I never bothered with any of the rest of the series after Eragon. It was just so very, very stupid. I might be missing out and not know who some characters are, but part of me loves the idea of skipping the middle two and just jumping straight into the last one.

@TsubataLately It wouldn't be that bad. Books 2 and 3 are mostly filler. If you read the summary at the beginning of book 4 and maybe read a Wikipedia page on the characters you'd be good.
