  • Wow. The last 'face......' is right on that heartstring...

  • Roberta Flack's version is better with a more haunting quality.

  • His voice is so enchanting.

  • I dated my best friend for almost a year, than I had to move and we coukdnt date, but the first time I heard this song, I saw his face, and now even thoih we arent dating, this is our song and we will always love each other. No matter how many miles apart we are

  • i would so have this as my first dance song at my wedding... it brings tears to my eyes like everytime... its his voice man XD

  • his voice gives me chills

  • Johnny Cash gave this song soo much more feeling. Makes me tear up when i hear the first few chords<3

  • Johnny made every song his very own!

  • Fuck Leona.

  • Every time I hear this song tears well up, but only this version makes me full on cry.

  • :') no mames que pinche hermoso

  • La primera vez mi amor... en aquella primera vez... que continuará siendo por siempre la primera.... nuestra primera vez...

  • This sung by Roberta Flack wrapped my heart in lace, now the man in black, he tears. & leaves nothing but the strings...

  • I don't remember the first time I saw his face. But I remember the first time I saw his face when I knew I was in love with him.

  • I'm gonna cry. He was such a magnificent man. There are no words to describe. There was so much to him. I love Johnny Cash. How could anyone not?

  • Thank-you for sharing.

  • Such depth of feeling. Proves that music can be simple and convey depth. Thank you, God, for the gift of Johnny Cash

  • i cried listening to this as it is the same feelings i have when i first met my fiancee

  • Midnightmagicable

Vivian Liberto was Johnny Cash's first wife. They had four daughters: Rosanne, Kathy, Cindy and Tara. Cash's drug and alcohol abuse, constant touring, and affairs with other women, and his close relationship with future wife June Carter, led Liberto to file for divorce in 1966.

  • midnightmagicable,

I really liked Johnny Cash. His song "I walk the Line" is my very favorite song. His voice isn't at it's best with this particular song. His notes give out, he can't hold them long enough for a song like this. Sorry Johnny Cash.

  • @midnightmagicable jesus . you really dont get it do you ?

  • damn dust in my eye...T_T

  • I wish I had a relationship like that. They stood by eachother for many years, I guess thats old school lessons for us all!

  • I THOUGHT JUNE WAS A HOME RECKER? WHO WAS HIS 1ST WIFE?

  • @zsazsa7000 Watch the film "Walk the Line" ! :)

  • ..I LIKE THE WAY JOHNY CASH AND MATT POZDOL DID WITH THIS SONG...SALUT !!!!!

  • i love johnny cash, him and his wife are so sweet, cheesy but i wanna hav a relationship like theres when im older

  • I swear this song describes a little bit how i feel about my first sight with my love. Phillip Nobis.

  • Johnny, where art thou oh brother?

  • does anyone know if this was his very last recording that was made from his hospitdal bed,,,?

  • anyone else watching this imagining being him and just browsing some old photos?

"so yeah thats me and elvis, me and bob dylan..."

  • I love this song. It reminds me of my girl Jordan, and brings tears to my eyes. I miss her so much even though I just spent the entire day with her.

  • Que honor para elvis aparecer fotografiado al lado de gran Johnny...

  • He does not have a perfect voice. He is just perfectly comfortable with his instrument. But most of all, he has a gift which is very rare, and this is his ability to sing with his manhood. And that is what makes his work so compelling.

  • When I first played this on my radio program I could barely back announce it. Just so powerful.

  • @adandap The first time I heard it and several times after, it struck me as almost a religious hymn. Mr. Cash truly captures his own feelings in this one. It is a beautiful rendition of the song. Hopefully, we are all lucky enough to feel this way at least once in our lives.

  • Johnny Cash=legend

  • This is such a beautiful song. A lot of emotion goes into every Cash song I hear.

People should not aspire to be like Justin Bieber or 50 Cent or Rhianna they should aspire to be someone like Johnny Cash. He is a truly great star and an amazing singer. Do not try to idolise a teen chipmunk or a steroid ridden rapper people like Johnny Cash are to be idolised. Someone who actually contributed to the world. R.I.P Johnny, a TRUE legend </3

  • @MCRomance11 Well said!!

  • I sure miss this guy, a lot! I am so enthralled with his voice...and the fact that he loved June so very much.

  • Miss you Johnny... I need some more songs like this in my life.... I think we all do

  • Man when his voice got older it just made his songs even that more special. That raspiness in his voice just makes the lyrics so genuine.

