  • i am going into the army but i respect the raf for what they do , there job is to protects the skies

  • Has the fuckin cameraman got parkinsons

  • @escortpwr05 sorry it was aimed at the bloke who claims the RAF Is just here to serve the army.

  • They got to stand easy, god love the poor guins lol. durin my pass out parade we stood at ease for 27 mins without a change arms, utter lick out haha

  • I cant wait to sign up to become an Officer in the RAF!

  • All these people hating. If the RAF didn't do their job as well as they do you guys would be fucked.

The RAF is will out doubt the most adaptable and capable out of the 3 forces

  • And now for something completely different!

  • Well done you have all done amazingly well, i am in the selection process for the royal navy, but just because that's my preferred service doesn't mean i don't appreciate all of the hard work everyone in each service does, i hope you do well in your career, in the RAF :D

Ignore all of these idiots posting ignorant, arrogant and plain rude comments on your page, they clearly have no respect, you deserve to do well :D

    xx

  • Which songs did the band play??

  • Each to their own!!

  • Ha ha ha ha, looks like your days are numbered, and not day too fukcing soon.

  • I am proud to be an ex brat, 213 entry 1968-70.

  • I can't wait to start my training there on 3rd Feb 2010!!!

  • Me too :)

  • i go to raf halton to go flying with my air cadet squadron, its nice there, going again soon

  • hopefully that shall be me some time in the next 3 years :) great video!

  • What's the name of the first piece of music???

  • Be proud. That was the best days of my life..Wearing whites and a chrome bayonet..Nothing looks flashier when presenting arms like that....Nice vid Escortpwr05

  • seriously, i was there for two years on 8, they were never as good as that on the day. Great performance!

  • you can see my hat fall off 2.40

  • It proves how ignorant people are reading these comments.. Lets put it this way, you have to have brains to even bother about joining The RAF. It makes me laugh when people seem to think that we don't do anything, Hmm who do you call when your being pinned down by the enemy and have no means of getting out.. Oh yeah that's it.. It's our fighter jets that get you out of the shit. Who gets you to that warzone so you can even start your job, ohh hang on a minute isnt not the RAF!! :-S

  • You fucking moron.

  • Yes. When my Bro (who passed out of Halton as a LAC Driver) was dodging bullets driving convoys in Iraq and Afghan with TSW he felt like a civilian.... Also when he saw his mate almost get taken out by an insurgent mortar Im sure he felt like a Civvy in uniform too.... f**kin grow up and try talking from your mouth not your arse next time.

  • Civvies in Uniform?

Ill remember that when im setting up the Sat relay so you can call home to your wife and kids.

Ive made it through training, I could be selected to guard convoy at any time.

I take it you're a bloody Pongo? No brains... Me pull trigger... make big bang... man fall down..

  • LOL

Everyone no matter what job they do in be it the RAF, Army, Navy should get respect. They are part of the (now here's the part kennykins66 should listen too) ' Armed Forces ' which means they have signed up to lay down their lives for their country, which in itself should be respected.

    RIP to the Fallen

  • It's all about the 8flt! just passed out on the 10th March

  • chrisnw90, dats below a belt. but yer it pisses me off when they say we're a waste of money, complete bollocks, and yes it does show lack of intelligence on people who say it!!!

  • cant believe some of the army grunts are on here spouting off about the RAF is a waste of money. if the RAF didnt exist the army would be fucked. Who provides air support for you's like? Thing is us people in the RAF have to have a magnitude of intelligence. we are not disposable like people in the army because any one can hold a gun but not anyone can pilot a jet. You's are cannonfodder nothing else.

  • Problem is, most of you are (as my old neighbour calls you) penguins, i.e. one in every million fly's. Its this huge majority who rub the other services. What do you all do? Do you provide air support personally chrisnw90? Its more than I can bare reading comments from muppets who will never face danger, being derogatory about people who will.

  • So what about the RAF regiment then. Who operate with the UK special forces support group - one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Or ANY of the people in RAF for that matter. You dont have to hold a gun or be in danger to get respect from me. I'm RAF Regiment and I have respect for every single person in the armed froces because without them none of us could do our jobs. No clerks or admin - we dont get paid, or get to go home. No Analysts - we go into field with no intel.Your just a mug.

  • Oh dear. I think you have got mixed up here. Raf reg do not operate with SFSG. Only marines and paras do.

  • think ur wrong there m8, done a year with sfsg and raf reg do operate with em

  • Am am an ex brat of many years ago, I am proud to be, next time a helicopter comes to pick you up after you have been to hell & back spare a moment to remember that we serviced it to come & get you.

