  • This is Goooood!!!

  • This was our wedding song. 30n years and counting and still friends

  • Nice video very nice i like it wt a song u r my best friend

  • Beautiful version of a beautiful song! Sure love Don's voice and spirit, he truly makes me feel better about life whenever I'm down and listen to one of his songs!

  • Out of all the country music legends, living & dead, Don is the one I would most like to sit down with over a cup of coffee & just shoot the breeze. He sure comes across as the most laid back, friendly guy imaginable. And from the lyrics this man has written, you KNOW he has a poets soul.

  • I'm 11 and other than the birth and ring etc this song makes me think of my passed aunt aunt and my dad,my aunt said I was her favorite and she loved me,those were the last words she said to me, I was the last one to see her and she really was my best friend R.I.P auntie-3

  • <3 <3 <3 Who couldn't possibly love this?? I adore the the fact that Don allows his audience to finish the song for him, and the way that he lovingly looks onward as if it were the very 1st time he'd ever heard it. He appears to have tears welled up in his eyes at the end. The way that he says "Ah, that's so pretty" just absolutely melts my heart. What a beautiful and ever so talented man. I heart The Gentle Giant!!

  • what a fabulous song by such a talented musician! It's sad his music ended when he died.

  • @horseisbeauty Don Williams is NOT dead.. He's very much alive and well today. Long live the Gentle Giant!!

  • Love the singer and the song ******************s

  • He refers to his wife as his bread, shelter, anchor and friend. It's good to love your wife, but it's possible to get your priorities reversed.

John 6:35: Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry...

Psalm 91:1-2: Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Hebrews 6:19: We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

John 15:14 You are my friends if you do what I command.

  • @bsp256 darn, too busy reading and not listening. behold to the wind that carries charm. such silly toilet water talk must be reserved to those that like you. go plea your pity time wasting whatcha me call it. GOOD music needs NOT you and your silly what ever. please flush.

  • When I heard this song with its beautiful lyrics for the first time, I happened to meet my future wife for the fist time only a couple of days earlier. I had the feeling that this song was being played for the two of us. And ever since this is our song. When my wife needs comfort, I play it for her, and then she feels allright again.

Nobody will ever put so much feeling in a song as Don

  • @Brummi013 i could say its real and sincere, how many peopole of this generation ever want to sing this type of song.it is very honest.

  • @Brummi013 Greetings to you Brum from America and from me. Don doesn't jump around much but has plenty of emotion come through in his songs. I loved how the crowd joined him, it sounded almost angelic to me.

  • Look at his eyes! They sparkle like there are stars in each! :D He sings this song so beautifully!

  • Think this Don's best song

  • Awesome

  • This song was my wife & I's "OUR SONG". It was also her favorite until she passed on this day: April 25, 1992 (18 years ago).

We were able to see him in concert 3-4 times. Such a deep and mellow voice.

  • I bought "Pozo Seco Singers" when DW sang tenor, - with Susan Taylor and +++. Some years later DW came on his own with Vol 1, and then Vol 2, and even a Vol 3, and he was going for Vol 4, but then the producer said stop now Don, and they called it Harmony, - followed by Visions, and I was building up my collection of all his LP/CD.s

and also some Video, later DVD.s. HERE was the new Jim Reeves, the same voice, but more "fresh" I told the saleschief in our musicstore. ThM, Norway

  • Great song by a fantastic singer! I love Don Williams' singing. I wish our country music was still like this today!

  • Great news, our local paper reported Don will be inducted to the C&W Hall of Fame later this year!

  • the gentle giant was great

  • Great song, but he looks stoned.....

  • This is a truly special song that shows us what a relationship should truly be- first and foremost originating from being 'best friends'.... :) how sweet and romantical - it makes me cry- I was familiar with his music, but just discovered this gem on the radio by chance about half a year ago !

  • great. they don't sing songs like that anymore. country music as a genre no longer exists. what passes for country today is pop and rock music. here's to hoping old school country-western makes a comeback.

  • @hrvo6 I totally agree with you.Don Williams is Country at it's very best

  • @hrvo6 I made this comment yesterday. It has become a rock/pop/county mix with maybe a slide guitar and a fiddle on occasion. I guess that makes it more appealing to more people.

  • @hrvo6 Whoa, whoa, not so fast. Don't condemn everyone for the mistakes of a few. Like most music, country is constantly in flux & evolving. Remember 80's "Pop" country? Most was little more than "easy listening" w/a fiddle&steel guitar added or left out. Well, now's the same way. When Shania started, many said, "it ain't country!" Now you have Kid Rocks who TRY country for $. Some may say this song ain't either, 'cause it don't sound like Hank Williams. Let's live & let live? Plentya room.

  • this is real country music.

    loves from holland

  • They just don't have great singers like Don Williams anymore, Love his music

  • What a lovely comment ! Thanks Paul

  • @slowpoke4851 I respectively differ. I usta say the same thing as a crotchedy old geezer, but right after that, someone like Kenny Chesney or Brad Paisley would hit one out of the park. & what about Geo. Straight;AlanJackson;Tim McGraw;TobyKeith;Darryl Worley;Reba;Taylor Swift;Carry U.;MirandaL;RascalFlats, etc.... No, country don't have any shortage of talent. We just hafta admit the times they're achangin' & accept what comes or just turn the station if we don't like what they're playin'.

