  • First time I ever experienced the eye of a hurricane. Living at Bent Tree at the time.

  • broward didn't get hit as hard i guess. I remember the storm pretty well but never expected it do do the kind of damage it would later on

  • This is just an awesome loop! Thanks for uploading these!

  • Thanks so much, Nathan!

  • Looks like the worst place to be in Katrina's Florida landfall was the left rear quadrant - how odd.

Still love the way the winds went from 0 to 80mph in less than a minute. Just watched your film again - awesome.

  • Yeah, at landfall in Florida, Katrina's eyewall was asymmetrically restricted to the southeast quadrant. There were still strong winds on the north side, but the strongest winds and really deep convection was primarily to the left and behind the storm's track. Looking at the loop, my location appears to have only grazed the edge of the radar eye, yet I had a near calm for 30 minutes. So the wind center may have been displaced a little farther southeast at the surface than this loop suggests.

  • Hey micheal i remember things just going crazy from one minute to the other that night when katrina took here dive towards the southwest into dade county. thanks for uploading these radar loops.