Many ex brats died as well in their service, please remember them. We are ALL fighting the same war!

  • That's all very nice skipy936, and I don't know what a brat is, but it sounds to me like you're another noncom sheltering under the crab airline safety umbrella. In other words a civilian could be doing your job.

When will you crabs stop living under the misapprehension that you are servicemen/women?

  • Get a life & learn some respect, 55,000 killed in bomber command alone in WW2, most dangerous job of WW2 except Uboats! I was lucky I had an easy time, luck of the draw, others not so lucky just plain dead!

I respect all who take the shilling, perhaps you could try to.

  • OK say that to the families of the service men and women killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, or what about the injured RAF service men and women injured in hospitals - you're wrong YOUR the civilian in uniform. Theres no place for people like you in the military, if your attitude were know to your chain of command you'd be surprised at what would happen. Your little feet wouldn't touch the ground!

  • I just cannot get over some of the comments regarding the RAF on here. It's absolutely pathetic. Anybody to even think they're small time or play a very little part in military operations abroad seriously needs their brain checking. Think some people seriously need to do some research before they start spouting off a load of old un-researched, mindless bullshit.

  • there still doesn't seem much point in all of this. THe outcome of this is questionable. You may wake up one day and find you're self extinct

  • Some of these comments are Ridiculous. The British armed forces or anyone who is proud of a particular part of it shouldnt be bad mouthing the other units of the military. We're supposed to work together. Consequently I'm spamming all posts non related to this video which depicts new servicemen/women becoming part of something great.

  • Such happy memories, I did square bashing at RAF Halton in 1959, good the camp is still going...thank you.

  • that where u clean da rifles and stuff ma next door neigbour was on about that today at a cadet camp when he was a kid, ...weird :P

  • i wasn't whining, just the constant bitching between services gets to me, you dont have to like the royal air force, but theres no need coming on here spouting off shit, theres plenty of army and RN forums you could easily do that on

  • You can't just have pilots in the air force, can't just have infantry soldiers in the army, or seaman in the navy, who supplies the equipment, who transports the equipment, who repairs the aircraft, weapons systems and vehicles? without personell supporting the main source of power the army RAF and the navy can't function, please tell me how that is a drain on funds?

  • Let me explain, you're right about the fighting men needing support but in the RAF's case, it's ridiculous.

The RAF has always been an unnecessary waste of money. If the RAF had not been formed the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service would have fought the Battle of Britain, simple.

The buffoon Trenchard who was, at best ill informed, and at worst, down right dangerous, constant meddling in the UK's military has been damaging and far reaching.

  • Had the RAF not existed, much needed aircraft carriers for the RN would have been built, and the army would have had much better equipment and resources.

The RAF's role for quite a few years now, has been low level bombing and we all know how good at that they are.

  • Heres to the crabs, may they continue to serve the needs of the Army forever. Oh and waiter, another Beer if you will. lol

  • The RAF serve the needs of this country...as do the Army.

  • No, you do as we tell you. We want air support, you provide it. You tansport us to where we need to be.

That is why you guys are scared shitless of beoming triservice, cos you're worried that the army will be the driving force, as it should be.

  • @escortpwr05 Tell you what. Before you make comments like that, take a look at history! If it wasn't for the RAF you would be fighting for the Wehrmacht not the British Army. Wehrmacht being Hitlers Nazi forces. Have you heard of the battle of Britain? You know.....that event which halted the Invasion of Britain from Hitlers forces. The British Army weren't even in the country! Home guard would not have stood a chance. Approx 600 Spitfires and Hurricanes defeated 1500+ Luftwaffe.

  • @battlestorm123 What comment is that? I served in the RAF and in HMG both over here and abroad. I know my history and im very proud of the armed forces of this country especially the RAF... not sure what your on about

  • @escortpwr05 Sorry it was aimed at that bloke rodbobthebrit who claims the RAF serve the army.

  • @rodbobthebrit Are you an idiot? Do you really think the RAF is to serve the army? You idiot. Go back to school.

  • @rodbobthebrit Tell you what.

  • Ha ha ha, I love winding crabs up.

Look its like this forkyou, wayne and escort, I have huge respect for the armed forces. This is my whole point, you lot aren't part of the armed forces. I have respect for your pilots, the RAF regiment, and also your medical staff, but the rest of you are civilians in uniform, and consequently just a drain on the defence budget.

This is common knowledge throughout the rest of the armed forces and I just thought I should make you aware of it.

