grogeous paintings by an amazing neoclassical artist. He put equal care into his figures and the surrounding environments. I could look at these all day.

Indeed. He was amazing. I love how much cultural element he put into some. Also, the perspective angles make you want to pay attention not just what is in front or center of us, but the background too. Truly...the best.
What I meant was, I love Tissot's compositions. His paintings have that Baroque moment where its like he took a snapshot of that moment catching the subjects off guard at times.
Such an elegant homage to Mr. Tissot! Many of the images were new to me but I never fail to be enchanted by the way he painted clothing and the meticulous care he took with the ships' rigging, etc. The music was perfect too. If you ever run out of ideas, how about the Barbizon School, or John E. Millais, or Maxfield Parrish? Yes, I'm greedy. You're compositions are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Hi, there, brendafohio, might the Russian who painted light and atmosphere with amazing skill be Ivan Aivazovsky? Have you seen his masterpiece THE BILL0W (1889). I always feel like I should be wearing a life preserver when viewing it. Must be quite an experience to see it in person. I'll check back to see your future pieces. Thanks again for creating these wonderful videos--so enjoyable to see..and learn new facts in the process.
Oh my! You are an art lover and one smart cookie! Yes it is Ivan! Such a smile I have reading that you know that it was he I spoke of! The Billow, as with all this man's works of atmosphere, seems to drip with humidity and moisture. Thanks again for watching and commenting! Take care.
Hi, Brendafohio! Golly, thanks for the compliment but guessing it was Ivan A was kinda a "shot in the dark". I found his BILLOW pic by accident about 6 mos. ago and was swept away by his mastery of water and light. I'm an "art lover" by serendipity mostly--thru books and notecards. I adore narrative painting, the Pre-raphaelites, Victorian art. Ps. check out the wonderful forest scenes by IVAN SHISHKIN. You can practically smell the woodland scents and hear the murmur of the streams.
Wow! Shiskin IS fabulous. You are right, I don't think I have ever seen anyone paint the forest so skillfully. Almost photographic. Amazingly beautiful. Thank you very much for introducing me to him! Be well.
Ah, Tissot. One of Frances (and later Englands finest artist's). I always admired his work and was especially impressed with his painting of ships. He was raised in a seaport city in France and the rigging in his paintings was impecible. Also, I understand his lady friend died, a young woman yet he incorporated her into his paintings for years. Well done. we need to see more of these great academic artists.
A beautifully presented montage from this great Master of art. I particularly enjoy his Japonaise work. I was lucky enough to be at the Sydney Art Gallery this weekend and spend time with the Widower, magnificent. The Brahms accompaniment was a perfect choice. Bravo to a very tasteful and elegant contributor.
beautiful...I can't help but think time had to move much slower then...it would almost have to- all those clothes must have weighed a ton...you'd have to move slowly, very slowly
One thing is for sure, it would have been difficult to have a quickie! The farthingale, the hoop skirt, the bloomers John hurry hurry the bloomers! :o
And to pose for hours on end in something so voluminous. Whew!
Thanks for this video! it's a real gift. it really does take you to another time. I love those dresses, I think I was born in the wrong era. I'd love to see these paintings up close and personal!
I too imagined wearing the dresses, but as it was 99 degrees when I made it, all I could think of was how oppressive they must have been in the heat of a non-air conditioned era! Thanks for watchin' Sherri-o-baby!!
love scientifically

If Tissot was alive today, I'd let him have his way with my body.

Thank YOU for stopping by and watching!
I did Parrish :D take a look!
I know about being greedy for beauty, most of my time spent on-line is spent looking at images, saving images and manipulating images.
Will consider your ideas.
Look for a russian who painted light and atmosphere with amazing skill, coming up next....working on it now.
Peace erzbet. :)
