Great piece of nostalgia and some familiar ports there, particularly in Part 1. Did a ten month 'double-header' on a Clan boat that year, these days with containers the trip would probably last less than half that time!! Still had a taste of quick turn arounds on joining Esso later that year, not my cup of tea so came ashore in 1972. Sad that so little remains of our MN!!
This is a fantastic video. Great to see it the way it was back in the day. I sail with a lot of guys who are ex-bank line and you hear lots of old stories of how it was before they got replaced by Russian Officers. Still - even with the Russians, the runs sounded amazing. But well, no more Bank Line now.
sad, but they have gone, thanks for the comments, i deleted part 1 due copyright on the music track, i will re edit with different music when i have the time
Huge surprise to see myself!! I enjoyed it immensely and remember it like it was yesterday! Im the good looking one in the blue shirt that appears at 4.46!!
What would Safety and Healthsay of climbing the mast like that these days as at 0.21!! Harness, helmut, safety gear etc. Those where the days before all the bullshit came in. Great memeories. Thanks
Thoroughly enjoyed parts 1&2 I bet you are so glad you made those films. I spent 2 years as a Nav App with BP in late 60's and not a photo to show for it, mores the pity. I guess you made a career of it and with your destinations I might have stayed the course, the Gulf was never that attractive. Thanks for your memories and I hope the bags of asbestos never came back to haunt you. Smooth Seas
