It can't play a measly 2 Genesis titles, but the redesigned (enlarged) cartridge port makes many more MegaDrive games plug and play. By itself, or as an "add-on" it's well worth having.

I'm genuinely curious--what difference does it make that the system (or packaging) was licensed out to Majesco? Does this mean that they had some sort of influence in the production of this Genesis version?

Just because it can't use the 32x / CD doesn't work with it, doesn't mean it's only for collectors. This is a great because it's really small, and no one cares about CD / 32x games.

One thing you forgot to mention is, this will play ALL genesis games as in U.S. Euro, asia, the slot is big enough to fit them with no mods.

the RF adapter says PAL right on it.....it's for a european "mega drive". This rf switch is outputting a different signal than the american one would...I don't know if this would even work on an american TV.

Sega was just as good as Nintendo, when it came to small, compact consoles.

Sega seemed to have tried doing what Nintendo did by making smaller consoles. Nintendo made a smaller SNES. Oh what I mean is, the DreamCast was alot smaller than PS2, Xbox, when they first came out and it had better graphics than PS2. Kinda reminds me of Nintendo with Gamecube and Wii. Just think of how powerful a handheld would be by now, if Sega was main handheld creators instead of Nintendo. More powerful than PSP

i have to say the model 3 is a real beuity it lacks everything that made the model 1 so great,rgb input stereo sound headphone jack etc,model 2 sucks compared to model 1.

indeed and also some brazilian games like duke 3d wich sucked for the genesis and frogger in 98,didn't the system had more potential then frogger in 98?.if they still want to make stuff for a classic sega console they should go for the sega cd since it's a beefed up genesis.

The possible reason it had the Mega Drive cable in there was that it was repackaged and wasnt originally boxed like that

uuh, i have one too, and i have a question, i have the model 2 and the 3 , and i never realized the purpose of the " MODE" button, can you please tell me what is it for? , and another thing, my sega model 3 came with the other wire , the one with the 2 things ( the white and the yellow) like in DVD's players , why it wasn't in there ?? lol. sorry bad english

yea, i could never figure out the reason for the "mode" button ether, but yea, this model only came with the mono-av cable, the white and yellow sucker, i remember opening the box for the first time, it was really awesome.

there is a game store here where i live that sells every game in the world they dont care how old the games is they will sell it

i always get sega genesis games from them
