  • this is so beautifully amazing

  • My mom sang this every year at Christmas in the church I grew up in. It will always remind me of her.

  • I Love It!!!

  • iLove this song : ) iEnjoyed sing it at church : )

  • I do not know why everyone gets so upset about Mary she was after all the MOTHER of God

Did nt Jesus say I am ....I am God ....The word that came to dwell amongst us the complete book of Acts the Apostles teacher and the love of life itself

    Perfect love

  • @MsHeart39 exactly, among, not above

  • gud voice melodious

  • Very Beautiful. I love God.

  • beautiful

  • Very enhancing....

  • She sings this so perfectly!!!!

  • 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.

He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom,

establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.

    Isaiah 9

  • I can't believe all the crap that Vince Gill and Amy have gone through because they were both divorced. Forgive them Amy and Gill, for they know not what they do.

  • This is so beautiful!!

  • "She is more Mother than Queen."

  • @sarlarz You do realize Mary is no more special than any other Christian, right?

  • @Quinadal - er, no. Not many others bore the Incarnation within their womb

  • @DD5975 All she was was a vessel. She is no more special than any other Christian and nowhere in the Bible does it say she should be prayed to, or that she can do anything. She died, was buried and awaits judgement like everyone else.

  • My soul exalts the Lord - whose goodness and mercy and laughter and joy and peace eclipse all our pettiness and meanness and - Jesus, thank you for making way for us to one day be joined together in You, not torn apart in ourselves.

  • This is the prayer of every mother. As all children are precious and tremendous responsibility when handed a clean slate to mold and coax to its fullest potential as a child of this universe.

  • God is SO GOOD!!! PRAISE GOD at

    GodisG.com

  • One of my all time favorite songs period. end of story. LOVE LOVE LOVE

  • My name is Nanette Yvonne Carrillo, I think this is a beautifully done song and I think she has a lovely voice. I pray that some day my song lyrics make some devatation on the christian community and everyone. Best Regards, Nanette Yvonne Carrillo from Texas

  • What else can be said? The song is beautiful. 2000 Years after Jesus' birth He is still inspiring songs in the hearts of people who would care to get to know him. You can talk theology all you want; the fact is theology will not get you to heaven. Jesus and His forgiveness offered through His death and resurrection. Christmas exists because He came to earth; salvation exists because he died for you and me.

  • @candlesiete- Very well said!

  • I'm an atheist but this song is beautiful :3 Maybe it's Amy's voice.

  • Mary was brave and strong to bear jesus. She was young and a virgin... bit that's just me. Audiobible is right though, she could've said no but didn't. She must've been scared but she did it anyway.

  • that was in response to alwmusicful

  • yes that is correct according to the Roman Catholic Church, but I am Christian. And we take the Bible for what it is and what it says. And it says "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." and "There is no one without sin. No, not one" This I believe because I am a Christian and a follower of God's holy word in its entirety.

  • @Shannonisblessed EXACTLY! Even Christ did not honor her above the rest of His followers.

  • A lot of Christians believe that Mary was just another woman. I'm Christian (not Catholic) and I know that Mary was blessed. She was chosen by God to carry his son Jesus. Read Luke 1; And she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. I don't agree with the way the Catholic church has acted in the past and present but I do respect the rituals they perform which are mentioned in the bible.

  • @DeadlyShuriken11 Which rituals mentioned in the Bible? They teach she is co-redemptrix!

  • Soooo, 123 comments re: this song? The quality of the arrangement....Maybe how the singer (who, imho is awesome) performs this piece... Idk.... The whole arguement over theology has gone too far and should be taken to another forum... Just saying.

  • @TheDsheike This is a Christian song and so of course there will be theology talk.

  • @DeadlyShuriken11 The music itself helps the words pt. to the glorious, virgin birth of our saviour. The song says "Brth of hvn, hld me 2gether, be 4ever nr me." U r referring to the comments people r making as "theology talk." But, who do you call on when you need someone; do you invoke the name of Jesus or God? If you do; then r u simply talking "theology talk?" I don't think so! in fact your need is real; not just "theology talk." JESUS IS NOT THEOLOGY! JESUS IS REAL!

  • Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas, and may the message of Peace and Hope, and Love fill your day this very special Holiday, I always enjoyed the message of this humble and yet strong and faithful woman, Mary, taken the Breath Of Heaven!, thank you!

  • What a beautiful song ...

  • thank you God for creating Mary ..

And for all the women who because of her and her example HAVE said YES to God!

THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING US ..

  • @remnant0888 If they chose God because of her, then they are not Christian. Christians choose God because of the salvation Christ brings.

  • I have yet to come upon anything remotely christian on this site without reading some kind of argument. Come on people!

  • @cyn3100 some people are just defending their (incorrect) beliefs. But i agree...but, i guess sometimes we cant just let people say, " Jesus isn't messiah"....im sorry, im ranting again X3

  • when i first heard this last Sunday, my friend had done a human video, where she went up as Mary with my jacket underneath her robe as 'the baby'(lol) and, i realized how scared she must have been, not understanding it all...i wish i could explain how i felt, but, i can't, really...im glad you put this song up, is all i can say. Merry Christmas! (Saturday is CHRISTmas~)

  • Love this song. you did a great job at putting this video together. Thanks.

  • My friend just sang this for a coffeehouse. Beautiful song and she did amazing.

  • This is REAL music!

  • Love amy grant's voice... so great.. and this song is wonderful :)

  • Beautiful ~ awe-inspiring. I love it.

  • What happened, emasters? God has not forgotten you. He loves you and wants you to come home...I will pray for you this Christmas. Blessings.

  • May the Lord Bless Everyone. Merry CHRISTmas to all!

  • Sometime music is enough to make me miss being a Christian, especially this time of year. This song takes me back to good holidays with my family.

  • @emasters7 ya me too

  • @emasters7 i don't usually miss being a christian but songs like this sure make me miss christmas sometimes...

  • @laffingdukk I worked through my "left Christianity and thought I'd never go back/ Atheism" phase too.

Keep an open mind: it's just a door to a deeper understanding. God bless.

  • @EastofForever Oh I am NO atheist, I have converted to Judaism. I love it more every day and will never go back, but christmas has positive association for me, so i miss it not being a major holiday in my life. I still respect it as my family's holiday, etc but it is not my holiday anymore.

  • @laffingdukk It's good you're not an atheist--I guess I bump into them too often on YouTube. And I genuinely celebrate your Jewish faith.

If I may, I would like to leave you a video which you can watch or not. It's the first of 5. Just sharing. I will not follow up.

I hope you had a Happy Hanukkah!

    youtube doht cohm/watch?v=FRvYSqty6bk

  • I love this song, it's so beautiful. Can you imagine how scared she was but yet so faithful and trusting of our Lord.

  • i love the last picture of this video..It really shows Mary as a Mommy...just looking at her new baby...

  • I really enjoyed watching this video.

    I was blessed and encouraged.

  • i love this song! so much meaning!

  • I'm singing this(as a solo) on the 19th. I am soooo nervous but I have faith I can do it.

  • @DaddysGirl3181 You will do great because you have faith. Where are you singing?

  • @TheKingOfBears At my Church. I will have the little kids behind me signing the chorus.

  • Lipsesc ....

  • most ppl do not know that Mary was between 14 and 15 years old when she had Jesus. Joseph i believe was between his late 20's and 30's.

  • My mom (who, along with my dad, is devout Protestant) sings this every Christmas. It's my favorite Christmas song. I want to sing it but I feel like if I do I'd be hypocritical - I'm not Christian. :/

  • @KILLmeKISSyou same here, it sucks when you want to get in the spirit of a holiday, that you technically don't celebrate.../

  • @KILLmeKISSyou If you like the song and think it's beautiful you shouldn't feel ashamed of singing it, no matter what your religious beliefs are.

