I agree to a certain degree. The Holocaust by itself didn't warrant a Jewish state in Palestine. Balfour Declaration by itself wouldn't have created Israel either. But when considering what was going on in the 40's in Palestine, the dislocation of Jews after the Holocaust had to have played a huge role if UN voted 33-13 in favor of creating Israel. 1967 borders are a different story, but the Iranian pres. won't even recognize the 1948 borders.

isn't zionism the reason behind israel? orthodox jews live in exile, herzl was the founder of zionism when he wrote der judenstaat, without zionism no israel so logically the goverment in israel is a zionistic regime even if the arab minority is entitled to vote in the israeli democracy. Iran doesn't recognize Israel as a state because they don't want to recognize the 1948 borders. Israel is Zionist, but my point is that Iran and the majority of other Muslim countries refer to Israel as merely a Zionist entity and not a country. Just like you wouldn't call United States as merely America