  • That is obviously a very narrow minded view on what constitues being 'part of the armed forces'. In this day and age there is no room for that sort of attitude.... apart from the ones that work in pers admin...your right about them.

  • As I said earlier, my brother is not a pilot/medic or RAF regiment. He's TSW. And he's done his stints in Iraq and Afghan. Mostly driving nice fat bullet magnet deathtraps of fuel tankers. I doubt you have even served other than behind a desk, if you had you'd have worked alongside the "groundcrew" and realise a few home truths.

  • @kennykins66 Your a total fool. 100% idiot lol the RAF does allsorts. From pilots to even the most basic of jobs. They are all serving queen and country. They can be posted anywhere in the world including on the ground in Afghanistan just like the army, carry guns and other weapons and play a huge part in the armed forces. You sound like a diluded young lad who needs to do a bit of growing up. The armed forces would not work without the Royal Air Force.

  • @kennykins66 How do you think the pilots operate? Do they just fly through the air randomly or do they need (air traffic controllers) to guide them? Communications and Intelligence to analyse the safety of air missions and much more? Who do you think operates the weapons? Cartographers? Operations assistants? Movers? Drivers? Suppliers? Chef's? Scientists? Radiographer? Security and Defence? The whole system wouldnt work without all of these.

  • @costateguise dont forget the RAF Fire service!!!!! haha

  • @kennykins66 But your right in a way. Its not like the army. Difference is... people in the army...if they can spell their name correctly...then their in. Usually the more educated civilians go into work with the Royal Air Force. Your knowledge of the armed forces and how it works are absolutley shocking lol Anyway...great video. Great parade.

  • Kennykins you obviously dont know much, and obviously have no respect for the armed forces, i suggest you sit down and think about how meaningless your life is.

  • I reckon Kennykins probably does an incredible amount of sitting down. He might like to research the battle of britain where invasion was IMMINENT were it not for the RAF. Heavily outnumbered and facing superior air power they successfully held the Luftwaffe at bay. I'd love to stick him on a cliff somewhere in the freezing cold and we'll see who comes to his rescue. Won't be the RAF will it?

  • If I did an incredible amount of sitting down, as you suggest, then I too would be in the RAF.

Wasn't the RAF at the time of the battle of britain mainly made up of foreigners and RN pilots?

Oh and you're right about the RAF not coming to my rescue, they will probably all be too busy doing a "course".

  • Well done, your an idiot. "foreigners and RN pilots"? While you are correct in that we did have allied pilots flying from our bases in england im not sure why you think RN pilots had anything to do with it, seeing that the RN air fleet arm and the RFC were joined together in 1918 to form the royal air force so at the time of the battle of britain there were very few pilots from the RN, most infact were fresh officers that happened to be able to ride a motorbike.

  • @escortpwr05 lol @ air fleet arm

  • And of a side note the FAA had been reformed by WW2 with about 230 planes. Not exactly making up a huge portion of our air defences.

  • And we wouldn't have to provide thousands of you future traffic wardens with hotel accommodation every time some of your aircraft are moved about.

Does that explain your drain on funds question?

Lets face it you lot just spend all your time on courses, why, because you've got nothing better to do.

Now stop whining about it and think yourself lucky your able to get away with it.

  • Have you had the pleasure of reading DCI 15? If you are not aware of it's presence or content I will briefly explain. It is essentially a catalogue of courses both non essential and bone which any soldier can apply for, but not necessarily get. These range from equipment repair and driving courses through adventurous training and the like. I was stationed in Bordon, Hampshire. We were actively ENCOURAGED by our CO to attend courses when not on deployment.

  • Whilst I agree with your comments in part, I would like to add the following:

    1. You will not change history, FACT

    2. You will never swing public or government opinion on utube, FACT

    3. The government could equally save millions by disbanding outdated cavalry regiments such ar KT RHA, Blues and Royals and Life Guards and have a smaller armoured corps maintaining adequate armoured support which is frankly outdated. Reconnaisance should be carried out by Spec Ops and Aerial support. FACT.

  • I would like to explain that I served with REME as an armourer. I have no allegience to the RAF whatsoever, however, having worked with the RAF on a couple of occasions, I admire their professionalism. My Grandfather was a pilot as was my uncle. Both flying with Rhodesian squadrons. Neither of which ended up as traffic wardens. My uncle is now a commercial pilot in South Africa and my Grandfather became a very successful cabinet maker. Both commanded enormous respect from everyone they met.

  • detol stops dirt and limescale FACT :)

    sorry i cunt resist

  • crap filming of a great feeling....

