  • OR ( Remind yourself, this is an idea) Do the Uwe Boll Technique, By that I mean take a book or movie and make a complete remake of it. BAM! A film.

  • i liek ur hayr

  • HIhi it's the movement of the hands as "tons and tons of fun". It's so obvious that it's travis

  • lolz ahahahahahhahahahaahha x)

  • "Write from life experience"

*Dear Screen Writer, I am breaking up with you for Brett Ratner. <3Trisha*

    *movie ideas "Cry then Kill"*

    I couldn't stop laughing!! XD

  • what app did you use for this?

  • thanks man i really needed that

  • Interesting take on your writing process...

  • I use celtx for my scripts, but I think I might look into what you use for future reference. :) Thanks for this video! It came at just the right time for me, because my Senior project is to write a series of comedic sketches that my friends and I will direct and edit into a Fake TV pilot. We're having cold reads next week. Wish me luck! :D

  • "sell it to a studio so they can hire someone else and compleatly change everything." That happens soo may times.

  • The part 2 section may have been just what I was missing. Thank you sir.

    ~Katy

  • Travis, I freaking WORSHIP YOU! I know I'm not the only one that feels this way but you inspire me. I have been subscribed to you ever since you're first construction paper video. I am trying to make popular videos and when I don't know what to do I look at your videos, and pray that one day I can make great videos like yours. Thank you for being such an inspiration Travis!

  • This feels like the way to write period and there was like idk "eureka" moments in this.

  • Wait... Chad?!

  • You're a hero, giving me the hope that my projects will one day see the light!

  • Brilliant!

  • My process is more along the lines of: procrastinate for eight months, write fifty pages in one night, casting, schedule a read through, write the second half while the cast reads the first half, be surprised at how little editing the second half needs.

  • Bitchin desktop decal dude! I'm gonna write the crap out of a script and do somethin with it.

  • The idea for a story is there, now I need to find time to write it...

Btw: You should make more tutorials on how to be awesome like you!

  • dog dies on page 1...go for it!

  • I was wondering what equipment you use for filming and editing? I know you use a Mac as I've seen in earlier videos. I'm just really interested :P

  • My friends and I wrote a script in high school, it ended up being very soap-opera-esque with characters falling off cliffs and surviving and the like. It's still not finished, but most of the others wrote their characters out of it. It's gathering dust in my attic and I don't know what to do with it :(

  • May I suggest giving your next video the ol' David Lynch jazz hands? :P

  • @napalmocean Ha! Love me some DL jazz hands.

  • This is the process that all writers go though, then they die in the end after writing.

  • very helpful. i wil start writing..

  • I have the Idea part down....

I got most the Outline figured out....

Its the format is what I need a Tutorial on....

  • haha Travis, this is brillant xD

  • @EmmaInCandyland Glad you like it

  • This sounds like me when I write. Except, I never get to the final draft :l

  • @BlackroseDN FINISH tHAT SCRIPT!

  • @TheReceptionist I've actually been working on a novel, but the same rules apply... Just need to actually work on it first... Thanks for the encouragement though.

  • This is fun!

  • @TheNormanvsNorman Good good!

  • this video inspired me brb ...gunna go write

  • @METALLOVEx Excellent!

  • quite interesting!!

  • @GDTV222 Glad you thought so.

  • this video made me feel human again

  • @keenly Weird...and awesome.

  • lol i use Celtx

  • @FamilyFirstJ Not familiar with that one.

  • The name "The Bumps" reminds me of that kids book Owl At Home where Owl is scared of the bumps under the blanket without realizing that they're just his feet.

  • @mariesoullier Never read it...sounds fun though!

  • Thanks for sharing! I'm glad your getting the feedback you deserve on your channel. Indy Mogul fans are out for blood on that channel. LOL

  • @Knoptop Man they sure are. 80% of their comments are on fire!

  • : )

  • @ECTBWHO :)

  • im a new subscriber to you and i have been enjoying your videos very much so seeing as i love comdey and have alway been a mega horror movie fan well not alway just films pretty much anything scary is cool to me and i just want you to know i plan on staying subbed to you because i believe your gonna go far and from what ive seen so far im right so keep up the amazing work and i cant wait for the bumps to come out amazing as everything else

  • @fearevil1 Thatnks so much! Glad you think so highly of my work. Comedy and horror are the two best genres!

  • What kind of beer was that?

  • @THEORYZ1 Dead Guy Ale

  • this is great because it really relates to any creative process. as a painter, I find this hilliarious.

  • @poptarts85 That's true. Except do you get criticism on paintings and then repaint?

  • @TheReceptionist I sure do. It's all part of the creative process. practically everything in this video either directly relates, or can be translated into any medium. And as far as painting goes, how else would I improve without criticism and repetition.

  • Sadly only people that know how to and have written scripts know how funny and true this actually is.

  • @KAIproCOM There is a tad of inside humor for sure.

  • Is that Ripley at 2:43? ;)

  • @chrisstevens2 It sure is

  • @TheReceptionist We need to have Ripley in more videos! She's so cute. Maybe she can attack some unsuspecting victim or something. :)

  • You talk and have strikingly similar hands to Chad.

  • @BobkerYa LIES!!! :)

  • Just subscribed. Currently circulating through part 3 repetitively, only to find that this tutorial is partially flawed, as my mini-fridge is within reach of my computer and usually contains alcohol...