  • Johnny Cash was such a rebellious rock n roll star... his later stuff turned him into a old legend telling us his final feelings before he was taken to heaven. Such a touching voice and character

  • When you think that Johnny and June lived all their life together and that June died in May 2003 and then was followed by Johnny in September, this song brings huge tears to your eyes. Johnny couldn't bare living without his June so he decided to join her up there. It's just an amazing thought that they're now somewhere out there happy together. When I think of me and my beautiful girl, I feel like I'm about to cry. I love her so much and I too couldn't live without her.

  • lets give maccoll his real name james henry miller

  • fucking awesome!!

  • Great pics to compliment this track.

  • great!!!!

  • From one of the best albums you'll ever own!

  • This song rips my heart and soul from my body.....I once had a relationship with the most beautiful and wonderful woman and this song said it all and then I screwed it up, this song reminds me what a fool I was

  • @riley1369 same here man..

  • @riley1369 I know EXACTLY how that feels. Yes, this song seems harder to listen to if you've been in that situation.

  • Shivering Voice, So Depth ,His Real Love is/was so lucky.. Because in his voice there is a soul...

  • Sem dúvida a melhor interpretação dessa maravilhosa canção.

  • ♥ ♥ ♥

  • A songwriter, not man, beyond his time.

  • Not many singers could put so much emotion in their voice like Johnny Cash. I find this one damned hard to listen to and keep dry eyes.

  • Epic ... This is the best love song EVER

  • Beautfiful..............

  • Epic... just epic...

  • The Best Man *-*

  • This is such an amazing song. I dream one day that I find the lost to sing this to.

  • @natepo7 *love

  • *o*

  • Save yourself the trouble and listen to this because this is THE best version ever. I checked 7 other versions.

Baritone voice of his.. makes me shiver.

  • He is Johnny Cash, what else can one say. The best..

  • So beautiful. I envy them. Love like that is scarcely seen anymore. I wish with all my heart, that the man I marry will love me the way Johnny loved June.

  • *¬*

  • Deeply intense, romantic ...

    beautiful ...

  • The ordering of 'ever' and 'I' annoys me. Good song though.

  • @TheCite is this the first time ever you've heard "the first time ever?"

  • @unfunnymomo1993 The correct (or, common) way to phrase it is "The first time I ever...". You can use "[For] the first time ever", although it's used in a different context.

  • Pure....

  • Troubled man...but a musical genius...a true Legend. R.I.P

  • thank god that artists like him existed......music nowadays can't even compare with that...

  • I usually listen to metal and hardcore, but Johnny Cash's work is just a thing of beauty

  • @Zami9000 amen, brother.

  • How can you not like this. great song song by the one and only Johnny Cash only wish i'd have seen you live

  • 1:10 anyone know of a poster?

  • Johnny Cash; one of the magnificant voices of the last century, wonderful, wonderdul rendition...equal to Roberta Flax's version.

  • True love....pure and sweet..........♥

  • Lovely are the ageless songs and people.

  • SOME OF THESE COMMENTS MAKE ME SO GLAD NOT TO BE A YANKEE!!!

  • He's so cute with his wife. They were an awesome couple

  • Roberta Flack's version is the ultimate. I had never heard Johnny Cash sing this song before but he sings it with the same emotion, care and depth that Roberta does. Thank you Johnny, and thank you for posting this wonderful tune.

  • @damianrwhite dude you're a dumbass.. Your is possessive like "your comment." You're is like saying "you are." So you just told me that I should have said "I love you are comment.." Please don't try and correct me if you're retarded.

  • Brilliant video, my friend.

    10 stars

  • This made me cry.

  • roofing176 your Son is Smarter Than you : )

  • I honestly don't care what age anyone is.

  • Johnny Cash is one hell of a singer, and can really belt out a tune. Unfortunatly, this is not one of his better efforts. Someohow, it just does not work. Not saying JC can't sing, because he is trully one of the greats, but this song just is not right for him.

  • Im 18 and i love classics, Love Johnny cash and im related to elvis my dads mother her father and elvis's mother was brother and sister so i like him too,i also like the The Ink Spots and of course the lovely Billie Holiday xp you cant go wrong with oldies like them, thay dident just make music, To me thay made history, Some of the best music ever.

  • Excellent! Thanks for posting!!

  • θεος!

  • @skatesdforlife; What on earth is wrong with being 42 and having a YouTube Account?? And wth post meaningless comments like this while all in here is about MUSIC!!! If it wasn't for the above 40'ies, there would not even such a thing as YOU TUBE... Btw.how old do you think Johnny Cash was when he recorded this?? And where were you when he was around.. Not to mention, Beatles, LZ., Pink Floyd et al! Grow up!

  • I have never heard this before. What an awesome performance by Johnny Cash.

It totally touched my heart. Thank you for sharing it.