  • Just enjoy the music everyone. Don't worry about being right, that's not a very great way to celebrate Him.

  • super beautiful! very peaceful, anointed!

  • super beautiful!

  • nice lyrics, too.

  • I used to sing this one (amongst others) to myself when I was just a little child of 4 and 5. My parents would always peek around doorways to watch me silently and I'd whip around and be all; "Why are you watching me? Don't you have anything better to do?" hahaha. They were a bit surprised when I came out atheist after all. Still a favorite song of mine though.

  • My all-time forever favorite Christmas song. And album - Amy Grant Home for Christmas. Go buy this CD. You won't regret it. I also recommend Sarah McLachlan's album Wintersong.

  • Thx to my mum.

  • I could listen to this song all the time. In fact after hearing it her I went to itunes and bought the whold cd.

  • @vickierc I can't open your comment from whatever Mary Song it was on. For some reason email is disabled. ;)

  • Beautiful. :D such a lovely song.

  • How can Jesus who is God and sinless come from a sinful womb and take flesh from a sinful woman? Do you know what it means to be FULL of GRACE?... Please learn your theology..

    Hail Mary..Full of GRACE!

  • @psetto727 Luke 1:28 Gabriel appeared to her and said, "Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!"

She is full of Grace because she is carrying our LORD. He is the Grace within her.

So how do you say our Lord got here.

  • You never answered my first question... how can God take flesh from someone who is under the dominion of sin? please explain..

  • @psetto727 Sorry, I should of answered your first question. "How can God take flesh from someone who is under the dominion of sin?" please explain. BECAUSE HE IS GOD,,,, AND HIS SOVEREIGNTY AS CREATOR OF ALL THINGS MEANS HE CAN PRETTY MUCH DO WHATEVER HE WANTS TO. PERIOD

  • this is not correct because Mary didnt conceive Jesus in her womb until the angel departed form her, that is why the angel says, the HOly Spirit WILL overshadow you, therefore, the angel wasnt talking about our Lord in her womb because she hadnt conceived him YET! the translation greetings favored woman are incorrect, the greek text says.. Kecharitomene which translates into full of grace! she mustve been considering she carried GOD and raised him! scripture says she is blessed among women!

  • @psetto727 Being Full of Grace simply means that she has found favor with God, as Gabriel goes on to explain.

  • this song expresses what a pregnant woman experiences in her fears, questions, hopes, etc only a woman could write the song. A young jewish woman who believes in the scriptures promised to her people, knew what they said. She also saw the responsibility, felt alone, scared, and cried out to Yah many times during the travelling, hiding, protecting Eshu as Joseph did also. this song allows u 2 see inside her view.

  • 'Breathtaking & Beautiflul'

  • God Bless Chris Eaton who considers this song as his epitaph and says: 'And my desire is to get this music into the hands and hearts of as many people as possible, irrespective of race color or creed, so that in some small way my blessed soul can be transparent enough to draw a hurting world towards a living faith in the only true Healer.'

  • And nothing about that statement 4 days ago was false...

  • Idontdoquiet - Mary was a sinner too, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" No one in this world is without sin. The only one who was, was Jesus.

  • if Mary was a sinner, how could she carry Jesus who was, clean, spotless and perfect "God" in her own womb? how could God take flesh from a woman who was under the dominion of sin.. please explain?

  • @psetto727 Obedience. How do you think the criminal to the right of Jesus was saved? Because he had nothing to lose! How did the "earthly" brothers of Jesus not believe in him....typical skeptics caught in the Law of Moses. Jesus fullfilled the Law. If someone told you that you didn't have to do something that you found as a customary thing to do over and over..habit...how would you react?

  • @psetto727 Mary was conceived and born without Original Sin - the Immaculate Conception. God had plans for her.... :o)

  • @Shannonisblessed Incorrect. Mary was born without Original Sin, i.e., the Immaculate Conception. As the future vessel of God (Jesus), she needed to be incorruptible. This is also why she was assumed body and soul into Heaven at the end of her earthly life - her body was incorruptible as the vessel that bore Jesus.

