I can't do any better, but that doesn't take away my right to an opinion. My opinion is that this guy is incredibly talented, and anyone who doesn't see it is a weird person. I'm not saying anyone has to like it, but to flat out deny that talent is involved is downright silly. "Proper guitar playing?" That's ridiculous, that's like saying someone painted a picture improperly, or someone wrote a poem improperly. There are no standards in any self-expressive art forms. Relax... you're wrong.
i dislike people who play like this, play the guitar like it's a bongo drum. this guy wants to be a bongo drummer, and the six strings get in the way. he's awfully clever with the right hand - but it's the left hand that makes a guitarist. his left hand ain't doing shit, it's water color.
this is so boring i would scream if i was in a room with this happening. this is for chicks who like ben harper and buckley, and for frat boys who love jack johnson, or whatever he's called.
@wraithking13 i'm retarded. and you are so fucking gay, the SF gay pride parade starts at your front door. if you like this, if this is musical genius for you, there isn't a goddamned thing i can do to help you. in fact, there is no point in wasting my time even replying to you, so you've just cost me another 45 seconds.
enjoy the remainder of your insipid, uninspired life. just don't use too much of the precious oxygen needed by those of us with cerebral activity.
@wraithking13 ...and further, just for fun now, it's a pity i have to reply in writing, because if i was actually in the same room as you, i'd simply beat the fuck out of you and, what i assume, is an awfully stupid fucking facial expression.
i have no idea what his right hand is doing, you say? sure i do: he's jacking you off.
@wraithking13 actually, the way i write proves my intelligence. peppering all that with threats and profanity is what proves how much of a fun person i am. and how seriously i take proper guitar playing. not this worse-than-emo crap. the entire point has been that this guy is an absolute joke, and not a guitarist. ok, just try just listening to the music, without watching... are we serious? is that actually music you'd put on in your home? it's worse than elevetor renditions of yanni
@wraithking13 proper guitar playing, in my opinion, is with a pick, fingers, or hybrid picking. the way chet atkins plays, david gilmour, or even zakk wylde. call me close minded if you must. and, even though i don't upload vids, i'm no slouch on the guitar.
sorry about the animosity earlier. i went a bit overboard. i'm passionate about things, things i like, and things i dislike - like this video. cheers, brother.
@wraithking13 see? there you go being a retard again. this is simply not progress in an art form. that's not my opinion, just cold fact. and i think alot of people would be very offended to hear you compare atkins, gilmour, zakk wylde and the like to ''cave drawings'' and rock smashing. the only rock that needs to be smashed is your odd shaped cranium. now piss off, before you say anything else so unbelievably idiotic. fucking tool. this guy sucks ass. period. live with it.
While most of the guitarists of candyrat may use tapping passages to augment compositions that rely solely on fingerstyle techniques, T cophony uses tapping to brilliantly voice entire songs. Stefano Barone has similar all-tapped songs, but they draw upon many other artists as sources of inspiration, such as Billy Mclaughlin and Michael Hedges. T cophony, on the hand, creates soundscapes with tapping unlike anything else i've ever heard before.
Agreed, he's really good, but capo420420's statement goes way too far.
I find T-Caphony's stuff to be always of the same sound too... Not really exploring different genres, just the same kind of thing again and again. That's why I don't rate him as high as some other guitarists, but he's certainly really great.
he is my favorite as well. I wouldn't go as far to say hes better than all of the artists on candyrat combined though. I mean he definetly has something unique... but I think guitarists such as antoine dufour also have a whole lot to offer exploring different spectrums in the acoustic world. It is kind of hard to say that t-cophony isn't incredible though.
Thumbs up :D

Thank you for rationalizing music, mister. 2+2=4, yes? Indeed.

the left hand makes the guitarist?
you, sir, are retarded
you have no idea what he's doing with his right hand, let alone the difficulty of what he's doing with his right hand

what is proper guitar playing then?
and how can you possibly call someone better than you a joke or not a guitarist?
the music is great. when you consistently write better music you can talk

so basically you don't like progression in an art form?
cool i guess we should go back to cave drawings and smashing rocks

He plays that guitar like its an Extended limb.. Like its a part of him, and every tap, or stroke is just per instinct..

T-Cophony is a genius ..
My favorite acoustic guitarist by far.
He's greater than all the candyrat artists combined.
His ability to combine strumming passages and tapping are unsurpassed ..
His music remains a primary inspiration of mine and probably will for a long time to come.
thanks for posting this ..