  • I feel a litlle bit sad when i listen to this song

  • perfect song

  • Give me Robert Flack's Version......this is like William Shatner singing...

  • @golfer348 You are obviously a first class bellend. Firstly I have never heard of anyone called Robert Flack recording this song... Roberta Flack did however did sing this beautifully. Secondly, comparing JR to William Shatner??? Cock.

  • I´m 14 years old and i love this, who says teens only listen to crap?

  • @shadowsstrategy me too i'm a teen and I love this song and generally this kind of music

  • i love to hear johnny sang,my aunt introduced me to his music when i was a kid, thanks aunt marie!

  • The writer of this song, Ewan McColl was Kirsty McColl's dad. Kirsty sang 'fairytale of new york' with The Pogues and 'New England' among other great songs. She died in an accident a few years back.

  • Superior, Legendary, a true American Country and Western music hero!!! RIP JC

  • 31 people are heartless sons' of bitches

  • diesen song höre ich, wenn ich aufwache, höre ich wenn ich schlafe, habe ich den ganzen tag über in mir und ich träume davon, wenn ich träume.... ein lebenselexier, dass alles sein muss

  • @roofing176 thats a bold statement, all music is real

music is the way you feel and stories of life i could get deeper but i will leave it at that.

rap=people who have struggled and they brag about their accomplishments but either way unless you have a record deal, dont talk just listen to the music

  • Best and most heartfelt, heartwarming, shuddering version. unlike ANY xfactor verion.

  • @Kaldhore I agree. Your use of the word shuddering was particularly apt. The choice of songs which Johnny Cash chose to perform at the end of his life is very intriguing to me. (This song and a NIN song.) Makes me want to check out all of his later recordings.

  • me gustan mucho canciones viejas de los 60, 70.

  • this guy had the most facinating voice sometimes off key out of tune but sheer class gets better evrytime you hear him god bless you johhny...........

  • wspaniały numer, zawsze chętnie do niego wracam

  • Ive been CASHED

  • There's so much pain, feeling and raw emotions in this, that it's almost painful to listen to. Grand and dramatic rendition, rugged and weather-worn, and still filled with sweetness. Boy, what can I say, it's ole JC...

  • @uglymoon78 .. this comment is totally agreed...<3

  • What a beautifully moving voice..

  • nice

  • im 42 and my teenage son likes this kinda music

i think he reliezes real music

  • @roofing176 am 14 and i love this music my granddad played the frist song i ever heard and it was a boy named sue he said that they should have called me it :)

  • @roofing176 your 42 and have a youtube account?

  • @skatesdforlife And I'm older than that and have a YouTube account - and I know proper word usage, punctuation and all those things that you evidently don't. Now go have your diaper changed!

  • im 42 and my teenage son likes this kinda music

  • @barbarianwarlord no u are not :)

  • Im 15 and I like this and I hate justin bieber. No, jk.

  • @Nachoidess This is a Johnny Cash video. why does everyone insist on talking about him on every video there is. you watch a johnny cash video, or an aerosmith video or even a marilyn manson video, someone has something to say about him. just watch the video and comment about who you are watching and not other people!

  • @chris8889ify I was joking man

  • @Nachoidess so u do like him

  • @Nachoidess Hate is a STRONG word son.Use it Sparingly. You will learn that with time.LOVE Your taste in music though. THEEHASHMON

  • @THEEHASHMON Wise words !

  • @Nachoidess Your wiser than your years.

  • Where did you get the pic at 3:42?

I wish i could get a poster of that.

  • For me this is the most beautiful song ever written, and I think the covers by Cash, Roberta Flack, Leona Lewis and The Stereophonics are superb in different ways. The Elvis one is shite though!

  • That was deep.

  • I refuse to listen to another version of this song!!!!

  • Although I'm not exactly a Cash fan, I love this song, and his version is worth listening to. In my ignorance, I thought this song was written by Roberta Flack. It was the first time ever I heard the song.

  • i dont mean to disrespect ppl but y isnt his music in fallout?

  • Roberta Flack's version is good however a true music fan knows Johnny's version is as raw and beautiful as it gets. You can feel the passion in his voice. A bad boy, the man in black singing something so heartfelt to his one and only weakness: June. Nothing is more real than that. Yes, drugs were a weakness for him but he loved June even more.

  • if there's a God above I can guarantee when Johnny Cash died he replaced Jesus at Gods right hand...

  • @FUCTOFFME Couldn' you think of something else to say?

  • Nothing can beat the original

  • A very nice version.....made me have tears....RIP JOHNNY.

  • this song just brings pain! but i stil love it as much as i hate it! I LOVE it...

  • @MsAngelsgame couldn't have said it better myself :)

  • people just love this song in my country