  • How come these crabfat non-coms are allowed to wear a uniform. Its about time these wasters were got rid off and the money saved put into the RN and Army, who actually face danger.

  • ha ha ha ha kennykins66 you sound like such a looser! get a life and be proud of people in the armed forces which ever service they are in, maybe your jelous i dont know but u dont seem happy with yourself.

  • Your an idiot. I could go on to attack your argument but i wont bother. Your total lack of respect and obviously low IQ do far more damage than i ever could.

  • This is a great video. Air Cadets was a great period of my life, all the fieldcraft, marching, 'initiative' exercises, Proteus camp once a year, man it was truly awesome!

  • hey forkyou89 i start rts on 17th sept as well, got my pre rtc on 31st july

  • Goodluck mate.you will be fine!

  • Hey, im also going on the 28th of may.

  • what you going in as?:-)

  • alright thanks for that

  • ive got my first interview on the 12th of may how long does the process of getting in take from the first interview normally?

  • depends on how well the rest of the proces goes.the best person (s) to ask that Q is the AFCO.they normally say 8-9 months just to make sure its the right step for you.

  • ive got ma specialist interview on 28th for dental nurse, ive passed pretty much all of the rest apart from final, is it easy to fail after all of this?

  • just make sure you know exactly what your going into.the only way to fail is by you not preparing yourself for the interview.its easy to fail, however like i say as long as you know about your training u ok.what do u know about that your training involves?where u going to be doing your training? what are you going to be taught etc.GOODLUCK!

  • well passed final interview and entry date is 28/05/08!!

  • I passed out in 6 flight a week or so before this. Time flies!

  • im going on the 28th of may

  • is any 1 on her going to halton on the 14th of may

  • I hate Crabs!

  • I wonder how many people on here will actually get that..

  • Happy 90th birthday to the RAF.

    "Through adversity to the Stars"

  • well I am Potentially joining as RAFP as dog handler in May 08.sad comments made about them on here.oh well.

  • I would say it is unfair of me to tar all RAFP with the same brush. However my comments on them are based on personal experience.

  • well i hope i wont be the same.i work for civy police at mo and so i have my own style and way of dealing with ppl and try to make humour of it in the same sense.we all do get ourselves in bother.thats just life.i can understand your comments though.

  • it is not so much how the RAFP deal with people who get in trouble. Its the general attitude they have to everybody.

  • I can totally understand where your coming from. I have had a few colleagues who have had the power go to there heads and have to tell them to back off. Its a shame its a hated trade, even if it is the Police!lol.i hope i can prove to be different.what trade you in?

  • I did join as an EL Tech, doesnt exist any more however, CIS-ENG these days (Communication & Information system's Engineer). Not a member of the mob any more tho.

  • Sounds a challenging trade. when you say not a memeber of the 'mob',as in your no longer part of the RAF?

  • Me and the RAF parted ways a long time ago now.

  • I have my pre-RTC in april and then a specialist interview end of april to confirm my place.Any tips you can give me or our friend that you was watching in this vid? i have come this far and i just really do not want to mess it up!its taken me 4 years to get to hear lol.any info, tips etc would be much appreciated. i have a good idea what they will ask, but not sure if they may trick me?!

  • They don't try and trick you. They just want to make sure your not a total idiot, despite wanting to join the forces lol, and if you are a total idiot then you will just have to join the RAF Regiment lol or the Army :-P

  • lol many thanks for the positive comment.well i am certainately not joining th reg or army.thats just through personal choice.i'll just prove that i dont have an ASBO and i'll be fine :-D!

  • Hey dont talk to me about ASBO's..... ive got one on the way to me, however im not a scum bag but somebody seems to think my 2.8 v6 capri is just too darn loud and has complained enough to get me in trouble. Makes we wish i was back in the RAF, even a Capri can't match the sound of a Typhoon at full tilt.

  • lol no way.well apologies, no offence meant.you are going to find that its the OAP who has nothing better to do who, caused that to happen.we used to have one live by us.i'll say no more!

  • my PRE RTC was literally ... today. U just got back from it. Anyone who is looking to join the RAF, should basically be already at a gym or training as such! :P ITS EASY :P

  • Well done guys & gals. Hard to believe I did the same thing at RAF Swinderby in July 1972

  • i did my test at the start of february and have completed every stage and have been given my training starting date, 16th of april. its all gone so fast! cant wait!

  • Good luck! Hope it all goes well for you.