  • @alwmusicful You are crazy. Where you getting all this nonsense? Read the Bible and drop the the crazy Quran or whatever book u are reading with all the added nonsense.

  • @Shannonisblessed Suit yourself. By starting your post with an insult, I now know what you are about. Let me guess - you take a literal view of the Bible, nothing else? OK. "You are crazy." - not the most Christian thing to say. Think about it.

  • @alwmusicful Yes I do believe everything that is written in God's word and take it "literally." I didnt know it was meant to be taken out of context...?? And just because I am Christian doesnt mean I cant think that some people are looney for misconstruing God's word. Now if I would have cursed you, that would be a non-Christian thing to say. But I dont see anything wrong with thinking somebody's crazy. And you DO know what Im about - defending the word of God and my savior Jesus Christ.

  • @Shannonisblessed We'll have to agree to disagree on theology. Calling a person crazy (not just "thinking somebody's crazy") is an insult, and Christianity is not about insulting those you disagree with. Think about it.

  • @alwmusicful I am sorry if you are insulted that I think that you should read the Bible for what it is. Try it. Its a good book. Take it for what God wants us to take it for. It doesnt say "twist these words around." Think about it,

  • @Shannonisblessed I'm insulted that you think I'm crazy because I don't share your views. Pretty intolerant, wouldn't you say? No worries... :o)

  • @masterkeep if read for what it is, it means something different to everyone. Let's celebrate our likenesses and not our differences.

  • Comment removed

  • rioio what are you saying? I love this song and I certainly dont think that its worshipping Mary. My comment was in response to one individual person, Not you or anyone else. Take your own advice and please dont make judgments when you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • beautiful. love it. merry christmas everyone!

  • perfect Christmas song

  • so beautiful

  • Beautiful Song!

  • And love this song, it is beautiful

  • He doesnt want us to worship Mary his servant, she was just a human and a sinner like us. But God took favor on her and chose her. We worship Jesus alone. He is the Savior, not Mary.

  • Comment removed

  • shannonisblessed: How does this song depict one worships Mary? I guess you are implying Catholics do. However you should get your theology straight before you make false statements like that.

  • she was human yes but was born without sin.

  • We were all born without sin. And then we all sin. Christ was born without sin and did not sin. Mary was not sinless, she is not our Savior.

  • im singing this with my choir as part of a 10 song concert. its really fun to sing. :D

dont get any solo's though. im baritone.

  • I have traveled

    Many moonless night

    Cold and Weary

    With a babe inside

    And I wonder

    What I've done

    Holy Father

  • awesome message!

  • Truly what Christmas is all about. Indeed, there would be no Christmas were it not for Mary carrying and birthing Christ. Wonderful, wonderful Christmas song! Thanks for posting.

  • this song is so beutiful I LOVE IT thanks (: and the piano part is beutiful

  • This is such an incredibly beautiful song! I just love it!

  • I worship our Heavenly Father Lord God Almight Mary is Jesus' eathly mother

  • This is such a beautiful song. It deplicits the trials a young girl endured to continue with His plan.

  • Céline Dion should sing this song!

It's beautiful! So far, my friend at school has sung the most beautiful rendition of this song yet. It's a beautiful song but I don't like any professional versions yet. Sorry, but Amy Grant's voice is too rough for such a pure song...

C'est la chanson parfaite pour Céline Dion de chanter!

  • Mary is NOT our heavenly mother. We have a heavenly father only. The trinity is all we need.

  • We have this cd her Christmas one & i have listend to this song ever since a newborn i wass born 2 months early and I played baby Jesus when I was little I was born in Nov.. so that Christmas I was a star!! THis song has so much meaning

  • Mary is not worshiped -- she is honored as the mother of our Lord! We are so blessed to have her as our heavenly mother. My own mother died 13 years ago, and I am so happy to have Mary in heaven as my heavenly mother. This is a common misperception -- that Catholics worship Mary. First of all, this is a protestant song. And Catholics do not worship Mary. It's just like when you have a picture of your beloved parents. You love the picture, as it represents loved ones. Mary is Jesus' mother.

