what an amazing piece played so well. we're doing this in my school orchestra and my audition is coming up next week and i just cant stop watching this video.....it's played exceptionally well (PS violas kick ass)
Greetings from Singapore! Very impressive piece of work!
Ah, the nostalgia. I played this with my String Ensemble in our annual concert when I was 13. Too bad I've stopped playing my violin for about 3 years now. Hearing this really makes me wanna pick up my violin again ;p
A Far Cry is a professional chamber orchestra in the Boston area, although we tour often. Ages range from mid-20s to mid-30s. Thanks for the compliments!
what are the backgrounds of most of the players, ie. do you all come from different areas/schools/countries, etc. or did you all find eachother in the scope of a smaller setting, say at a single institution or two?
We are playing this song right now to tape for the Honor Orchestra in Texas =D idk if we'll play it as good. but your pp is not soft..ours you can like barely hear..
I am a violinist in A Far Cry and I went to HSPVA in Houston. That is so exciting that you guys are getting to work on this piece. A Far Cry would love to come and do a tour of Texas next year! Good luck with Honor Orchestra!!
Amazing, without a conductor... Are you guys pro musicians or amateurs? I'm playing in amateur orchestra and we are practicing the whole serenade, but we are far, far away from the level you are performing.
Thanks! We are all pro musicians in the Boston area, trying to build A Far Cry into a well-paying permanent ensemble :) Good luck with your performance of the Serenade.

Are rehearsals done without a conductor as well? I'm so amazed, we played this and even with a conductor it was difficult to stay together. This really does sound like one big string organism which is how every orchestra should sound. =D
4:14 was the most fun for me to play in my orchestra :3

The phrase at 6:29 to 7:10 was absolutely gorgeous. My favorite part of the whole piece and you definitely did it justice.
Also, the whole group had great balance. (:

sounds pure but painful to watch due to the concertmaster's foot work.
