Any doctor who says never stick a q tip up your ear to clean it out is an ignorant old goat of a doctor who would rather you have your ear infected than to risk you puncturing your ear drum(which could happen if your nerve endings in your ear go numb and you can't feel the q tip and stick it through your ear..as if
@Yeppr It's not the puncturing of eardrum that they are concerned about. It's the pushing of the natural wax debris deeper into the ear canal that worries them. I have yet to see someone actually puncture their own eardrum. I have seen many people with deeply impacted earwax with the lateral side of the wax looking suspiciously concaved. Much like what would happen if they are packing the wax deeper with the wax.
@hbt18spsw Yes, but the oddity present is that the bony, non-motive part of the canal tissue on the posterior wall extends lateral to the 2nd bend almost all the way out to the first bend.