  • I agree Mary shouldn't be worshiped but I feel the photos are very tasteful and depict Mary's story quite well. I don't see anyone worshiping anyone other then Jesus. The first angel is telling her of God's plan and she looks unsure/nervous. Then she tells Elizabeth still seeming unsure/nervous. The one with the 3 angels -are looking at the baby not Mary, and Mary is oblivious to the angels, and the last one depicts a mother's loving gaze. No worshiping from what I see.

  • I have never heard this song before. It is amazing...

I am not very religious...but during the holidays it is hard not to be...all the songs are amazing and they bring great joy and happiness when I am down

    thanks for the video

  • very appropriate for Christmas

  • We sang this at mass at school today. I was a cantour. <-)

  • i had to sing this song as a solo and it was so much fun and i did awesome

  • Nice song. It gives the proper perspective of Mary. She was a servant (or "handmaid" as she called herself) and was no doubt frightened by the challenge that the Lord put before her. She is NOT to be worshiped. Too many of the pictures in this video portray that.... and it's unfortunate.

  • I agree with you mary is not to be worshipped but this song is beutiful and the pics are too there just wrong

  • Comment removed

  • Hmmm, I must be watching a totally different video. I don't see one picture of anyone "worshiping" mary. Which pictures are you referring to?

  • Starting at 2:51 the Angel "bowing down" to Mary. Bowing down before another is subjecting one's self to another.....and in the context, worship. Mary's reaction to seeing an Angel would have no doubt been the reverse of what is pictured here. SHE would have been bowing down before the Angel in fear of his presence. In fact after receiving the news she said "Behold the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done unto me according to your word." Mary was a servant of God and is NOT to be worshipped!

  • anyone heard of the song born in hallelujah by amy grant if you do tell me where u could find it

  • My school choir is singing this...at's amazing in harmony!! It gives me goosebumps every time!!

  • this song gives me goosebumps. (: so prettyyyyy !

  • I just heard this on one of the "Now That's What I Call Christmas" cds (Note: It's October 19th, 2009 and I'm already listening to CHRISTMAS music...I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!). For some reason, I had never really listened to this track before. What a beautiful, moving song! This song is definitely in my 2009 CHRISTMAS Top Ten!!! Well done with the video, too. Thanks for the post!

  • I have watched this many times I know at least 3 props come from me...people need to prop such beautiful videoes

  • AMAZING. :) we did this song 4 our church "play" two years ago, and the year b4 that. both singers (from church) were AMAZING too. i think it's a great way to spread the word. :) Gb x

  • Mary changed the course of human history by - being completely under grace - saying "Father, your will be done". Could we image what could be accomplished if every one said this?

  • AMEN!

  • @Sugarbeet1948 Oh my goddness I agree with you sugarbeet... well said...

  • @Sugarbeet1948 God changed the course of human history Mary was chosen to carry christ but God sent his only begoten son to change the course of human history forever and we should give all glory to God.

  • @TheAudioBible Mary did change the course of human history--she was given the choice to bear our Lord--she could have said no, but she didn't, she said "yes." Sugarbeet's point is to ask what the world would be like if we, like Mary, all said yes to God when we are faced with choices in our lives.

All of us can change the world if we say yes to God each and every day. Mary's example of humility and love of God is a beautiful example for all of us.

  • @Niere922 what about Batheshebas husband who David (A man after God's own heart) had killed? the Bible is not all about things going perfect if you choose to do God's will ask Job. but whats so important about Mary? oh i got it the Pagan Mythology of a Virgin Birth. to bad if Jesus was born of a Virgin then he is not of the seed of David and hence can not be the Messaiah. please Study the Bible.

  • @LegendKillerJustin - The crown rights of Jesus were inherited from his mother Mary who was of the royal seed of king David. Jesus was not the biological seed of Joseph and so inherited nothing from him in regard to the throne of David. Jesus was born King of Israel in Bethlehem. Only queens birth kings! Looks like you have some study to do as well! Blessings.

