Words (cont.) After a storm there's always the sun, After night there's always morn. And you the bonfire glowing, With you to warm and to burn: To see in the blackest of darkness, To leap over Midsummer's dawn. Just one more step closer And I can feel that you are there. If only we could always stand here Between a moment and eternity. (Extra line after last chorus): No-one will sing this song.
Words in full:° When the computer's switched off and the telephone quiet Let me come to see you tonight I want to learn the first steps And begin the very first song Long is the journey of a star To where do you wish to lead me? Maybe a small path along the Gauja [river] Or shall we circle the world? These are the words of my nation The song's from my people as well And I know that nobody in my place Will sing this song. Tell me North Wind, From where this stubborness within? (tbc)
I have tried to translate this song both literal and (allegoric) for everyone in the world to understand what this song is about. (maby it`s not perfect) (it`s about Latvia, Latvians, patriotic feelings about our people, about our country, nature and traditions, how we could stay here together In Mežaparks at our Song festivals) and this is most beautiful song form Brainstorm (Prāta Vētra)
thanks to all who loves latvia.. i will be happy with big smile wait you all in Latvia... :)) and help you somehow because i want that everybody think that here are best people in the whole world :))
I recall seeing a documentary about latvian song festivals on our estonian national tv and this was the closing song. I like it very much, even though I can't understand anything.

It is a fact that Brainstorm is not very famous in e.g. Norway. And I have only one answer to it; lack of powerful backing and promotion. Coz this is a band with creativity, variety, and the rare capability to find the good tunes that we have not seen since The Fab Four, Beatles.
I agree completely with you. So you are not the only "ignorant" according to the words of the writer FF55 below. I write here once more: If Brainstorm and Renars Kaupers sang their songs more in English and German (and why not also in French or Spanish? Finally, who understands Latvian and Russian in the West?) they could become much more famous. They are a good band with a good music and would certainly deserve that.
neskatoties uz to, ka atklāšanas koncerts bija tiešām nekāds....šī dziesma uz mirkli uzbūra to ainu un atmosfēru..kādēļ ir tādi Dziesmu Svētki!!!!....paldies autoram par šo dziesmu!!!...
Oh, I really love this song. We sing it in choir but we weren't in Song Celebration. My friend told me, that there was really beautiful. And now I can see it.
Well, I think, that now Brainstorm is a bit popular in Europe too, because many songs of them have been in MTV.
They can't be popular in whole world in one second, it has to be a slow process.
I ask myself why this singer, who gives his performances with such a good voice and such a good heart, is practically unknown here. He is certainly a great star in Latvia - but who knows him outside? Maybe also in Estonia and Lithuania - but in other countries? Thanks to God we have "Youtube" today, which is a fantastic way to begin some new contacts and to become much more famous. The world needs much more such singers like him!!
BrainStorm are pretty famous in Poland and Russia too... but yeah got your point - it's a pitty that they are not world famous - they deffinately deservet it!
They may be famous in Poland and Russia, but which really counts in the music world is the West, in Europe above all Germany. Do you want to know how many stars began their international career in this country which has a central function in the distribution for the market? The Beatles for example, but also Julio Iglesias. When somebody is famous in the West, it's much easier to become famous also in the East than the contrary. Did BrainStorm already sing their songs in German or English?
just because YOU dont know about them, doesnt mean they arent popular.
and Brainstorm has toured Germany several times. they've been playing since 89, almost 20 years now.
plus, there are plenty of Russian bands that are popular around the world, starting in the Soviet Union and Russia, skipping that western step. so dont start something you dont know about. plus julio iglesias? are u serious? lol. Brainstorm sing in Latvian....duh. sometimes in Russian
Normally I don't discuss with persons who don't want to reveal who they really are and keep hidden behind false names. Fact is that I haven't seen anything written in newspapers and anything heard about this band till today here in Switzerland and in Germany. They may be really popular also here, but only in insider scenes. The broad population here really doesn't know them - finally, I live here and know the situation here better than you. So who is ignorant? It seems that it's YOU.
listen buddy, i dunno what ur definition of ignorant is, but it certainly is YOU and not me. i dont say ignorant remarks like Germany is the center of the music business.?
they dont have any false names, nor are they hidden. if YOU haven seen anything written, it doesnt mean they arent written about elsewhere. if u searched for them even in german, im sure u would find more info. like i said, if YOU dont know them, doesnt mean ALL dont know. so go read and learn ignorant buddy....
Listen well, you full time idiot: Who writes and plays such bullshit of "music" like you and your band should be better silent. You understand absolutely NOTHING about what I really want to say.
wow, now to profanities. very cool. i write and play good music. i know music. YOU dont. you said germany is the center of all music. you were wrong. deal with it.
my band will not be silent. you are just jealous cause we have talent and your sitting in ur native germany not knowing what to do. sad sad sad. go get a life loser.
I absolutely agree with you JuhaStump. He is an awesome singer, great vocal range and tone, and sings with real emotion. A naturally charismatic frontman too. He's so talented and I wish he was better known here in Britain.

When the PC is turned off and the phone ain`t ring
Let me, personally come to you tonight
I want to learn how to take my -first steps (wisdoms)
And to start the first song
So long is the way of the star (fate)
Which would lead me -back to you (to reach my goals)
Either it`d be a little path along the Gauja (river)
Or might it`d be a run into the wide world

JuhaStump 3 years ago
is Russian not a major language? is everything east of Germany not worthy of mention?
"who understands Russian in the west?"
ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm anybody with a brain or anyone who is actually intelligent.

Reezija 3 years ago
They may be famous in Poland and Russia, but which really counts in the music world is the West, in Europe above all Germany. Do you want to know how many stars began their international career in this country which has a central function in the distribution for the market? The Beatles for example, but also Julio Iglesias. When somebody is famous in the West, it's much easier to become famous also in the East than the contrary. Did BrainStorm already sing their songs in German or English?
JuhaStump 3 years ago
Russia, Poland, and Latvia are all Europe.
just because YOU dont know about them, doesnt mean they arent popular.
and Brainstorm has toured Germany several times. they've been playing since 89, almost 20 years now.
plus, there are plenty of Russian bands that are popular around the world, starting in the Soviet Union and Russia, skipping that western step. so dont start something you dont know about. plus julio iglesias? are u serious?

JuhaStump 3 years ago
listen buddy, i dunno what ur definition of ignorant is, but it certainly is YOU and not me. i dont say ignorant remarks like Germany is the center of the music business.?
they dont have any false names, nor are they hidden. if YOU haven seen anything written, it doesnt mean they arent written about elsewhere. if u searched for them even in german, im sure u would find more info. like i said, if YOU dont know them, doesnt mean ALL dont know. so go read and learn ignorant buddy....

Listen well, you full time idiot: Who writes and plays such bullshit of "music" like you and your band should be better silent. You understand absolutely NOTHING about what I really want to say.
JuhaStump 3 years ago
wow, now to profanities. very cool. i write and play good music. i know music. YOU dont. you said germany is the center of all music. you were wrong. deal with it.
my band will not be silent. you are just jealous cause we have talent and your sitting in ur native germany not knowing what to do. sad sad sad. go get a life loser.
FranzFerdinand55 3 years ago
Maybe In US nobody know them But in Europe they are quite popular...
BrenannTemperance 3 years ago 8
I absolutely agree with you JuhaStump. He is an awesome singer, great vocal range and tone, and sings with real emotion. A naturally charismatic frontman too. He's so talented and I wish he was better known here in Britain.
