So is this Master Siow's own unique way of Hok San drumming with all the long rolls in the hei see? Because I have never heard these complex long rolling beats? Very nice.
Hi Master Siow u are the best drum I have never seen. If u come to Oakland U.S.A come and look me up . and will are Ben shaolin kung fu and I know u are the best what u doing as a teacher and a Master. Master Peter Chan
I've been living in Penang, Malaysia for 26 years and i have never heard of lion dance drum beat this unique! i mean... this is really something different to me... all these times we hear was those same ol boring drum beats which even i can play with my hands on a table. Amazing man... loved it!
1:13-1:15 is called a CHIT (9). And it is played how it is supposed to be. Like in Dang San, Jiu Shui Ying, Xia Ping Yang etc. Xia Ping Yang or Ha Peng Yeung (for cantonese speakers) was what we were learning. So we didnt play that perfectly but thats what is called LEARNING! Maybe you were born perfect and never had to learn a thing but for the rest of us humble students we enjoy listening and learning. Do your homework b4 you give me shit! Hok San Sar Ping 4 LIFE!
I am also from Sar Ping, student of Master Chen in DHS. I'm really sorry that I mocked on you, my friend, and I do agree that learning Chinese tradition is fun! Once again I am sorry if I offended you, or even your sifu
We are in the same family. Apology accepted. Respects to your Sifu Grand Master Chen,He is a really nice man and like my sifu I have the world of respect for him, my wife really likes him too- we have not seen him in 2 years. Lets catch up next time im in Singapore :)
Yes, all of our movements, every step is based on the beat.. The different clefs of beats that you hear going through give the lion signals.. The drummer tells the lion what to do.. But everyone knows the routine before the performance.. this is also known as freestyle.. Make a story and based your routine on it.
Ummm......there is a sertant beat you play but I can't explain it because its hard to tell you what to play by words lol.But you sertantly won;t play the bowing beat.
i just found ur first video like..two minutes ago. and havent looked through the million that you have. but do you have any of you and your master or like..teacher? or just of ur teacher?

is the lion supposed to do certain actions based on the drum beat?

so what drumming would you use if there is no routine? What if the lion is just walking around so the people can see it and touch it?