  • @dstough nice were is Mary's Geneology? wait the Bible does not give that. looks like you should study Mathew and Luke more. to bad your apologetics can't save this embrassment. but they have many people to decieve to stay rich and by their actions prove the Bible to be a liar since Christians won't hold them accountable. and where is your proof Mary is of David>? Don't assume the apologetics will help you since the Bible has nothing on Mary being of David.

  • @LegendKillerJustin im sorry if this makes you angry or annoyed, wait, im actually not. but, Jesus was born of a virgin to represent him being pure. Also, if YOU read every last word of the bible, and STILL can't believe it, it says that you either believe ALL of the bible, or none at all. Jesus is Messiah, who was and is and is to come.

  • @Wolvesauroura again you are looking for a non-jewish messaiah if you are looking to a virgin Birth and dont try Isaiah 7:14 because in context it is not about Jesus. and how do you get past the embrassment of Jesus claim he is not from David Seed?

  • @LegendKillerJustin im looking for THE messiah, Jesus. He will return, and if you can't accept the fact that He was born of a virgin, and that He will come again, then i pity you. I am not Jewish, but am Christan, going to a Church Of God. I will pray for you, and hope that you see the truth before its to late. The Rapture could take place any second, for all we know. Also, try reading the Left Behind series; they are good books :3

  • @Wolvesauroura i know you are not Jewish so i dont expect to understand the Old Testament since it is Jewish Religious text. however i have read the Left Behind Series interesting Fiction but bad Biblical Theology considering the concept of the Rapture is not Biblical. so the Rapture will not take place. and it seems you think wants and desires from belief equal truth and since thats the case how would i be wrong in wanting Hinduism correct and truth? maybe one day you will search for truth

  • @LegendKillerJustin i think this is going nowhere. So, since i understand the Old Testament, and New, from what i can at my age...um, I'm just gonna keep praying, and repeat that i hope you can see the real Truth...i won't reply anymore...but you don't win this..i will find more proof.

  • @Niere922 GOD changed the course of human history! If you think all of humanity hinged upon Mary, you may be catholic! She was not given a choice, the text does not even elude to this in any way. Biblically the only reason why anyone chooses the Lord is because he chooses you first. Read John chapter 15v16, Jesus said; "You did not choose me, but i chose you, and ordained you that you should bear fruit, that it should remain" 2nd Peter ch.1v10 says; "make your calling and HIS choosing you sure"

  • @EXALTEDDIRT amen and amen

  • @Niere922 wait Mary had a choice? you are joking right? or did you not read the accounts? I mean she was not asked if she would or not she actually feared the Angel when he came to her. wait i forgot Joseph was forced to marry Mary because of Divine Intervention through a Dream. Maybe Choice actually means Angel appears tell you you will carry God's Son and you are blessed but never was there a choice for Mary to make Niere922

I agree we can change the World FIRST WE GOT TO GET RID OF RELIGION!

  • @LegendKillerJustin just wondering why you would be looking up christmas songs and especially a song about JESUS if you dont believe?

  • @LegendKillerJustin I agree with you that getting rid of religion will, in fact, change the world. But I gather that we differ on whether the outcome would be favorable to mankind.

  • @ProfitofWar I gather that we differ. In what way has religion been favorable to humanity?

If religion is favorable to humanity why is religious people fight against change that benifits humanity. For example, stem-cell research. Why is religious people use religion and God allows them to hate people that are different them and actually do voilence against the people that have different ideas and lifestyles then them. For example, look at the history since Nicene Creed until now.

  • @Niere922 Those are beautiful thoughts-thanks for sharing. God is so good. How can we ever praise Him enough! He is awesome.Wonderful!

  • U can down load this video clip by "Download video" tools of Firefox :)

  • Can you send me a downloading link for this song? It's amazing!

  • This is such a beautiful song, isn't it? It's one of my favorite songs.
