Of course there are good female bands, but they are extremely few. They all sound sound alike, with soft guitar riffs, cheesy keyboard arrangements, unoriginal lyrics and awful singers - Epica anyone? :P The rest of those bands pretty much sound the same.

Of course, Nightwish and old Within Temptation are decent, but they both changed a lot. Nightwish post-Wishmaster is completly forgettable and Within Temptation were only decent in their 1st record.

There's also Theatre of Tragedy and The Gathering - which I'm not too found, but they're ok. Tristania and After Forever have amazing singers though. Aesma Daeva is definaty the best operatic lead heavy metal band out there.

About old Nightwish, they pretty much sound the same now as they did with their pathetic "Once" album, only with a difference singer and less diva atitude. Tarja's solo work, for what I head, is hilarious at best though hmmm