  • @BadPropGunProduction I KNOW! I hate myself daily for this flaw. I must get a bigger office.

  • I like celtx. Easy to use and best of all its free.

  • @lastdollarfilms Rock on!

  • Hello, not Chad! Weird how you have his hands... you must have stole them!

  • @KesleyWORKS137 He was sleeping and I puppeteered them.

  • Nice tutorial, Travis! :D

    - Jason

  • @crimsong19 Thanks Jason

  • Have you heard of scripped? it's very handy!

  • @Cheesey759 I have not.

  • Likely best ADP video yet.

  • @sexdwarf7 Coolness

  • You are freaking awesome!!!! Please make more tutorials even after you dont have too :D

  • @JakesTechBox We shall see...

  • Hi Travis, great video both funny and informative. I like the get beer part after 1 1/2 pages part. I do something similar when writing applications. Just not with a beer but if was not at work I would.

  • @GamerMarino84 Any reward will do!

  • ain't that the wildest thing that this video shows up in my subscription box on the day that I was told there would be a film festival at my school? perfect timing!

  • @ROXIO7 Rock on! Now you have to tools to get started!

  • You guys just win a new subscriber

  • @ThePhilmMaker Super glad to have you!

  • LOL funny and insightful. Nice job.

  • @fellonthedoorproject Many thanks

  • Odd, your hands look like Chad's...Try using a coloring book...

  • @Blargaldalien Who in the world is this Chad character?

  • @TheReceptionist Long ago, There was an individual named Chad. Scene2 Chad sitting in a police station, head in hands. Officer comes in, takes head from Chad, and places it in an evidence bag. "No Chad, she has to stay here."

Scene3 Chad, now sits at a table, with a box of Crayola crayons, and a Mai tai. He heaves a heavy sigh, then, begins speaking into a microphone, attached to a web enabled smart phone...

  • he does the best hand motions? haa

  • @Mr3ggy My hands are more talented then my face.

  • @TheReceptionist i guess thats a good thing? haha

  • Best

    tutorial

    ever.

  • @BreakingJon I doubt that highly.

  • At school I've been chosen to write the script for a short film made by the senior class. My friends and I want to make it the best short produced for this yearly project. I know we will make it awesome, but I have a feeling I will watch this video when I should be writing my script.

    Thank you Travis. In advance.

  • @ReDiary Just remember that the rewrite is the key!

  • Where was the eternity juice in your fridge?

  • @Sx963 I'm all out!

  • mmm... almond milk... Oh wait, why am I watching YouTube... I'm supposed to be writing...

  • The monster in the closet... you mean Justin Bieber ?

  • Story of my life....I need to get through step one first...inspiration. Luckily you're good at that Mr. Betz!

  • haha pretty much describes how i feel trying to write anything.

  • LOVE!

  • 2:50 I love your computer sticker :D

  • That was inspirational! Now, let me think this over for the rest of my life :p

  • Don't forget to make backup files and save them on disks, floppys and usb drives. Trust me, you don't want to get 100 pages in only to have your computer say, "That's stupid. Delete." then you'll be yelling every swear word imaginable at your computer.

  • The narrorater is so enthusiastic

  • Awesome! Maybe I'll write a script or two of my own!

  • @jgyllenhaalic80A How about a from a distant high five?

  • i can totally relate to the whole goal thing

  • @ConnorHoffman It can get me drunk faster then it should.

  • This was actually quite helpful. You're awesome :D

  • @MsGrunz Good good.

  • "Watch bad movies"

"I can do better than this!"

    "Watch good movies"

"I can do better than this!"

  • @WalrusMuffins10797 Ah the inside of the ego.

  • This is really helpful. Thank you Travis! :)

  • @Toyo4Suka My pleasure.

  • if The Dead Inside is anything to go off of, this tv pilot is going to be amazing. :)

  • @mikeandersonwa I am thinking it will be special.

  • noticed you have some almond milk. I love that stuff! My favorite kind is Blue Diamond 60 cal Almbond Breeze!

  • @BenjakTV That's my ladies milk. She digs it.

  • @TheReceptionist It's good man. I like it better than regular milk. and it's healthier!

  • Chad? You finally made it to the witness protection program. Good for you!

Did you get to pick the name Travis yourself? Glad to see that the leap from coloring book to script writing isn't that big. >;^)

  • @PuppyZwolle Chad must have sucked on some helium!

  • U have like 40k subs and only get like 5000 views on each video lol?

  • @WTFhaxors Yup...story of my life.

  • or you can try my script writing recipe ...stare at blank pages, make a goal for yourself, like if i write 3 pages i can have a beer, stare at blank pages for another 3 minutes, walk to kitchen and get beer, be satisfied with your mediocre life. :)

  • @metro236 I relate to that one also.

  • the voice-over is HILARIOUS :D

  • @spyteandmalice Glad you like it!

  • BOOM STICK!!!!

  • @TheMysticalNinja Damn straight!

  • TALKING HANDS! BRILLIANT! I seen talking heads before but this is a first! - Okay Im shutting up and listening & watching so I can learn sumpin....

*** Listening...... Learning ..., left to take a leak .... Im back... listening.. Learning ***

OKAY! NOW I'M READY! One day I will have that epic movie that mothers will refuse to let their kids, husbands and drunks watch. YES!
