I use celtx for my scripts, but I think I might look into what you use for future reference. :) Thanks for this video! It came at just the right time for me, because my Senior project is to write a series of comedic sketches that my friends and I will direct and edit into a Fake TV pilot. We're having cold reads next week. Wish me luck! :D
Travis, I freaking WORSHIP YOU! I know I'm not the only one that feels this way but you inspire me. I have been subscribed to you ever since you're first construction paper video. I am trying to make popular videos and when I don't know what to do I look at your videos, and pray that one day I can make great videos like yours. Thank you for being such an inspiration Travis!
My process is more along the lines of: procrastinate for eight months, write fifty pages in one night, casting, schedule a read through, write the second half while the cast reads the first half, be surprised at how little editing the second half needs.
My friends and I wrote a script in high school, it ended up being very soap-opera-esque with characters falling off cliffs and surviving and the like. It's still not finished, but most of the others wrote their characters out of it. It's gathering dust in my attic and I don't know what to do with it :(
@TheReceptionist I've actually been working on a novel, but the same rules apply... Just need to actually work on it first... Thanks for the encouragement though.
The name "The Bumps" reminds me of that kids book Owl At Home where Owl is scared of the bumps under the blanket without realizing that they're just his feet.
im a new subscriber to you and i have been enjoying your videos very much so seeing as i love comdey and have alway been a mega horror movie fan well not alway just films pretty much anything scary is cool to me and i just want you to know i plan on staying subbed to you because i believe your gonna go far and from what ive seen so far im right so keep up the amazing work and i cant wait for the bumps to come out amazing as everything else
@TheReceptionist I sure do. It's all part of the creative process. practically everything in this video either directly relates, or can be translated into any medium. And as far as painting goes, how else would I improve without criticism and repetition.
Just subscribed. Currently circulating through part 3 repetitively, only to find that this tutorial is partially flawed, as my mini-fridge is within reach of my computer and usually contains alcohol...
Hi Travis, great video both funny and informative. I like the get beer part after 1 1/2 pages part. I do something similar when writing applications. Just not with a beer but if was not at work I would.
ain't that the wildest thing that this video shows up in my subscription box on the day that I was told there would be a film festival at my school? perfect timing!
@TheReceptionist Long ago, There was an individual named Chad. Scene2 Chad sitting in a police station, head in hands. Officer comes in, takes head from Chad, and places it in an evidence bag. "No Chad, she has to stay here."
Scene3 Chad, now sits at a table, with a box of Crayola crayons, and a Mai tai. He heaves a heavy sigh, then, begins speaking into a microphone, attached to a web enabled smart phone...
At school I've been chosen to write the script for a short film made by the senior class. My friends and I want to make it the best short produced for this yearly project. I know we will make it awesome, but I have a feeling I will watch this video when I should be writing my script.
Don't forget to make backup files and save them on disks, floppys and usb drives. Trust me, you don't want to get 100 pages in only to have your computer say, "That's stupid. Delete." then you'll be yelling every swear word imaginable at your computer.
or you can try my script writing recipe ...stare at blank pages, make a goal for yourself, like if i write 3 pages i can have a beer, stare at blank pages for another 3 minutes, walk to kitchen and get beer, be satisfied with your mediocre life. :)
OR ( Remind yourself, this is an idea) Do the Uwe Boll Technique, By that I mean take a book or movie and make a complete remake of it. BAM! A film.
