Man this works! In just a couple hours I learned the Hiragana characters. I have tried to learn Hiragana using "Study Japanese for Ipad" but it was just not working. Not that SJI is a useless app, on the contrary, it is more effective now that I have used Dr. Moku's mnemonic method. I don't understand why all learning apps do not incorporate mnemonics. It is a proven and highly effective method for learning. I still remember the ABC song I have learned 40yrs ago.
I would see a kana, pronounce it, write it, then 10 secs later test myself on that same kana and cannot, for the life of me, remember what it sounds like. Very frustrating. I need a mnemonic program like this.
Someday, however, they will incorporate SIRI into language programs for Ipad/Iphone so that you can pronounce the kana/kanji instead of having to write the Romaji for the characters.
I quite enjoy the usage of mnemonics(connecting a common element of one piece of into to another to make it stick stronger) employed here, but it really sounds like some Suburban kid trying to affect a Japanese accent in speaking English, and unless it's to be silly, it is really off putting. No need for such gimmicks when you already got a quality product, man(to properly affect the accent, though, means using Mora, rather than syllables, when speaking English)
Agreed :( This really helps me out but it's only available for ipad and iphone and not everyone has things like iphones, ipad and android. Having something on the website would really help :(
The people calling this method stupid, must clearly be stupid, this is a clever idea and works! i struggle remebering hiragana Dr Mokus makes learning hiragana so much easier ! ^ ^
@alexandermakoto hey, yes we are working on Modified and animated strokes for the new update in early 2013. Our Facebook is Dr. Moku, just search for that. Thanks for your support!

It's said on the video "Continue learning for free at my website drmoku.com." But it's not there!
Then on the website it said get the Dr.Moku app on ipod touch for free. But when my sister tried to get it it cost $3.99 of something. WTF? D:

"Shikuma" means brown bear? Are you sure?
I know Japanese does have the word "kuma" for bear,
but it doesn't have the word "shikuma"!

@Koiyuki
I am sure it's on purpose. It worked on me though. It was the stupid accent that attracted me to look into this.

@TheSasukefang This isn't stupid at all. What is stupid is not using helpful resources to help you learn.
