It could go so many ways--Verbal Kint was, after all, a confidence man, a man adept at lies. He could have made the whole thing up. But I prefer to think of him as Keyser. There's a subtle clue I haven't seen mentioned here: after the lineup, he stands there smoking, looking at Keaton. Didn't he hold his cigarette in that eastern European way, underfingered? He certainly does later, when Kujan recounts the line-up. He does it, too, with Kobayashi at the end. A small clue I latched onto.

Why doesn't he have an accent? Ok that is a nitpick since of course they hired an American actor to play the part but do they really expect us to believe that a criminal, even a mastermind, had the time, resources, and inclination to master the English sound system in his spear time? As a linguist I just don't buy it. If you learn English after the age of 9 you will always have an accent, there is no way around it. You can hide it, in some cases well but it will never go away.

One of the best movies albeit contrived. Soze could have been any one. There was no way to know for sure until the end. Even in the end, all you know is that Verbal doesn't have CP and some Hungarian thinks he is Soze. Who's to say for sure? Writer/Director says Soze is Verbal. The entire movie was just a story that Verbal made up in the office. I think only facts are: arrests, line up, Edie in CA, Verbal arrested, Hungarian says Verbal is Soze. What else do you know for sure?

I've never really been able to explain the movie, either. Obviously Spacey's character wasn't who he appeared to be, but who was he, really? Perhaps Kobayashi was Keyser Soze, or there never really was a Keyser Soze, or there never really was a Verbal. And who was it who was pulling the strings to grant Verbal immunity? The simplest explanation is that Verbal was an assassin who was hired to kill the Suspects plus the informant on the ship, and to put the blame on Keaton.

Good call. I never looked at Kobayashi being Soze b4. But I'd still have to say it was Verbal bassed on the fax received at the end. What throws me off is that verbal shot the guy in the head with his right hand but Soze shoots with his left hand. Then Soze lights his cigerette with his right hand yet Verbal in the end lights his with his left hand. Man, what a great film, a real mind game. But also, Spacey walked with such a cool swager in the end, he had to be the man.

it is Keyser Soze as I read it in the little magazine you get in MGM DVD's. The mag is called "the big cat" and in the mag one of the lines it uses to "big up" the movie is as follows: " the legend of Keyser Soze will have you glued to your seat!"

Just thought I'd clear it up. Although before I read "the big cat" I thought it was Kaiser because in the film Verbal/soze says that some ppl think hes half german or turkish when explainin about Keyser and as we all know german for king= Kaiser