  • @StevieB1362 slowpoke--you are right things do change--sometimes the change for the better or the worse..This time as far as i am concerned it changed for the worse--For example all lyrics and melodies sound the same-There is no feelings or stories in songs anymore--In fact i cant understand a word they are even saying--And i always thought a woman was sexy--not a tractor lol--But how about Merle Haggard being tabbed by major newspapers as the Frank Sinatra of country music? Speaks for itself.

  • As good as it gets, flks! :)))

  • tahaks kommenteerida ,aga tean et ingliskeelne publik ei saa sittagi aru millest ma räägin, sellegi poolest Häid Jõule,

  • Has anybody ever seen anything finer than this ?

  • hi JSavic, just heard this song for the very first time.......it made me cry.........so straight from the heart!!!

  • This song sings itself. Don starts it & the audience finish it. FANTASTIC !!!!!

  • I got to say BRACK42 said it best, Don has retired but his AWESOME voice will go down as one of the best in the world....

  • the look on don's face as they sing. man thats priceless :)

  • nice and slow........

  • all time favourite fantastic

  • There are songs which don't need to be so long to play and there are songs which when you listen to it the first time you love it that is how Don Williams songs are. Great clip of Don Williams singing one of his most memorable songs! Thank you every much for this great song.

  • thats some good stuff!

  • I love Don and his songs so much! :)

  • Does anyone know where he did this gig ? Was it the UK ? Wembley per chance ?

  • wish he would come to liverpool FAAAANATASSSTIC

  • Youd still be evreything i need,

  • This guy makes me cry every time I hear him, and I'm definitely a man's man! Loved him at 14 - when being a fan of country music made you a figure of fun - and still do nearly 30 years later. Don Williams - simply the best.

  • danced with the wife to this on our wedding evening.shes still my best friend after nearly 20 years.love you diane.

  • 2 awesome....love the way he loves to hear his fans sing his song....u can see the joy in his heart....very moving!!

  • My Favourite song

  • My all time favorite! What a magical voice.

  • The best love song ever

  • beautiful song ...great artist ....!!!!

  • Life without music is a mistake and this song proves it ..... time and again ... its the purest form of music ... Thankyou Don ..

  • TRUE country music. Not that stuff they have out today, it's ashame where today's so called "country" music led to but at least we have this! Don Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, etc, etc. Thanks for posting. Peace

  • Agreed. THIS is country. If I want to hear screaming guitars and wailing vocals, I'll throw in some Zeppelin. DW is my favorite male country singer of all time. Listening to his voice is like curling up in a warm blanket by the camp fire on a cool autmn night. Thanks Don! Enjoy your retirement! You've earned it old friend.

  • I just love Don William to here him sing because he wasn't flashy just a good old country singer.

  • Ya know what I like about Don Williams? He's not a "rhinestone Cowboy". He's not a flashy performer. He's not a dressy singer. Just a down home and plain sort of guy who can out perform any of the new and upcoming singers. Don, you are easy to love,

  • 5 ****LOVE THIS 1 ALSO

  • All time great singer.

  • We'll always be your friend Don.Thanks for the music.Country music at it's best.

  • This is typical of Don's concerts, where the audience sings along word for word. These are great songs from a great guy. Real talent. Real meaning. Real life. I loved seeing him in concert. He would say, "We're real excited to be here" in such a calm southern drawl, it was hilarious. But I sure was excited to see him. Thanks Don for some of the best songs ever.

  • Very beautiful song by a wonderful singer!

  • this song made me drink today....its wednesday lol thanks don

  • sang with so much passion.

  • you will always be in our hearts DON

  • My dad passed away last week and my mum has asked this to be played at his funeral which will be very moving as they have been together since they were 15 and their now over 70. Love you so much wee dad.

  • It seems that your parents had a wonderful live together. Be proud to live in this family and rember your dad as an honourable man.

    My sympathy from Austria,

    Karabena

  • I saw him live many years ago...one of the best concerts I've ever attended, 5*****s!

  • I saw Don sing this live...he is awesome!

  • your my best friend Don

  • This is a beautiful song....

  • This is awesome!!! I love it:)

    Grandma Mary

  • One of the best singers ever. My late wife, on her death bed made me play his greatest hits cd. It relaxed her.

  • Yep...I saw Don a few years ago, the year he retired. The music brought tears to my eyes. Good as it gets, a perfect show.

  • I just saw George Jones and Merle Haggard last night in Corpus Christi, Texas and they were AWESOME. Don NEEDS to be up there with these guys. What would country music be WITHOUT the "Gentle Giant"?

  • Absolutely amazing music. My dad used to sing this without even knowing what Don Williams looked like - just listen on the radio in India on Radio Ceylon. He has passed on now and the magic is still there when I listen to this song - along with In the Shelter of Your Eyes. Go Don.

  • i love this song don

  • Country music will never be this good again. All of the soul is gone, what was once genuine is now purely pop music.

  • Lord you just told the truth....country music like this will never be seen again...and we are all poorer for it.

  • Don is simply the best!