  • Why are the RAFP the most hated group in the RAF?? i was thinking of joining them lol

  • well that's easy to answer, they are the police lol. Not to mention being well known as total c*nts

  • So thats what i will be known as the c*nts of the RAF if i join as police dog handler then? Ill set my dog on ya'all lol :P

  • Well i dont have anything against them, the person i was watching when recording that vid was joining to become a snow drop (rafp) as a police dog handler.

  • Got a Specialist Interview for RAF Fire-Fighter on April 7th. If all goes well, that place in the video will be my home for 9 weeks. :D

  • absolutely brilliant.

Cant wait to start on the 30th April,

    anyone else there then?

  • is the initial training seperate for males and females?

  • no males and females train together.

  • My friend has his aptitude tests and interview tomorrow (photographer). Best of luck to him, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows when he'd be off to Halton? Gonna miss my friend lol, but I shouldn't be too far behind him hopefully!

  • could be just a couple of months.

  • I'm due to start 30th April, got my familiarisation visit 13th match

  • I'm currently going thru the application process to join the RAF as an aircraft technician. 1st interview is tomorrow! if i get in i'll be doing that parade in a few months! looks shit scary!

  • Good luck! I'm sure you will do just fine and hope you enjoy RAF life.

  • hehe. Here here! :)

  • ah ok thanks again. sorry only 15. but thats helped quite a bit. hehe the RAF stucture is more complicated than the army :)

  • it is indeed but that's because the IQ of the RAF is higher ;-)

  • ok. yeah sorry for be vague lol, I mean a flight that actually flies aircraft, including pilots and aircrew etc.lol

thanks about the RAFP thing lol. may be a weapon systems officer then

  • The RAF is divided up into Squadrons not flights, the 'flights' like in this video are used at raf cranwell and halton to divide up the recruits into groups.

The size of a squadron changes from squadron to squadron. Some can be quite large and others can consist of just a hand full of crew and aircraft.

  • i have a Q.

how big is a flying flight? does it vary depending on the type of aircraft the squadron uses?

    and one other one.

do people hate the RAFP? im considering joining them but not if theyre automatically despised lol

  • in short yes the RAFP are the most hated group in the RAF. Not quite sure what you mean by flying flight?

  • i hope to join to become a pilot. jst wanna know can i join as an officer? to be a pilot

  • You have to be an officer to be a pilot.

  • Thank You, I'm sure I'll be needing help soon!

  • Me? If so I'm joining as a steward but I want to do air stewarding aswell ;)

  • well i wish you all the best with your application and hope you enjoy halton. You will either love it or go awol on day 0. if you have any Q's id be happy to help you out. just get me on msn athena791 at hotmail dot com

  • I applied today, I'm so excited! If I get through I'll do my 9 weeks military training at Halton.

  • what you joining as?

  • mONTY pYTHONS FLYING CIRCUS LOL, GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL EITHER PASSING OUT OR JOINING UP, CANT WAIT UNTIL ITS MY TURN.

  • cant wait till i pass out, pass out on 29th jan i fink?? lol, my trade is a firefighter as well maz1789 hope ya interview went well, halton m8 is crackin so far anywayz lol

  • ah, thanks for the help. I'm actually applying for firefighter and I'm currently bricking myself trying to find relevant info for my interview tomorrow. Is that easy to pass anyone?

  • Got a selection interview on tuesday, anyone have any idea what will be the likely start time of my basic? This is my first interview but I completed the airmen selection test just last week.

  • depends what your joining as? however probably wont be long, your probably looking at a febuary start now.

  • brother passes out in 4 weeks !!! :D

  • i was 6flt halton jul-sep 2003

  • i was there that summer aswell, in the baking heat!

  • I'm up for 23rd January 2008.

  • anyone got an intake for Halton on 19th sept 2007?

  • Im hardcore, it doesnt bother me! Will we not get a week off though over xmas?

  • yes, we do get a week off, im hoping to find some fire section somewhere to harrass them for the duration! perhaps i'll have to cook them a roast dinner as a gesture of thanks!

  • Anyone got there basic start date at Halton for the 14th November?

  • i start halton then too! Raf Firefighter- cus this Firefighter chick kicks ash! though we will be there over xmas, how do you feel about that?

  • I spent 5 years as an RAF FF..!!! Not all it's hyped up to be... I can tell you..!!!!

  • pray tell... as we know we will be playing a lot of volleyball...lol

  • I was there in 1987/88 when it was No.1 S. of TT!!!!!! Propulsion Technician Trade Training...... place hasn't changed a bit!

  • Brings back memories! I was 7FLT in June-Sep 1999. Congrats
