl top is universal for the lbody styles, when "they" make the top pattern it has the piller material on it.. On this car the top only went where you see it in the video, so the access was cut off. This is the factory look. Pete
Thats true about Mexico. Someone was telling me about their friend ages ago. Anyway, They got a car from California and the seats were redone in Mexico.. After a week or so the car STANK. They took apart the seats and cabbage was inside the seats. Foam? whats that!
Thanx for the video because I'm putting some vinyl on my '68 Galaxie. Luckily, I have a steamer! Great video!

I'm sure that set saved a lot of disasters!!
Who would of known to let the glue dry that much before you put it on?
I would of done a foot at a time rolling out the wrinkles as I went.
Another fine example from your friend pete.
