Will Smith is one of the best leading 'serious' & 'emotional' & 'comedic' & 'fun' actors of all time. He had rapped before he even went big in acting, but found his true place in the act world. He has far more classy original lyrical rhymes than any of these past 10-15 years of rappers. Only reason why he's not looked at greatly as a rapper is because he's just so much better as an actor.
He is one of the only few who can be so silly AND so emotionally serious and still do both 110% greatly.

most rappers are limited to basic ebonic vocabulary, that's part of the reason their rapping is so limited...

I doubt it, he might be better than half the mainstream rappers, but hes nothing special. hes got decent lyrics, and a couple good lines, but honestly i cant really take him seriously, especially after fresh prince of bel air. but i know will smith has nothing on the underground. the beat is bomb tho

Will Smith is one of the best leading 'serious' & 'emotional' & 'comedic' & 'fun' actors of all time. He had rapped before he even went big in acting, but found his true place in the act world. He has far more classy original lyrical rhymes than any of these past 10-15 years of rappers. Only reason why he's not looked at greatly as a rapper is because he's just so much better as an actor.
He is one of the only few who can be so silly AND so emotionally serious and still do both 110% greatly.

he's one of the best rappers atm, and it doesnt make any sense he's less respected, with songs as tell me why, lost and found, rain, then someone like 50 who's rappin about a girl licking his lolly... for example

oh no doubt hes better than mainstream artists, im not trying to knock him. what he says is what i feel bout rappers, but saying will smith is the best mc is a major overstatement. its opinion, theres no way to officially say anything is the best, this is just my thoughts man. its just that what hes saying -which is basically he knows how to do it and nobody else does- would be more effective if he himself were actually a legendary artist. in my opinion, he just doesnt live up to his lyrics

not to mention the ridiculous amounts of money he could spend to get people to produce, edit, even ghost his songs. nobody else (thats actually a good artist) would have bank like will smith. like his 200000000 box office record breaking movies, and such. like the beat alone would make any song good. if i could somehow gain enough money to buy that, i could have made a sick song. its all good though, no disrespect to his royal freshness

I know you weren't disrespecting him, just giving your oppinion anyways, in a good way with arguments ;-) I simply disagreed on the fact that you cant take him seriously, because of something he used to do.
And to come back at the legendary artist part, he decided to promote his movies more then his music, you barely ever hear his songs on radio or tv nowadays. Besides that, he's still the first to get a rap grammy, making him kinda a legend already ;-)
