  • @midnightmarth Haxxers have the fastest internet by going into someones else wi-fi...or just buying Verizon FIOS :D!!!!

  • @midnightmarth Oh...and since he already downloaded backtrack its faster once you downloaded it and want to re-download it... it would normally take 3 seconds for a average software to re-install (in kb's) and about 10-15 in mb...but it all depends in how large your files are.

  • maybe its a silly question but can i only work with backtrack by using vmware workstation?

  • @MrSpraycanproduction You can use it many ways. You can install it on a Hard Drive, USB Stick or a CD. Its just depending whether you have the right amount of space to sustain it.

  • I tried to install VM Workstation with BT5. My laptop is running on win7 64 bit. Downloaded BT5 GNOME 64 and 32 bit. Using other kernel below.

    Other Linux 2.4x kernel 64-bit

    Other Linux 2.6x kernel 64-bit

    Other Linux 2.4x kernel

    Other Linux 64-bit

Now the problem is I can't boot BT5. Please check the error below.

This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU.

Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU

Can someone help me on how to figure this out?

  • I have this problem too...

  • @royax4life i got the same problem but on windows vista 64-bit

  • @royax4life same happens to me on the VirtualBox. using WIN 7 64. anyone got solution???

  • Respond to this video... or should i go for the 32 bit one??? DL speen not too fast here and more importantly...will it even work??...takes much time, the DL

    .

  • @royax4life you downloaded the wrong version. you need to download the 32 bit version of backtrack

  • @royax4life Same here, but i read about it somewhere and it said something about ur pc is 64 or 32 bit. something relate to that.

  • @royax4life im having the same issue...ever manage to get it fixed?

  • i got that problem too ,my cpu is intel core i3@royax4life

  • @royax4life download the 32bit that should work.

the reson the 64bit dont work though you have a 64bit processor is something in the bios :P

im no expert, but specialy laptops dont have the functions to run a 64bit system virtuelly even if they have a 64 bit processor. download the 32bit as i said and it works fine ;) (had the same issue btw) good luck

  • @royax4life did u get the answer if u did pls reply me :)

  • @royax4life enable VT-X AMD-V in BIOS if AMD

  • Comment removed

  • @royax4life You need to go to the BIOS setup and activate de VIRTUALIZATION, because is disabled by default. When you do that, your problem will be solved :)

  • it installed and worked the first time but i turned my pc off and on aigen and now it wont load my VM (vm ware will start and the "rappelz disc" will open but i will have a blackscrean saying isolinux 3.36 and some more text anyone knows what to do?

  • im still waiting for someone to make a video on how to install a dlink30 wireless usb adapter in backtrack through virtual.

  • wtf it only takes u 5-9 mins to download 1.9GB......all i have to say O_O

  • @GoldDiamondHacker it takes me 9 hours.... =[

  • @number1froggie666

You running your internet through a GPRS connection or something?

  • ok I was wondering something, I have a 64bit processor running 32bit windows XP. I downloaded 64bit backtrack and tried to run it this, it gives me an error pretty much saying I need to be on a 64bit OS, so I boot up my 64bit ubuntu and try to run it on there, it should be working now but it doesn't, whats going on here?

  • Comment removed

  • But what if you have a 64-bit system and you download the vmware version of BT5, rather than the iso version?

This is my situation and I tried the above, but when I try to open/run/create a new virtual machine from it, not only will it not support 64-bit, but I can't even find the iso in any of the files to actually run.

    Huzzah?

  • How Can I install VMware tools?????

  • What is the direrrence between Ghenome and KDE?

  • @CanecaProductions Gnome is a lighter and easier to use UI, whereas KDE is more expandable but also uses a bit more resources.

  • @CanecaProductions KDE is better... ha ha ha!

  • @CanecaProductions gnome has got that unbuntu layout kde has got a windows like interface

  • Hi thanks for the video , but somehow in system preferences it only comes 800x600.

i am using a macbook pro 2011 and my monitor supports 1400x900.

    please help me!

  • at the backtrack 5 download page , considering I have win7 64bit I must choose 64 or 32 bit?

    thanks

  • @ivanvendetti 32bit will work fine

  • If you are going to run BT5 on a virtual machine, why wouldn't you just download the VM image files instead? It's far simpler to setup and has VM Tools already installed.

  • Thanks for the reply!

  • Can't you do the same thing with VMware player?

  • @Channel711 Yes and no... You can't create the vmware files to run the OS using VMWare Player, so you have to use VMWare Workstation to create the neccessary files, but if you already had them somehow you could use VMWare player.
